This company was excellent. I was out when my furnace goes out. They came out and did it. They call me every 2 years to remind me about the check up on my AC and heating and chimney cleaning. Their pricing was reasonable.

I purchased a new boiler from these guys in the fall of 2013. It worked that first winter. By January 2015, it barely worked at all. I paid Walbert over $2000 for several visits to try to fix it. (Their warrantee only lasted 1 year.) I?ve had 3 other companies come to look at it, all of whom said the installation looked terrible. Now I?m told I need a new boiler. Apparently, this one (recommended and installed by Walbert) is poor quality to begin with, plus the terrible installation.
Making things worse, Walbert?s customer service is bad. Everyone I dealt with was extremely rude, from the woman who answers the phone to the servicemen who came by. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and go with Snell.
(The "Approximate cost of service" listed is how much this will have cost me, between all the repairmen and now a brand new, brand new boiler.)

I have been dealing with Walbert's for over 20 years. They service my furnace, fireplace/chimney and air ducts every two years. They have a system that reminds them to call me every two years to schedule an appointment -- and it is person that calls, not a computer. I had to cancel my last appointment, and they called me to schedule another one. Walbert's service technicians have always been on time, courteous and efficient--and leave no mess behind. I had a problem with my furnace a few years ago and they came out promptly and made the repair at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend Walbert Heating and Air Conditioning.

All services have exceeded expectations in all categories. Walbert is a family owned company that treats their customers with respect.

The service was okay, I wouldn't say it was spectacular. I had to ask them to make sure that would cover the vents in the house, when they were vacuuming the duct work. They came out the year before, and when they vacuumed the duct work, they didn't cover the vents in the house properly and dust went all of the house.
Response from Walbert Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
"Walbert Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. has been a pioneer in the field of furnace and duct cleaning since we opened our doors in 1968. We apologize to the customer for any inconvenience this caused him and we appreciate his honesty in his review about his experience. After researching the customer's job, it became apparent that the employees that performed the work had recently been hired from one of our former competitors. Even though Walbert's has an extensive training program for all new hires, occasionally there is a new hire that believes the way they have always done something is the right way to continue to do it. After we received a phone call from a different long term customer that told us a similar incident happened at their home, the new employee's were put back through our training program and counseled as to exactly why we cover the vents and that the way they had originally learned (through our competitor) was wrong. The new hires have since become our team with the most customer compliments and requests. We wish the customer had called and let us know that he was dissatisfied, so we could have made it right but by not contacting us directly, we were unaware of his displeasure with the services performed."

The furnace was installed in October 2008 and seemed fine until the spring when I turned on the air conditioner and water was leaking from the furnace under my tile and onto my wood floor. I called on Saturday with an emergency call and did not receive a response till Sunday when they said they would be out on Monday. This meant that I could not use my air conditioner and my mother at that time was 87 years old with health issues. I realized that I would have to pay for an emergency call and that would have fine. They came out, did some type of adjustment which did not fix the problem. because the problem continued and they came out again and I pointed out there was also quite a lot of air flow coming from the silver tape they used. He put more tape on the furnace which looks very unprofessional however he never looked inside the furnace because if he had he would have seen that the coils were open and freezing up. I was so fed up that I had a friend that works in the field take a look and he could not believe that the coils were exposed like that. He fixed the problem in no time and that is when I found out that when you have a gas furnace installed WSSC needs to inspect the work. I called Walbert and told them I needed the permit card so I could call for inspection and they faxed me a permit number on another companies letter head. I also told them that I had three estimates on a new gas hot water heater and all three companies said this furnace would not pass inspection. Walbert came out and said it would pass, they do this all the time. When I called WSSC, they failed the furnace twice. Walbert did follow up to see that the furnace did finally pass inspection however the time, aggravation and loss of leave from work has caused me to look for another company to service my furnace and air conditioner. It is because of this experience that I joined Angies List, now check the BBB and DLLR for permit information. I would suggest to any consumer that you do your homework to make sure that the contractors hired have the proper license and permits to do any work on your home. A headache, yes but well worth it.
Response from Walbert Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
"Walbert Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. was built on the pretense of honesty and integrity. After more than four decades in business, we have learned that every once in awhile a customer or customer's family member comes along that is impossible to please regardless of the great lengths we have gone to for them. Unfortunately, the customer was one of those family members of a customer that could not be satisfied. The customer was our actual customer. The customer is correct on a few points, however, not many. The customer did have a furnace installed but it was not in 2008, it was in fact in 2007. The customer also stated that the coil was left open and exposed causing them to freeze up. In fact it was a defective metal closed box that sits above the coil that had a gap in it that caused the coils to freeze up. Mr. Clyde Walbert, founder and owner, personally went out to the customer's home to inspect and fix the problem using standard industry practices. Walbert's is a licensed, certified HVAC contractor and Mr. Clyde Walbert personally holds a Master HVAC License through the state and all local, city and county licenses for the DC, MD, VA areas that we service; in addition to numerous certification through industry manufacturers and associations. The fact that the customer called a "friend that works in the field" that may not even hold an HVAC license or even be a qualified "technician" to evaluate this system and the work of a industry leading professional speaks volumes as to her judgment skills. Common sense would dictate that if you are that concerned about work performed, you would contact another reputable company to evaluate it, not a "friend in the business". If that had been done, Walbert's would have went out and repaired the work. However, by the tactic the customer used by having someone else evaluate and work on the equipment caused her warranty through Walbert's to be voided. Walbert's cannot be expected to warranty another possibly unqualified person or companies work. In response to the WSSC permit, the original permit was left with the customer on the day the equipment was installed. Once the customer called our office and notified us that she didn't have a permit, we immediately obtained another permit and personally delivered the permit. In addition, we met the WSSC inspector on the jobsite. The inspector did ask to have a few minor items changed, however, those were changes that had been made by the customer's "friend in the business". Walbert's promptly made the changes and the equipment passed inspection. In conclusion, Walbert's made every attempt possible to please the customer's family member but in the end that was just not possible."
