Horribe Company, the worst customer service ever, my septic tank pump motor is outside James with Emerald plumbing would say they/his company was on the property to fix/replace/repair the septic tank motor over a period of 3, yes 3 months.... but my cameras only picked them up on the property 3 of the 7 times they said they were here... and surprise, suprise! After they "repaired" the problem... The problem still existed! ? I asked them to come to the door before they went to the back yard to stop the "misunderstandings" regarding if they were here or not... but they did not! Months of this! The time alone should let you know they don't know what they are doing and NO, it was not us waiting for an ordered part to come in, they kept saying the problem was resolved....when it obviously was not.. but, face it, it's tough to evaluate anything outside in the dark, especially when Emerald plumbing never bothered to be on site. Emerald plumbing would make an appointment and then IF they showed at all it was usually, for some reason, always after dark when they arrived, IF they came at all, no explanation, no excuse, no common courtesy AT ALL! To say EMERALD plumbing is substandard would be a compliment. Spare yourself the drama... My advice is don't ever use this company!

Work completed on time and at promised price. Provided drain pan and replaced shut off valve as part of work. Also installed overflow device to comply with updated code requirement. Price was lower than 3 other estimates.

Not only was the service performed on our toilet of significantly inferior quality, the worst part is that we continued to have nothing but trouble with this company as we sought compensation for the damages.  A representative of Emerald did come to our house to inspect the damage, and agreed to seek approval from his bosses for reimbursing us for the ceiling replacement and repair.  He later informed us that he received approval to pay us back for the construction work on the ceiling replacement. Sounds great, except that once we sent him all of the requested invoices and receipts that he needed, we were then completely avoided.  Our calls were screened, messages were never returned, and promises remain broken. At this point we have still not been reimbursed for any of the damages, and the company rep refuses to answer our calls or return our messages.
Next time I think "how badly could a simple repair job go," I will remember the horrible experience we have had with Emerald and the importance of selecting a reputable, trustworthy, and skilled contractor.

11/29/14 Update - somehow things went from bad to worse.  For the past month, Emerald has repeatedly avoided our calls, and then once we were finally able to get a hold of them, made promises to send us the check but never followed through.  The worst case was when the rep agreed to meet my wife (along with our 9 month old baby) at a supermarket to hand her the check.  He never showed up, and left them waiting in the freezing cold.  Would not respond to any messages from her to find out where he was either.  In my opinion, their behavior has been inexplicably unethical and unfair.
Response from Emerald Plumbing Co.
"I believe it was mentioned that a settlement of financial means was agreed upon and then the company never followed through on our word, even to the point of having his wife meet us. None of that sounds like the family oriented organization that I am proud to be a part of. The owner of Emerald Plumbing, is a father, brother, husband and deacon at his church, He has family ties in this area that go back for generations. He believes that if you treat people the right way, then you will be covered. I think if we felt that we were negligent all hands on deck would have been there to fix the situation. Integrity is the hands down motto that our organization lives by."

They are doing several major jobs for me and I do recommend them highly. It didn't pass inspection so they had to come back today but that's life. It's an old house and it needs a lot more insulation. They got all the permits. The first job was $5,700 and the second is a little over $5,000. They are responsive. I had a whole bunch of plumbers give me different estimates and they were fairly reasonable. They were major jobs in the middle of winter. I first started using them when there were horrible snows that we had and they came out whenever there was an emergency because the sewer line was backing up before they could get it repaired. They were very, very responsive in fixing it. It took a couple of trips back because it sank because the ground was frozen. They had to come back 3 or 4 times but it wasn't their fault; it was the weather. They have been good.

They came out and did an estimate.  I have called starting in December to have the work done and have had no return call.  I have called 3 times today and am still not able to get anyone to answer the phone.  I would only use them again because I have already paid $500 to them for the scope.

This company did a really good job.  They gave us a bid that was competitive, but they were more helpful than the other company about explaining our options.  They dug up the yard, put safety devices around the area while waiting for the inspector, came back to put plywood over the hole when it snowed, got the inspection, and then filled the hole back up.  They put most of the plants back where they came from and seeded the lawn.    Given the weather problems in the 2013/2014 winter, there were a lot of communications back and forth --  not always smooth, but it always worked out fine.

I called Emerald Plumbers on Columbus Day about a small gas leak that had been identified during a home energy audit. They answered the phone within two rings and had plumbers at my door within 2 hours. They located the leak within minutes and inspected the rest of the pipe, sealed all joints on the pipe within 1.5 hours. The service was smooth and professional from end to end. No fuss, no mess.

These folks are the best!  Their estimate was the lowest of four we received, but we went with them ultimately because of some work they'd been contracted to do along our street by WSSC about three years ago .  They did a great job then and now have done it again!  The 3-man team was fast, efficient, and thoroughly professional.  After an inspection by WSSC, the team returned to close up the trench.  They even re-planted a holly bush they had removed.  All-in-all this was a great experience and I highly recommend these folks!

My tub faucet was leaking/dripping and I called my Home Warranty company who referred Emerald Plumbing to me. I set up an appointment with them, and they came within a week. The first appointment I made I had to cancel due work, but they still showed up. (Miss-communication internal to their offices.) When I finally got the appointment corrected, the plumber who arrived, went to work but couldn't find the problem. He took it apart, turned the water on and off to flush out the pipes, left for about 20 mins to go find a part, he came back empty handed and said they didn't have the part, then he put the tub back together and said it was finished. I told him that the leak has been on/off for about a month and I didn't think it was fixed. He told me that if it leaked again to just call the Home Warranty office again, then he left. I felt that the plumber was very apathetic towards the problem and only did the bare minimum to help me with my problem.
A few hours after he left the drip came back and I had to reschedule a follow up appointment through my Home Warranty Company, who advised me to call Emerald back. I called again and set up a follow-up appointment, which they set up for within a week. They apologized for the apathy of the first plumber and set up another appointment for me which they missed. I had to call them and remind them of my appointment. They then gave me a new appointment for that same day, which they were late for.
I think this company has the potential to be better, they need to work on their appointment system, punctuality and ensure that their plumbers are professional.

