CHAMPION WATERPROOFING INC

The basement bedroom carpet became very wet after the recent flooding we had in Baltimore. I telephoned CHAMPION WATERPROOFING, INC. because of its high ratings on Angie's List. Mr. Bill Kowalski is the owner of CHAMPION WATERPROOFING, INC. and personally came to the house to look the situation over and provide an estimate. Mr. Kowalski knows his craft very well and was very willing to answer all of my questions in great detail. I never felt rushed in the process, which is important to me. All appointments were kept in a timely manner and the work went very smoothly. Until it rains very hard I cannot confirm that the waterproofing works as it should but so far no problems that I am aware of. I would recommend CHAMPION WATERPROOFING, INC. to all Angie's List members.

Everything went well except I could not afford the company at the time.

They were very professional and very thorough but they wanted to do more work than was prepared to pay for.

As explained above, I think Champion Waterproofing is a very well run company. Every contact I made with the company left me feeling positive. What all three waterproofing companies I received estimates from believed was required to solve my basement problem was to have a drain system installed that included a sump pump and a trench running the full length of the problem wall and part way up the side walls. Additionally, I was recommended to have "Durashield" installed between the brick and drywall to stop any moisture from touching the drywall or wood beams in future. Champion Waterproofing's cost for this work was $2,250 after a $500 Angie's List discount, which was $250 dollars more than my lowest estimate but $150 lower than my highest estimate. However, the main reason why I I did not choose Champion Waterproofing was because I desired a transferable certification and guarantee on the waterproofing work for the "lifetime of the structure" because as an investor it is of great benefit to be able to sell the property with a warranty that runs with the structure itself. Champion's guarantee instead was one that was "automatically transferable to one subsequent owner at no charge." After I had hired another company, I informed the companies I did not hire why I did not choose them. After doing so with Champion Waterproofing, I received a very nice personal phone call from the owner himself with the offer to lower the price and give me the warranty/guarantee that I desired. I would have taken this offer but I had already orally hired another company and I did not want to go back on my word. I certainly recommend to all of you Angie's List members to call Champion Waterproofing to get an estimate on any waterproofing work you require. I also recommend to all of you Angie's List members out there to make sure and call at least 3 companies to get those 3 estimates and after you have decided on your company to let those other companies you do not choose know why. It is in the best interests of us all that all those companies out there learn what we desire from them so they can give it to us.

I am still looking at estimates. Their estimate was kind of high. They were very professional and explained things well, but it was more than I want to spend. They were late for the estimate but we are drowning in 35 inches of snow so I can't fault them. They called and said they would be late and then called to say that they were on their way. I felt the price was high for the work that needed to be done. I am still investigating estimates.

They did a good job. They were really good. The guy that came out seemed very honest. He seemed to care more about what we needed than about the bottom line of him making money. I had gotten a quote from somebody else who obviously wanted to make money. I would use Champion Waterproofing again if I ever needed to.

They were willing to explain everything in detail along the way, were all friendly and hard working, and came back on a holiday to finish the job. They went truly above and beyond and did a fantastic job.

Kowalski is the owner and he is extremely professional and explained everything that they were going to do in detail, and also was very responsive. Scheduled the job and they were there on time and called me when they were finished with the work. We did a walk through the next day I was also impressed of how neat and professional they were at completing the job and explained everything they did in detail during the walk through. Rave reviews for there waterproofing service and I would highly recommend them for waterproofing to every home owner.
