Since I bank with Bank of America, my obvious choice was to go to my branch to see if they have any loan officer. Randy Cottrell was there and I got a pre-approval from him. I got a decent rate, comparable to others, so I suck with him and applied for mortgage. I believe it is a process where the buyer or the lone taker doesn't have to be involved after the required documents have been submitted. The loan officer normally works with the loan processor to see that everything is in place for the loan. My Background: I had qualified for 400K loan but the condo I bought was only about 140K, I have excellent credit, and I have been a bank of America customer for a long time, and I am one of their high value customer that qualify for some free services, privilege cards etc. Randy unfortunately didn't have a clue about what he was doing, he didn't answer all the queries from the processor and kept me in dark. I was asking him every week about the process, and if it was going smoothly. He once asked me to come in to submit an additional document, which I did as soon as he asked. I kept calling/emailing him to inquire about the status of the loan, he assured me that everything was fine. I took days off work for settlement, and to move; and arranged for movers. But when the time of settlement came, a day before settlement he calls and says that we may not be able to settle tomorrow. I called him multiple times in the day of settlement, he was nowhere to be found. I believe he has no clue about what he was doing, any person with some common sense that can read and write can do his job. Please avoid him at all cost. Other Bank of America Loan officers may be better, this is nothing personal but I think Randy Cottrell shouldn't be working as a loan officer.
Description of Work: This review is about the Mortgage Loan Officer Randy Cottrell. He was my loan officer when I purchased my first home.
