The guys are great and they have been to my home since then to help with a frozen pipe. They added duct work to add more heat to the crawl space and insulated the outside wall. I now have a nice warm kitchen and don't have to worry about another frozen pipe.
I will definitely use them in the future for any other work.
"Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a nice review. It was a pleasure to work with you."
"Thank you so much for leaving such a kind review. Most people do not take the time to leave reviews on small projects. We really appreciate that."
"Thank you for the review, We had some issues with weather and our installer came down with pneumonia which lead to some minor delays. We did stay in contact and explained what was going on. We are usually very good with our time."
"Always a pleasure to work with you. Thanks again for the kind words."

nightmare. A two week job dragged out for over 10 weeks. Nothing was ever
cleaned up; they left the site with the toilet leaking all over the new floor.
Grit and cement pieces tracked all over our hardwood floors, windows left open
with air conditioning on. The main floor shower leaked into the basement on two
separate occasions when it was supposed to be finished. Zowd was notorious for trying
to take shortcuts on everything from prep work, clean-up, installing trim, and
painting. We got to the point that we would not leave them alone in our house
and we would inspect everything they did after the shortcuts we experienced. We
questioned them as to why they did not paint or install base trim in a corner
of the bathroom, they said the ?vanity will hide it? . . . we went on
contractor forum sites and everyone said that was wrong that the whole room
should be painted and trimmed regardless. By the way, if you want your door
painted by ZOWD you?ll need to instruct them to paint both sides or they?ll
only paint one side of the door. Like I said any shortcuts they can take they
take. The window trim they installed is literally even with the wall, they
finished the wall/trim by smearing joint compound to be level with the final
window trim. They really wore us down we just gave up and accepted it the way
it was and will get it fixed by someone that knows trim carpentry. The linen
closet door still won't close right. We have a list of everything that is still
wrong, but in order to avoid other disasters and just us wasting our time
knowing they have no idea how to correctly fix their poor workmanship, we just
decided to close out the contract. There is still no trim in the upstairs bath
in back of the vanity even though the vanity is on legs and you can see a
sloppily painted line that I guess is supposed to represent trim? We are going
to put the trim up ourselves and make the necessary repairs ourselves.
We would not recommend these people to anyone unless they
were having something demolished. They are jacks of all trade and definitely
not masters of carpentry, finished trim, plumbing, and clean up ? a drop cloth
is a foreign concept to ZOWD workers who have little to no respect for your
hardwood floors or carpets. They started on June 13th and besides a week's
vacation we already had planned was over 10 weeks to get a poor workmanship,
low quality job that was supposed to be
done in 2 weeks.
We are very disappointed in the referrals from Angie's List and would
definitely NOT recommend ZOWD for any remodeling project.
"In response to the (member name removed) review, we take great pride in our company and workmanship. We are a family owned and operated business, We put our name on the company because we back what we do. Please look at all the other review's we have received and you can see that. We also have pages of referrals that we can provide upon request. The contract was for $12,282 + there was a Time and material part of the quote. The (member name removed) never paid for any of the time portion, they never paid for material we picked up on there behalf nor did they pay for the extras that we performed. The statements they made are made up & fabricated. There goal was to get us tied into a contract then find every way possible not to pay for the work. I feel sorry for any contractor that does work for them in the future. The only reason they left a review on here was to hurt our name, Just spiteful. They stated that they got us off Angie's list which is not true, A friend of their's another client of ours recommended us to them. We still do work for the friend and have a excellent relationship with them to this day. As I said before I can pretty much go line by line from there statement and it is all made up. We do clean up after ourselves, We did not delay the finish, they did. They bought discounted faucets where the boxes had been open and parts missing and tried to get us to use them, when we explained this they would not take that as a reason. we had been contracted to do the two bathrooms and the kitchen floor but in there minds if the room connected to another room like through a door you are suppose to paint that room as well, Just not realistic. Very un-trust worthy people to work for we even caught them going through our lunch boxes at one point. The nightmare was ours trying to deal with them. We did finish the job and then some. It's very unfortunate that it had to come to this when we did everything possible to make them happy, But sometimes no matter what you do it comes down to people just trying to get out of paying you. If anyone has questions about this review we would be happy to answer them."

After deciding that we would go with Zowd for our projects, Tony set up a time to meet, sign the paperwork, and pick up a deposit. On the day of the appointment, I received a phone call that Tony would be unable to make it. I waited for a stream of excuses, but the man who called me told me that he would be coming to the house in place of Tony to keep the appointment. This turned out to be Phil Zowd, Tony's father and the founder of the business. He went over the paperwork with me in a clear and straightforward manner. We also talked at length about several other problems I have had with the house and he offered a number of suggestions and possible solutions. I never once felt like he was trying to sell me something I didn't ask for, nor did he ever try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge regarding home repairs.
We discussed a leak in the front of my kitchen that could not be fixed by 4 previous contractors. Phil had several ideas for how to fix the leak, and so we added this task to the list of projects.
The work was scheduled and completed on time. When there were some unexpected difficulties in finding the appropriate siding to replace what was removed, the Zowds always kept me informed of the process. I never wondered if or when they were going to show up. The siding work looks great. The new door is so much better than I ever expected. And, most amazingly, the leak in my kitchen appears to be fixed. Finally! And Phil assured me that if it leaks again in the future, to contact him right away because he hates to be wrong. :)
Long story short, working with Zowd Homes and Restoration has renewed my faith in professional home improvement. Phil, Tony, and Joe Zowd and the other gentlemen on their crew were a pleasure to work with. I will not hesitate to call them for any additional work I will have done to my house.
