SJ Tub & Tile Restorations

Previous Person that gave him an F says it all..   Do not use!!   Why is he even on Angies List???

DO NOT USE SJ Tub & Tile. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!!  I spoke with Ed who at first is very friendly and accommodating.  He measured the job and gave me the quote.  I paid the required 1/3 deposit and waited and waited.  Ed called me several times with a variety of excuses why they couldn't start the job. The first one was the wrong glaze color was sent by the manufacturer.  The second one was he couldn't get a technician scheduled because they were SO busy.  Finally on the promised day of work 8/11, I was told due to our wait the technician would glaze the soaking tub tile walls for free and show up at 9:30.  By 11:30 am no one was there.  Finally, Carlos shows up and begins working.  I thought the whole thing would be done in one day because ED never told us it would be any longer than that - so why would I think different?  Carlos spends all of day one prepping my bath/shower, soaking tub and walk in shower.  Then he leaves. The next day he returns to actually glaze the 3.  He brings who I thought was a co-worker with him.  Must've been his drinking buddy because that guy stayed in the car texting the whole time Carlos was glazing.  Finally, Carlos finishes glazing and asks me to give it the once over.  It looked fine but the smell was so awful that truthfully I couldn't hold my breath long enough to give a thorough review.  Even though I was holding my breath I was still able to notice  that the "safety tread" for the shower/bath wasn't installed as was written into the contract and that the caulking was not done on the soaking tub. I pointed this out to Carlos.  Carlos said he knew nothing about safety tread and to speak to Ed. I immediately called Ed.  He said no problem, I will be out there "tomorrow" to install safety tread and caulk for you.  Then (here's where I made a big mistake) Ed asked if I could please pay the remainder of the balance today.  FOOLISHLY I did!   Ed did show up the next day and by then we had noticed the inconsistency of the amount of glaze on the surface of the areas glazed which we pointed out to Ed.  Ed complained and moaned about HIS EMPLOYEE (Carlos) and said that he often doesn't show up to work the day after he gets paid and how inferior his work tends to be!  Why would you send me that guy Ed?  Well, Ed marked the areas with tape that needed to get reglazed and promised that CARLOS would return to finish the job.  NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. I have called Ed's cell, office. I've tried texting - nothing.

Initial problem getting hold of the company (the company's phones were being worked on), but when I did, we scheduled an appointment (which had to be rescheduled--no one's fault).
On the day the workers came, they were very thorough and extremely courteous and answered any questions that I hadn't had answered. The only thing I didn't count on was the smell from the work. I would highly recommend that anyone having bathtubs re-glazed have it done when all windows can be left open for at least one day, maybe even two.
One tub was originally pink and the other, blue. They're both white now and they look wonderful! They came with a 5-year guarantee, so I'm happy with the service. I would recommend this company for bathtub re-glazing.
