Major Renovation Multiple Room Service
We have been asking Gary since mid May 2025 to return our $20k since no work has happened and he isn?t returning our money. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!! Gary, I hope you get punished for all the lies you have told many of us. I hope GOD gives you a reality check! We are so upset with this man. My husband called him two weeks ago regarding our money and he said PNC investment hasn?t released the check! He?s also started telling my husband that he is threatening him, when clearly we are just asking for our money! He?s a scammer! He?s FRAUD!! GOD will answer you for this matter. He?s watching you, Gary! He spend our money and this is a repeated behavior and he has does this to many others. BE CAREFUL!! DO NOT HIRE HIM!!!

Mr. Gary, contacted me through Angi list, we set up meeting time in January 2025 with contract documents and initial payment of $20,000. he took the check and told us that he will be pulling up county permits to start project. We set up a completion time by the end of April 2025 that he assured. after couple weeks i asked him for updates he replied that he is working on permits and should be done in few days and will complete our project on time as we agreed. But after such update weeks passed with no results, i asked him over n over aging for updates but he was kept on blaming Howard County office not working they are lazy not doing their job and so on... also i asked him to give me project details that you promised to provide like 3D images of project but he never shared. I decided to contact County office to find out why they are not releasing our permits? when i called office they told me that Mr.Gary did not provide them with required documents to complete such request, the office contacted him for additional required documentations but he never responded and even what he initially provided to request permits was extraneous documents. so after this info from county i called him and asked why didn't you responded to county office he started making excuses. SO MANY RED FLAGES, he was keep on lien about every thing. So we decided to fire his services due to him being dishonest. On May 14 2025 we asked him to give our money back that you already used $20,000 for over 4 months. he said to give him a week he will come by and drop Cashier's check for $20,000. its over 16 days and now he started blaming bank that is not cooperating with him. this gain is lie. i want my $20,000 back ASAP.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! Gary will make many promises, and completely make lame excuses for his failure to deliver. We hired him back in February 2025 to add an office on our main level and to extend our kitchen. He asked for the initial deposit of $20k and we paid him via check. He promised us the work will be completed by May 10, 2025. It is now May 29, 2025 and no work has even begun! He is nothing but lies. Unprofessional and basically a liar. He said the county is not approving our permits. I called the county policy review office and we were told that he never uploaded the required information such as plot of the addition and BASIC information. We are so upset abut this entire situation. We asked for our money back and he started getting uncomfortable. Two weeks ago, he told us he needs 14 business days for PNC investment bank to release the funds. He isn?t giving our money back and we are highly concerned. He keeps asking for more time.

Beware. This guy took 13k deposit pulled a carpet installed a deficient Wall frame and sink and abandoned the project. Hired a new contractor that had to redo the sink and redo wall. He doesnt pay his subs. DO NOT hire. Walkersville MD

Gary is truly Excellent! He is very prompt in picking up your calls and contract team is absolutely wonderful. We did our basement remodeling with Gary and we cannot ask for more. We had our basement totally redone to include a new bedroom and all new bathroom and all of the work was excellent. I would strongly recommend Gary.

Bathroom Remodel
We hired Gary Sweitzer to remodel 2 upstairs bathrooms. In the master bath, we had a new shower installed with a tile floor and a drain system that we were told would never leak... Well... 2 years later I have water dripping from the kitchen ceiling (the master bath is directly above the kitchen). I contacted gary, and he basically blew me off... Telling me that it could not be anything he did... Maybe it was the result of a heavy rain (I have a new roof)... Maybe it was my gutters... Come on... I asked that he break into the ceiling to see where the water was coming from... If it was from the shower, I expected him to repair, if not I would pay him to repair... He basically said no.... I have all this on text message. We paid over $20k, and he refuses to stand by his work... Please be careful... The water leak has taken 2 years to appear... And he is throwing around a 1-year warranty disclaimer... Even though my paperwork shows nothing to that effect.

"Sorry I did not meet your expectations. In February this will be 3 years old. Were no leaks for over 2 years. What variable changed? You replaced your roof. I came out right away in August when you called. I took my laser and showed you the damaged area was 6 feet away from the shower and directly under your other bath. Leaking toilet? I don't know. We did no plumbing work in that bath. Just painted cabinets. I ran your shower while I was there for an hour. You also advised me you took showers that morning. I saw ZERO leakes while there. Shower pans do not intermittently leak. Your leak was after a major rain storm that cause much flooding. You told me you got no rain but National Weather service records state otherwise. At that time I advised you to wait a few weeks to see it there were any leaks. You did, and hired my worker to patch your sheetrock in kitchen. Several more weeks go by and we have another major Nor'easter. Few days later you wrote this complaint. As I advised you before, you need to contact a plumber and maintain your Home."

Gary Sweitzer, owner of Excellent Contracting Inc, proved to be a very experienced, responsive builder. He listened respectfully to our basement design ideas with storage area, closet, wet bar, bath and gas fireplace and gave us good advice. His motto is, "I want my customers to be happy." His crew and subs were very courteous and professional and finished on schedule. Gary gave us a written contract with a competitive bid with the " bonus" of a builder who really knew his business.

We had a permit issue and Gary was the only person who could work with Howard County to get that fixed. Kudos to him on knowing his way around. But out french door turned out to be a recycled metal fire door until we pointed out that the contract said "french door" - the outside stairs were recycled when our contract said otherwise and I ended up sanding my own drywall and painting around the doors -- when I started to complain he mentioned other 'permit issues' with the house and that 'hopefully the county won't notice" - since we were moving on a timeline and putting kids in college, we sucked it up and moved out.

"Other permit issues? This job was completed to Howard County specs and recieved a "Pass" inspection allowing this Homeowner to move out? Painting completed by Homeownerr was clearly stated in the contract. Reuse of rear steps was also stated in contract as it was not stated they would be replaced. I have never threatened any customers with permit issues or anything else for that matter as my above reviews clearly show. Somewhat confused here?"

Bathroom Remodel
Gary's first project for us was to remodel and tile our master bathroom. During succeeding months, Gary built a new bathroom and walk in closet in the basement, remodelled the kitchen, and installed a tankless hot water heater, a gas fireplace, and new stair rails. The house has been beautifully transformed. In all instances, the work was competently completed. Gary's prices are fair and his responsiveness to the customer's concerns and alterations of plans was excellent. Works with superb electrical and plumbing subs. Would recommend highlyt to family and friends.

Gary and his team were truly "Excellent!" Gary's quote was considerably better out of the four I got. At first, I thought this was because he would skimp or cut corners, but after checking his references I realized this was not the case. We had our basement totally redone to include a new bedroom and all new bathroom and all of the work was top notch. Gary stayed on time and on budget for the whole project and was very easy to deal with. We did the remodel because we were having another baby and since having her we've had tons of family come through and stay down there. They have all been amazed at the transformation and the quality of work.

We got our basement finished by Excellent Contracting. The work was done quick and there were no hidden fees, everything was presented to us at the beginning of the project, and the payment plan was reasonable. Gary had great ideas for our basement and it turned out wonderful!!! Anytime we had questions (and I felt like that was often), Gary was available to answer them. We are so happy with our basement and we are thankful that we found Excellent Contracting through Service Magic. Highly recommend!!!