This is the second plumber referred to me by a home warrantee company.  Unlike the first plumbing company which I fired, the tech Pat was clearly experienced and professional. He arrived at the stated time, ready to start work. After diagnosing the problem, Pat left to get the shower part and then spent the better part of the day making the repairs. I am extremely pleased with the result and would hire them without reservation.

I have a home warranty plan so this plumber was selected by the warranty company. The serviceman was prompt, fixed a leaking toilet and offered to check all of the bathrooms since he was there. He also examined my hot water heater. The $85.00 is a standard fee paid to all service providers covered under the home warranty.

Emerald encountered several bureaucratic hurdles, not of their making. I suspect they did not have much experience dealing with the quirks of this county. But they perserved. We are very pleased with the final results.

They came back between Easter and Mother's day 2011; we looked at this war-torn site for almost 5 months.  They leveled our yard, applied grass seed and filled the broken concrete with tar.  They did not push the porch back into place.  Initially, the porch was about 2 inches out of place (out of alignment with the siding), but flush with the house; now, it is 2.5 to 3 inches away from the house and tilting downward.  Upon approach, it looks like the haunted house with the crooked stairs.  The tar applied to the broken concrete has settle in and is now a big hole, just waiting to twist someone's ankle.
My husband called Emerald and they said they would come to look, but never returned. In his attempts to send registered letters, they refused to accept them.
I tried to contact them again through their website.  No response.
I have gone practically summers enduring this and trying to get them or some else to fix my porch.
The plumbing part was fine, but the aftermath is terrible.

I have a very old outdoor drain on my back patio that runs thorugh a convoluted underground piping network that ends directly in the DC city sewer lines. The drain had been running very slowly all summer, and it became completely blocked during the hurricane, causing my backyard to flood and overflow into my basement.
I contacted several local plumbing companies, all of whom agreed after initial visits that the drain was "un-snakeable" and needed to be cleared by an alternative method called water jetting. The equipment required for this type of work is very large (it must be towed on a trailer behind a pickup truck) and is typically not stocked by smaller, local plumbers.
I contacted Emerald Plumbing by recommendation from another company who could not complete the job. Emerald was very responsive. They came out to my house within a day of the initial call. It took about 2 hours to clear the lines.
Service was excellent. I would definitely use this company again.

Modern Mechanical had installed a new mixing valve on my hydronic water heater in mid March of 2012. On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, I accidentally touched the relief valve and it began leaking. It took some time to get it to stop, and when it finally did, I noticed that the mixing valve was now leaking. I had to shut off the main water valve to get the mixing valve to stop leaking. Modern Mechanical claimed that they could not send someone out to fix the leak! I couldn't believe it! My home warranty relies on Modern Mechanical so since they couldn't find another plumber to help me, they gave me authorization to use an Independent Contractor. I used ServiceMaster since they give you three verified professionals immediately. Rod Neither, Master Plumber at Emerald Plumbing, called me right away, and made arrangements to come over that night, tacking my job onto others he already had. Rod was great -- he called to let me know when he was on his way, and arrived within a few minutes of his estimated arrival time. He calmly examined my water heater and determined that both the relief and mixing valves needed replacing. The gasket on the mixing valve was broken, so he repaired it quickly and easily. The relief valve was replaced efficiently, and Rod went on to do some regular maintenance of the water heater system too. He suggested that the dip tube be replaced because if it disintegrated, the whole water heater would have to be replaced. In the end, the cost was $535, but I only had to pay a $75 deductible. I was so happy that Rod came out so late at night to help me that I kept giving him lemonade to express my thanks. :-) I've already followed up to ask him to come back out to replace the dip tube and fix some other plumbing issues.

First tech came out was extremely courteous, but was mystified as to the source of the leak he checked all the pvc piping and ruled out plumbing from above. He called the company to have their AC guy come and evaluate (did not know they did AC). Was told he would arrive after 3 that pm so I waited and waited then called ...no one showed. Next morning about 8 the door bell rings and it their AC guy without notice. I changed my plans to get the work done ...he determined the pipe off the AC condenser was clogged and had to remove it and replace some pvc to fix. He was very professional and did a great job....but the issue I had overall is the scheduling mess and the price was outrageous for such a simple fix.

This was the day before Thanksgiving, and they stayed until 6 pm to finish. They came back the following week to fill in the hole and cover the lawn. Like most plumbers, they are not landscapers and we still have to spend more to get the lawn back in shape, but they were completely upfront about what they would do and did it. The original estimate was lower than the final cost, but that was still less than another company had quoted to me, and they told me when they discovered the extent of the problem how and why that changed the final cost.

I was quoted a price of $99 over the phone. The plumber arrived and checked to see why the dishwasher wasn't draining. He said that there wasn't a clog in the pipes, made a loop in the existing pipes and said that it was fixed. It wasn't fixed, it wasn't draining. He seemed to be in a very big rush to get out of there, and wouldn't wait until the end of the dishwasher cycle. He charged me $267 for 30 minutes of "work". Very unprofessional. I very strongly do not recommend.

We got their name through our home warranty company. As a company the professionalism is an F, but the plumbers they have sent out have been courteous. I had total dissatisfaction. They were supposed to order the showerer diverter, and after 1 month admitted they did not order the part. They only finally order the part after multiple calls to my home warranty company. They also had to come back twice to fix the water heater. If it wasn't for the fact that this is who my home warranty company sends out, I would never use them again.
