My neighbor had Castlewood out to do something on her property and also had them take a look at a tree on the east side of my property near her house. She came over and asked me if she could get it trimmed because it was approaching her roof, and I told her that I would take care of it, so she gave me Castlewood's number since they had already looked at it. I called Castlewood myself and mentioned that someone had already come out to look at it so he may have an idea. They called me back later that day and said that "it would be $___ to trim that tree" and that they would call me and let me know when it would be scheduled to be trimmed. I heard nothing for a few weeks, then woke up one morning to the tree being trimmed. When I went to check the tree later, it looked basically the same: the only thing that was trimmed was the small section approaching my neighbor's house, and the rest of the tree was untouched. I received the invoice for the full amount a couple weeks later, and I immediately called them to mention that the tree wasn't trimmed, only the section near my neighbor's house was. They told me that the quote was for just that section (which it wasn't, as they told me directly that it was for "the tree" not "the section of the tree") and then said that I must have had some miscommunication with my neighbor, which shouldn't have mattered because I called them myself directly specifically to avoid any miscommunication via my neighbor. They mentioned that they would get in touch with someone to see if either a) there was any room in their quoted price or b) what the cost would be to finish the tree. I never heard back from them at all. I just received a second invoice last week (a repeat of the first that I hadn't yet paid) that referenced a job done "as discussed with (my neighbor)", which, again, should not matter because I spoke with Castlewood myself and received the quote myself. I would almost be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt about the miscommunication about the section of the tree, but they a) never followed up with me about when the tree was scheduled to be trimmed and then b) never followed up with me about there being room in the price or what the cost would be to finish the whole tree. As a result of those two lapses in communication, they lost any credibility as far as I'm concerned. I paid my invoice just to be done with it, but I will emphatically never be using their services again and will strongly recommend that any of my family and friends avoid them at all costs. A seemingly simple process became very convoluted, frustrating, and disappointing very quickly.

So happy with this tree service. affordable, they did a beautiful job and cleaned up everything nicely. I would definitely hire them again.

Excellent- Ken and crew removed multiple large dead trees and worked all day to clean up. Will definitely use again and highly recommend to family and friends.

Great! They were the third company I called late on a Friday during the high winds; Ken was over within the hour to take a look and give an estimate. The crew came out the next morning and very efficiently removed the tree with a large crane, and cleaned up. They recommended a local builder to assess damage and do some immediate patching, and that person arrived promptly too. All in all I was impressed with the work done and really pleased it was done so quickly and with excellent communication from the company.

Castlewood Tree Service did an excellent job. The owner, Ken, came out assessed what I needed done, and I appreciated his professional opinion on all that I asked. He and his team returned as scheduled, were prompt, quick and did an excellent job cleaning up. And Ken held to the quote that I was given at the initial assessment. I will recommend them to others and hire again.

This is the second time that I have used Castlewood. They have been fantastic both times and the only company I will use. Ken came out both times and gave me the estimate on the spot. It was much lower than any of the other companies. I didn't shop around this time and just called Castlewood. They called a few days before to let me know when they would  be doing the work. They arrived on time and went to work. The crew was very pleasant and even moved my son's swing-set out of the way before starting.  It only took them 3 hours to get the job done. They got all the trees down without any problems.They raked the lawn and cleaned up all the leaves and branches. When they left you couldn't tell they were ever there.

Castlewood is excellent - Ken is knowledgeable and professional. He and is crew worked efficiently and cleaned up every last twig.

Wonderful experience.  The company was responsive.  When they came to see the job they offered us the option of being flexible with dates for a lower price, flexible if they had another job in our neighborhood in the next few months it would be less for them with a crane rental.  They would call us the night before they had another job and do ours sometime the same day.  We went with that option since we weren't in a time rush to remove the tree.  
The company was recommended to us by a friend of the family who had also used them.  They also pointed out a few trees on our property to watch, they didn't pressure us with removal now, nor say it was necessary now, just showed us the warning signs of a potential problems starting.  We will call them back once those tree show more signs of issue.

They did an great job of coordinating with the other contractor I had on site that day. Left everything nice and clean. I plan on using them again in late summer to take out 3 more trees.

Castlewood Tree were very punctual. They did the work in much shorter time than we thought. The guy who came out gave us a quote, gave us all the facts and all the options. He gave us the quote right then and there so my wife and I could talk about it right away without having to wait for it to be mailed or emailed to us. I will absolutely use them again.

Castlewood is one of the best tree companies I have dealt with in my 28 years in Maryland.  Has done work for me twice before. This time removed a 100' tulip poplar tree about 20' from house and 3 very large trees beside the driveway plus 5 huge poplar trees from backyard. Brought in a huge crane to the base of the driveway in a very tight space, padded the outriggers and didn't leave a single mark on my asphalt driveway, stone wall or any vegetation. There are many tree companies north of Baltimore but Castlewood was not only the lowest quote, but the only one I will trust with the really big trees in tight quarters when the damage potential is high.  All staff very courteous, his foreman amazing overhead in trees working perfectly with the crane operator.  Owner dropped the backyard trees precisely with no damage to my dogwoods or maples and removed them cleanly. Major deep stump grinding done very well. Very responsive to callback on stump of 100' poplar which had such a large mountain of chips a high spot needed clean up after grindings removed. Removed some limbs from adjacent trees as part of project and did all the tree work I asked without hesitation.



My neighbor across the street was so impressed he had 15 massive trees removed from his lot two weeks later. We still live on wooded lots only now we can get enough sun to grow some grass.

I thought their price was really reasonable. It was a much better price than I got from other companies. I like the work that they did. They were very nice and professional. It was nice to have them out their working. They did crack a piece of my cement walkway. They replaced the whole thing and did a lovely job. I really like them and that's why I am using them again. They did a good job. It was easy for me to take care of the area after they did the work. It was hard to find someone because of the storms that we had. I had another company call me back before Castlewood. So they are both coming out soon. I will probably go with Castlewood.

They did an excellent job and were a pleasure to work with.  They refused to take payment until they finished the stump.  We found the cost very reasonable and would certainly use them again.

After getting a couple of estimates, Castlewood came in the lowest. This is the second time we've used them and we're happy with the job they've done both times. Not only will we use them again, but I'd recommend them for others as well. They were quick, cleaned up thoroughly, and offered to come back if I found that the stump wasn't ground to my satisfaction.
