With my work schedule, I just don’t have the time to keep up with my yard the way I’d like. Last summer (2024), I decided to call Hawkins Landscaping for help with my front yard, and I’m so glad I did. I had heard they were one of the best when it comes to landscaping frederick, and that turned out to be true. They handled everything — mowing, trimming the bushes, edging, and putting down fresh mulch. My yard had been neglected because of how busy I’ve been, but they made it look clean, fresh, and well cared for again in just one visit. I worked with David Hawkins Jr., and he was excellent. He was professional, easy to talk to, and made sure the work was done exactly how I wanted. It was a big relief not having to worry about squeezing yard work into my already packed schedule. The price was very reasonable for the quality and the convenience. Honestly, it saved me time and stress, and I came home to a front yard that looked better than it had in years. If anyone is looking for dependable landscaping frederick, I definitely recommend Hawkins Landscaping. And if you can, ask for David Hawkins Jr. — he really made the whole process smooth and stress-free.

DO NOT use Hawkins Landscaping!!!!! We spent ~$35,000 for a new driveway that was not done correctly after over one year. We were left with deep sunken areas throughout the driveway. The drains weren't put in correctly- the drains rose up from the driveway and weren't even connected correctly. Work is still not finished after 15 months. All my emails to 3 different family members (Hawkins) were sent back to me unread. CON ARTISTS!!!

They did fine. They don't let me know when they're here and they don't let me know when they leave. I like to go out and check to see that everything's been done. I have a year contract.

They planted them last year. They haven't trimmed the plants. They don't come out and week like they are suppose to come out and weed. They don't turn the mulch like they are suppose to do every season. So there isn't much right now that I like best about them. The man I talk to is very nice. I am allergic to bees so they were good at finding things that didn't attract them. I had to leave and my husband was here but made them stay until I got home so I could look at things. I had them move a couple things and they did it. They did come out a couple times in the winter to fertilize the flower bed and grass. When they were digging, they got the stones out. They were on time.

I decided to use Hawkins for a fairly large job after seeing work that they had done for a house down the street.  I met with David Hawkins Jr., and found him to be very pleasant and easy to work with, as was his office staff. If only the rest of the project had gone so well.
I hired them to tear down and replace a my front steps and landing, repair and replace a part of the brickwork facade on the front of my house, install French drains, and install landscaping.  The results were very disappointing.  Concrete steps are supposed to angle slightly down (maybe 1 or 2 degrees) to drain.  The steps that their contractor poured angled towards the house, so that when it rained there was standing water on every step (this is called "pooling"). Their contractor attempted several times to correct it with patches which look terrible and are already cracking.   As for the brickwork, their mason used several different colors and shades of brick, none of which are anywhere near a match for the existing brick. He also used as darker mortar than the original, so that all of these defects stick out like a sore thumb.  The railings to the steps where supposed to be stripped, rustproofed, and repainted.  Now only a couple of months later they are already showing signs of rust.  As for the landscaping - not a quality job, and the plantings seem to have been placed at random.
It is hard for me to put into words my disappointment with final product.  I have no confidence in Hawkins ability to redress these issues, and have already begun planning with another contractor.

They did the service the way we asked them to do it.  You get what you asked for.

The service was provided as planned as far as aerating and removing the tree stumps.Due to many issues, the yard was reseeded multiple times. The excuse was the summer was extremely hot and killed the grass. I can not tell you how many times they came out, They agreed to have at least 70-80% of the yard take to the seeds. This is not even remotely close. They came out one more time last year, reseeded and we never heard from them again. They were to trim trees up to 25ft which did not happen.I would never recommend this company.

It is has been 4 years and we are still reeling that we did not make them redo the driveway.  The owner/sales guy measured our old driveway, but when they removed the old one no one measured to make sure that what we had would be replaced.  We lost almost 2 feet on one side of our driveway and about 4 feet in the turn-around area.  Owner came back and measured and determined that they would compensate for the asphalt not put down.  We should have insisted they redo the driveway, regardless, but at the time we did not think they would (we later learned that they would not have).  We were also told that each day someone who actually spoke English would be on site so that if we had a question it would and could be answered.  I lost count the number of times I had to call the office because of some problem.  A good 20% of the vinca that was planted was not set into the ground properly, so either washed away or died.  We were told numerous times that any plants that died that first year would be replaced.  None were, even after numerous calls.  We finally gave up.  We were told that what we were seeing on our trees was insect damage, so had them come out to spray.  Of course they would come out when it was raining, or just about to, so I would call and have them reschedule (not that this always occurred).  I finally fired them on this, but mainly because one day I was out, still seeing this so-called damage, so headed to the trees to take a closer look.  I scraped some of what I was told was insect eggs only to discover that in fact this was a form of mold (which was why it never went away with the insect poison).  But it is the driveway that still causes us issues.  Even the UPS man had something to say since now when he comes into our driveway he now hits part of a tree.  Well, actually, he cannot come into our driveway anymore without causing damage to that tree, so we finally had to really trim the tree back, which now looks stupid.  Expensive, yes, but we did shop around.  We do not mind paying a tad more if the business comes recommended, and this one did, by our contractor (who is very reliable and we have used him for over 15 years).  Even he was shocked when he found out what had happened to us and no longer recommended this business.

Hawkins Landscaping Inc. was good but expensive. They were professional and responsive. I like them about everything, except for their price, which was a bit on the pricey side. They did do quality work.

It was great, they did exactly what I asked them to do.  They finished 2 weeks ago.  They did the design I asked for.  I explained exactly what I wanted and they did it. They gave us the estimate that we expected.  They responded to every email.  They were always punctual.  They knew what they were doing and they did their job well.

Arrived on time for the estimate appointment and the work (and clean up) were completed in two days.   I wasn't at home but the neighbors commented on how hard the crew worked.   And I liked the effect!

I would not recommend them. They killed a lot of my grass and trees. They were telling me that my dog was ruining my shrubbery even though I knew that was not possible. They did not do what they said they would do.
