Fred was responsive, even during the busy weeks. He was friendly and patient in explaining things to me. He stuck to the original estimate even when the job became more complicated (as it always does in a 1920s house). And, he installed it when he said he would.

Quickly diagnosed cooling issue and thoroughly explained how he knew it required more refrigerant. Answered all questions (and I asked a lot) clearly and professionally.

Fred and his son showed up when they said they would and worked the entire day replaceing the outside compressor, and an inside 2 ton fan coil with all new equipment and tubing along with a new support platform in the attic, A new thermostat, plus he removed all the old equipment. I found Fred on Angie's list because I am new to the Stevensville area, and I have to say all the A ratings are spot on. Fred will be my heating and A/C go to person as long as I am in the Stevensville area.

I called Evans because we suddenly had a water leak in our kitchen. Fred Sr. arrived within an hour, quickly identified the problem as a clogged condensation drain line on the uptairs HVAC unit, and cleared the clog. Fred then changed the configuration of the drain line to include a removable plug so that I may clear the line myself in the future. He also advised that the clog was likely due to filters not being changed regularily (my bad).

Mr. Evan's is a 5-star professional. I hired him to do a pre-season check on my electric airconditioning/heating unit. He answered his cell phone within three rings of my call. He was friendly, pleasant, and knowledgable. He was easy to communicate with both in person as well as on the phone. He arrived precisely on time. He started work right away, beginning with my outside unit which had been making a loud clunking sound whenever it was activated. Mr. Evans cleaned the inside of the unit and the coils. He showed me how the electric connector box to the house had begun to wear out. The plug had begun to wear out and had burned out the connector unit inside, interfering with the electrical flow to the unit whenever it activated.. He measured the pressure and freon level in the outside unit, replacing a gallon of freon. Mr. Evans saved me from experiencing a compressor failure just in the nick of time. He also checked, cleaned, and replaced the filters on the inside unit. He was fast, efficient, and showed me each step of what he was doing so I understood the decision process. I plan to have him as my regular provider as a result of my experience. I highly recommend him.

Our heater had been only blowing cold air, so we reached out to Fred for a second time (we had used his services for our air conditioning as well). We called Thursday night and he was able to come early Sunday morning. He immediately figured out the reoccurring problem (not enough air flow leading to a build up of heat on the gas line sensor) and provided basic mitigation steps for us to take on our own (using different filters that allowed for more air flow). Personally he was punctual, efficient, and friendly. We will certainly use his services in the future for any issues we have with our A/C.

I really lucked out when I found Fred and Fred summer before last. We were moving into an old row house in DC and needed the AC repaired, and I had to pick a repair company with nothing more that my intuition to go on. The father and son team of Fred Sr. and Fred Jr. showed up, diagnosed the problem and completed the repair (replaced the coil) for a very competitive price, and we survived our first summer in the District in comfort!
Based on the job they did at that time, I called Evans yesterday to arrange for them to clean and service our furnace. Fred Sr. came out today, arrived right on time, repaired a leaky PVC pipe that is supposed to vent condensation but was instead dripping back into the furnace causing it to rust, completed the cleaning, etc. When all that was done and the tools put away, Fred spent extra time answering my questions and giving me some tips and tricks about furnace filters and ways to equalize the temperature between the upstairs and downstairs of our house.
Moving to a new city and into an old house, it can be really challenging to find repair providers that you can trust. Turns out, Fred is one of those guys. He is super-knowledgeable in that old-school way of folks that have been in the same business for many years, have seen and fixed it all, and take pride in their work. Won't try to sell you stuff you don't need. Friendly and respectful. I would recommend these guys to anyone that needs heating or air conditioning work.

Fred and Fred Jr. added a 2nd story system to our house as part of an addition we built. They made great suggestions about the type of system, duct placement, etc. They worked seamlessly with our General Contractor to finish the job on schedule and on budget. Couldn't be happier. When the time comes to replace/upgrade our downstairs system, Evans will be the one we call.

Hire at your own risk. They replaced a broken radiator with a new
baseboard heater. The next winter comes around, all the other radiators
in the house work and this and quot;newand quot; baseboard heater is not pumping out any
heat.
I called and asked if they could come out and check out
the work, and I was told to and quot;call another plumber.and quot; As I pointed out
that they were the ones that installed the heater so I trust that they
would know best on how to fix or bleed the heater, Fred (who by they way
help install the baseboard) said the person that did the work no longer
works there and they no longer do that work.
So here I am with a broken and quot;newand quot; baseboard heater and I now have to go to another company to fix the work that Fred did.

Our air conditioning had been acting up for a couple of months and we had no idea why, even after extensive internet research. We called fred at 7:30 PM and he was here at 9:00 AM sharp the next morning. He diagnosed that the coolant level was low and due to weather fluctuations allowed the coil to drop below 32 degrees and freeze up, shutting down out air flow. He also noticed our filiter was incorrectly installed (this is a new house for us), got us a low cost replacement, and even showed us a trick for getting better dirt removal by applying olive oil to the filter. He did all this in about only an hour and a half and was on his way with our A/C up and running again. He is a quality technician who is polite, professional, full of useful info and efficient! We will definately use Fred again when we get our heater serviced before the winter.

Received great service from Evans Heating and Air Conditioning. Called and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Fred Evans Sr. was punctual and did a thorough assessment of the problem. Gave an accurate estimate after initial visit, and was right on time early the next morning with the needed part and quick fix. Also gave some great tips on maintenance, and will definitely be calling Evans Hand AC going forward for any problems and annual maintenance visits. Can't say enough good things about the experience. Great company!

Fred Evans jr showed up on time and quicky found out what was wrong with the furnace.Fred Jr replaced the part and i was up and running in no time.

Fred Evans has come out a couple of times to help fix and air conditioning unit that has been a continual problem over the last couple of years. They were always punctual, and they quickly resolved the issue each time. In the end, I will probably end up replacing the unit, but in the mean time it is good to know there is someone I can depend on to fix it.
