Description of Work: I needed a consultation on how to proceed when my one year old's blood test came back with an elevated lead level. Jim took the time to talk through the whole situation with me, discussing the specifics of my property, what he's seen from his many years of experience, and what was the best approach for me given my specific situation. This company is providing a public service with their caring and intelligent approach to preventing lead poisoning. Their pricing is comparable with other lead risk assessors, but their professionalism and care for customer is above and beyond.

Excellent. All communications were good. Ms. Kleinhammer was very responsive. She took the time to clearly indicate the situation with respect to lead testing for my unit. She was early to our appointed time to inspect the unit. She was professional in her work and provided all the information that I needed to complete the registration of the unit with MDE. I will use this company again if I have a need for other environmental testing.

Scheduling the appointment was slow. We first contacted Leadtec at the end of August, exchanged a couple emails, and then didn't hear from them for a week, and had to re-contact them before an appointment got scheduled. On the day of the appointment, Susan was a bit late, but she called to let me know she was running behind. Once the inspection started, it went really well. Susan walked through everything she was doing and explained the process and the test. She was clearly knowledgable about lead and lead testing, and answered all questions clearly and confidently. In the end, she took 75$ off the price because the appointment went faster than she expected.

This was my second time trying to reschedule a lead test appointment with this agency. I really wanted to have a lead test done and over the phone the customer rep gave great information about their testing process. The first time I had an appointment, I had to cancel which I did in advance but I had the hardest time trying to reschedule. My emails went unanswered and my phone calls were not returned. I finally managed to get them in again for a February appointment but there was a snowstorm the day of the appointment. I was expected it to be canceled but I did not receive a phone call from them to reschedule or just a friendly check-in about the no show due to snow. Great knowledge of lead testing but poor customer service.

LeadTec was recommended by another lead inspection company because it can performed the type of inspection that was more appropriate for my 1963 property. Jim was very helpful in answering my questions over the phone about the types of inspections he performed and the process he took to report his findings to the State for the lead free registration. On the day of the inspection, he came a little bit late because he got lost. But everything thing after that was performed without delay. Jim was able to ascertain that my property was lead free and followed through with sending the report and the certificate to the State and me in a timely fashion.

A tenants children had a high lead level, the state was contacted by the pediatrician who is required by law to notify the state that there is a child in a rental house with a high lead level. The state comes out and does inspection and we used Leadtec to help us identify what we needed to do to satisfy the State. It was a consult, he walked around for about a half an hour lokked at the place and said this is what needed to do and he left, he didn't charge us.
Description of Work: He provided consultation.

Susan came out on time and explained everything what the procedure for testing lead would be. I had my doubts as to lead paint being used in and around the house. Susan did a wonderful job explaining, showing and testing for lead in every place of the house. My concerns were not necessarily only lead paint but the tile that was used in the bathrooms and kitchen backsplash. (lead is sometimes used in tile manufacturing and can be just as harmful) After testing, Susan revealed lead tiles in both bathrooms which gave my wife and I some relief as we have two infants. The lead in tile, if not disturbed is not a problem for us at this time. thanks Leadtec

I talked with Amy in particular and she is wonderful. I did not hire them at this point but she gave me information on how to address our concerns first by doing a little more home work on own and if we need their services we will use them. The owner of this company is Jim McCabe. Amy is very knowledgeable and she guided me to do work before she thought that we would need their services. She made some suggestions that we should do, follow in terms of hiring some company to do some painting work and follow some guide lines which most of the people in painting business are not following the guide lines but since there is a lot of publicity now something like 40% of the home owners in the country have a problem especially with exterior paintings. For the sake of their workers and homeowners they should be following certain guide lines which they haven't. This company is probably getting a lot of calls because it is very hard to find painters now who are bothered in doing the whole thing. She was suggesting ways how we can go about figuring this out before we hire someone like them to come in and do the testing. She was telling me that we don't start with them and she was really very helpful. After we sift through what we need to give them a call and that they would work with us.

Description of Work: I spoke with Sue on the phone, and while she didn't think it was likely that I had lead in my house based on the build date, she was still patient with all of my questions and was willing to come out and take a look at things. She showed up on time, was so friendly, and explained to me everything she was doing. She tested any suspicious areas and described the areas in which lead paint is usually found. She even explained the best ways to possibly clean it up myself, although no lead paint was found in my house. It was money well spent for peace of mind.

To begin with, when I called to schedule an appointment, I was told that I should save my money. Apparently out of all the houses in my area that they have tested, they never once found lead. I appreciated the honesty, but since I have a 2 year old, I wanted to be sure. LeadTec showed up earlier than expected and she was almost done testing by the time I arrived. She was very helpful and answered our questions. She said that we can contact them any time for proof of testing. We had a lot of inspections going on at the house that day, so I didn't get to watch her work, but I feel confident in her report that there is no lead paint in the house.

We were concerned about lead paint in our home (built in 1948). I called one lead inspection company, but was informed that they did not service owner occupied properties--only rentals. That company recommend LeadTec. I called Leadtec and was put in touch with one of their inspectors. He asked some questions about our property and proceeded to explain that it would be unlikely to find lead paint in the interior of a home built in 1948, but that we could find lead paint on the exterior. He provided a quote for the lead inspection, which included an extra fee for travel. (We're located outside of DC and LeadTec is based in Baltimore). The inspector arrived a few minutes earlier than our appointment time. He was friendly and took the time to answer my questions before proceeding with the inspection. He tested about 10 painted surfaces in each room, plus on the exterior of the house. At the end of his inspection, he told me the findings and promised a detailed written report within a few days. The report arrived about 10 days later (I'm guessing that the delay was partly due to the high mail volume right before Christmas). It outlines the surfaces that were tested in each room and the amount of lead detected in each painted area. It is detailed enough for us to use it to remediate the problem areas. In summary, I've pleased with Leadtec's services. They were professional, prompt, and curtious. I would recommend them to others who are concerned about the possibility of lead paint in their home.

Description of Work: Spent a full hour on line with Jim McCabe who clarified the lead-treatment landscape and legal terrain. This inspection was prompted as we were worried about the potential hazards of lead paint in our home for our infant son. Mr. McCabe helped guide us through the process of assessing for lead, unfortunately finding lead paint in our home and making it safe. He educated us on what we needed to be concerned about and why. He helped us determine what work we could do ourselves and how as well as what work we needed professionals for. He offered suggestions on how to go about finding people to do the work and gave us guidelines to follow in order to keep us all healthy and safe. He then returned the do a clearance check after the work was done. Both Mr. McCabe and his office staff were friendly and helpful. We had some confusion about one of our meetings (totally my fault) and even though Mr. McCabe came to our house, he didn't charge us for the trip. Leadtec's prices were comparable or lower then others that we were referred to. It was truly a pleasure to work with Leadtec, I would recommend them in an instant!
Description of Work: Tested the interior and exterior of our house for lead paint through dust samples and using a portable x-ray fluorescence device. Sent a detailed report and gave us verbal/written recommendations on how to make our home safe for our infant son. Returned after the work was complete and re-assessed.
