J&G did an amazing job overall, and our yard looks beautiful. Their design is artistic, but they also excel at addressing technical issues such as proper drainage. The contractors cleaned up every single day, and also repaired areas where they had damaged the existing lawn. We highly recommend them.

Absolutely fantastic. I would hire J&G in a heartbeat and recommend them to anyone. The work product was the highest quality and the finishing details went above our expectations. We interviewed 6 different firms, and J&G came in under our budget and offered the most in terms of paver quality, options and finishing. Greg and Paul were highly communicative and answered all our questions. Can’t recommend enough.

Excellent. Designers who came to site were the only company who proposed the same scope of work suggested by my engineer and friend who is a trusted landscape architect. They examined the site carefully, explained everything to me, and proposed a functional solution. The price was higher than other companies, but their careful proposal was the only one that I had faith in of the three quotes I received (I am a structural engineer). There was a wait for the work to be completed, but once they began it was completed as promised. Professional crew, responsive project manager, good project communication throughout. Crew was willing to provide small adjustments to improve the final product.

The quality of the hardware that was installed is excellent. The water draining problem appears to be fixed (although their work has caused water damage in a corner of our basement where we have never before had a water problem in our 40+ years of living here). The patio blocks and the layout of the blocks look appealing. The backyard stoop also looks excellent. Our biggest complaint with this company is about how they handled communications about the changes that we desired and about our concerns. We informed them, in writing, within three weeks of their beginning the job, about our dissatisfaction with some of their design and plant ideas. The company representatives responded with defensiveness. In the negotiations that transpired, we reminded them that they had told us verbally, on day one, that they would work with us regarding the patio design, the location of flower beds and the plant selections. However, in the end, they were rigid in defending their written contract and justifying why we had to pay for plants and bed locations that we did not want. We paid what they demanded despite not being satisfied with the adjustment they made to the original contract when they planted considerably fewer plants than they first proposed, because we did not want those plants. This company does good work. However, we would not recommend using this company because they are so difficult to work with regarding changes and concerns that occur as the job proceeds. We would suggest that if one wants to use this company, that the consumer work to write out, very explicitly, in the contract, exactly how changes and alterations to the contract will be handled, including how adjustments in the fair cost would be made to accommodate changes and alterations requested by the consumer. All in all, the process was a very unpleasant transaction for us, although the quality of their work is good.

Their work was top-notch. They did regrading around our house as well as buried 2 drains to funnel water away from our house after we had basement flooding. Also did external waterproofing for 1 corner of the house/basement. After the work was completed we couldn't even tell how much had been done, they really incorporated everything into our existing lawn/landscaping and if anything it all looked better than what we had before! Their rates are a bit higher than others but I was much more comfortable with their knowledge/apparent quality upfront and was not disappointed.

The work crews were very skilled and effective in the practice of their crafts. Quality of the finished driveway and the stone work terrace was very high. Pavement is very smooth, even, thick and seamless, with smooth transitions to main road and to stone terrace.

I selected J&G landscaping based on the reviews listed on Angie's List as well as a recommendation from a close friend that had previously used their services. Our initial meeting with Jeff Potter (Landscaping Designer) went very well as we articulated our requirements to improve the hardscape and landscaping of our large corner lot. Jeff was able to provide us a detailed plan to replace the front brick walkway and brick patio with TechoBloc Pavers. The design included some very creative and innovative designs, improved the drainage by elevating the patio and inserting buried drain pipes and some major improvements in the landscaping adjacent to the walkway and patio. J&G was able to reduce landscaping costs by transplanting numerous bushes and perennials that were removed during the installation of the hardscape. The work took a total of five days which was scheduled by Greg Potter around our vacation schedule. We were also very impressed with J&G's timely and professional response to correct some minor deficiencies we noted and some changes we requested during the install. They definitely exceeded our expectations when the work was completed. We love it!! Our neighbors are very jealous!!! We look forward to working with J&G Landscaping on our next project.

We carefully supervised the work and everything was done well. We did have to provide some reminders on a couple of things that were in the contract that were not being performed when the work was being completed, but after the onsite supervisor called the company and verified our reminders, the work was done as per the contract. We also requested additional work to be performed outside the written contract, which included an extension to the rear stone patio by having them add more pavers. The company reduced their initial work estimate to meet our price after negotiations. We are overall content with the work performed and is of high quality. In addition, the company took great care to ensure that we were happy with the finished work, which also included ensuring that the landscaping was left with good appearance. At the end of the project we had two items we wanted the company to address; 1. A rear pipe was exposed and extended too far into the grass (tripping hazard and posed difficulty when mowing lawn), the company returned to cut the pipe so that it was closer to the mulched area and not as exposed. 2. A front corner 5" is exposed and drains to the driveway. The white pipe detracts from the home appearance and we are worried that it may be an issue with the home owners association. Unfortunately, the pipe could not be moved to be buried into the ground to drain further down the driveway. The company did address this issue via correspondence to let us know that it is impossible to relocate it. We recommend this company and will not hesitate to use them again for other work in the future.

