"As much as we would have liked to completed this project for this customer. We were not able to get on the same page. They have been in breech of contract sense last year and have not made good on their contractual obligations. They added additional work to the plans and did not wont to accept that they would cost more money even though it was fully explained. They did not pay the architect for their specifically made plans for their project and made and added several alterations after the fact. Upon numerous times of asking when they would make the direct payment to the architect without response. The architect went out to their home to receive payment in person and was meet with disregard; so we ended up making the payment to their architect directly to keep in good standings. After all of this we found out that they were already in a legal dispute with their mechanical shop that they run in PA and had been given a demand that they had to evacuate the premise after court. This was then put on us as they had to move their shop belongings out to do so. They then when ready to get started after fully engineering the garage for commencement, ignored messages about mobilization and eventually responded with they had family matters and illness that they were dealing with. Which is completely understandable as these things happen. We meet onsite again and were ignored on the fact that anything had even happened. This job was scheduled to tentatively start the beginning of 2024. Sense then we have been in contact with mediation and have decided to issue a refund on deposit minus unpaid contract obligation. This is a real shame as we did fully get along with the customer even after trying to figure things through. I wish nothing but the best for this customer in getting their project completed."
"This project was contracted to tentatively start in the first half of 2023. We had a pre-construction meeting on April 26th at 830am onsite to go over commencement scheduling because we had just received notice that we were getting our permit released from the county. With intentions of starting towards the end of May. We ended up starting actual demolition work and framing on Monday June 5th The customer was in constant contact throughout the entire process; from contract review, to contract ratification, plans development, plans review, permit submittal, permit reviews, county permit review board changes made to the customer approved plans to update joist system to carry to cantilever load on the new addition; which fully indicated the size of the addition and cantilever restrictions and allowable loads. The customer saw and approved the plans and was also involved with the onsite measuring with our architect. So we did not build the addition smaller then what was discussed from plans development. We had to by county request double up floor joists and install LVL main beams that we did not charge extra for because it was discussed with the county and brought to the customers attention. At this point in time I had received multiple text message from Julie that were completely out of line and uncertain of why was sent as if I was reading a text message from my teenager. And when responded upon never replied or mentioned in person. So we started realizing that she was attempting to put words into my mouth. So I approached her husband Dan who was completely respectful and responsive the entire time. I told him that I am not sure why I keep getting asked to make promises or work on assumptions; as I had told them from go that I do not work that way. That I would tell them good, bad, or indifferent the entire time to keep communications open. I was then told that I am not to talk with Dan anymore that I was only to discuss with Julie as she is now the GC. I was honestly confused because Me and Dan and my HVAC crew has just had a great day and discussed details moving forward that Dan had involved decisions in. Upon starting a remodel/ New construction job like this I am not able to just drop roof trusses onsite day one as we need to first demo the existing roof off of the house in order to frame up the new second floor joists system, then we can correctly measure what the actual framing structure of the house is and what correct floor elevations are so that we can have the existing second floor and new second floors line up correctly. This also involves measuring for the correct truss heal height to accept county code required R49 ceiling attic insulation. We also need to match existing house roof pitch. I am explaining all of this because Julie thought that I had not ordered my roof trusses and was lying to her. I kept explaining the process to her that my roof engineer would deliver the trusses asap that week and she kept asking me to promise and I would not because I can not control a third party more then asking for first available. The plans called for a 4/12 pitch which is field verified and the existing house ended up being a 4.4/12 pitch. So if I had ordered and delivered the field verified blueprint trusses for Monday they would have been incorrect as I have to do due diligence to order the correct trusses for the application. So to line this up; we started on a Monday, framed walls on Tuesday, verified truss design on Wednesday, confirmand truss design and paid for trusses on Thursday, delivered trusses very next weeks Monday, installed set trusses and installed roofing shingles by day end; all within one week. So we were confused with the accusations so we just move forward. She also kept taking my yard signs out of the yard and wouldn't respond when asked where they were. This entire time Julie had been going behind my back."