We are very happy and grateful to Jeff and J&G Landscaping for solving our overwhelming landscaping problem.  We have a challenging property because we live backed up to a steep ravine and our driveway slopes down from the street to our house.  We had flooding issues in our basement and the heavy rain/flooding last spring blew a huge hole through our yard leading into the ravine.  Luckily, we found J&G on Angie's List and Jeff came out and diagnosed our problem - our property wasn't graded correctly to allow water to flow into the ravine like it should.  Jeff is very thorough and meticulous and it is obvious that he has a lot of pride in what he does - and he is very good at it!  He took the time on his initial visit to carefully explain everything to us - asked us a lot of questions and drew up a sketch of what he wanted to do.  A few hours after leaving he emailed us with a very detailed account of what we had talked about doing - everything was spelled out exactly - the materials they would use, who would lead the project, everything.  He had let us know we could email him with any questions or changes we would like - we did have some - and he answered all our questions thoroughly and noted all the changes we asked for.  We sent in the first payment and we were added to the work schedule.  (The last payment wasn't due until the work was finished.)  He put Ben in charge of our project - when it came time for work to start they gave us a call and Ben and Jeff both came out to walk through the property with us and go over the plans for the project to make sure everything was communicated.  Even though it had been over a month or so since our initial visit with Jeff, he remembered everything that we had talked about to the smallest detail!  We even added some things last minute (the shrubs and plantings along the fence and in the front of our property) and they added them to the project with no problem!  Ben and his crew were very polite and professional - work started on a Monday morning and ended on a Thursday.  We were able to go to work and come home to see a major transformation to our property every day and an extremely clean work site!  It has been a couple months since the work has been completed and we have had no drainage issues and our property looks fantastic thanks to J&G!  If you're looking for a landscaper, and especially if you need any regrading or drainage problems solved to your property look no further - these guys are the best!

I had several contractors (form Angie's List) come to my house last November to view the house and submit ideas and cost estimates for building a sidewalk and beautifying the exterior of the house.  I selected J&G because they seemed very professional, interested in performing the work, had some good ideas for me to consider, and did not charge me for a drawing of the work to be done.  I trusted them from the outset.
The work started in June, due to delays caused by the very cold and wet winter.  Once work started, they had a team at the house all day working, and they completed almost everything in five days.  They cut the blue stone to match the site, using special tools.  When they were done there were some discrepancies between what we ordered and what we got (i.e., they used mulch instead of the pea gravel we requested) but they corrected everything within a week.
I couldn't be more pleased with the craftsmanship. I'm taking this opportunity to thank them for their work, which I highly recommend.

Work was exceptional. They worked extremely hard to reshape our plants for the year. They took the time to cleanup the walks and driveways when finished.

We initially asked for an estimate from J & G due to minor basement flooding and a window well that filled up during heavy rain (separate issues).
After speaking with Jeff (the J in J & G) he and his landscape designer proposed a comprhensive plan to regrade our front and back yards, divert water from the house, and rebuild our front stoop, which we was in bad shape and in need of repair.
The paver and stoop work could not look better.  the rebuilt stoop not only enhnaces the appearance of our home, but it makes it safer and easier to get the front door with steps that are now to code and vastly imporved hand railing.  The landscaping looks great.
Most inportanly the regraded back yard no longer get muddy when it rains.  We have not yet had truly heavy rain to put the water diversion and window well to the test, but I am confident of two things.  One that J&G has done a thorough job. Two, if there are any issues, they will respond promptly and address them immediately.
Througout the work, J&G consistently, went communicated with me about what was happening and made sure to address my concerns promptly.  When we had an issue with inspectors, they jumped into to help provide drawings and information for the permit process. All of this was top notch.
A word on price.  J & G are not cheap - AND I THINK THAT IS A GOOD THING. You get what you pay for, and we paid a premium to have great service before during and after the work.  I wish Angie's List asked about "value" instead of "price."  For value, I would give J & G an A.

The whole team from J&G was great to work with from start to finish.  They took their time and gave us a lot of personal attention at the very beginning, which was a big help since the whole landscaping process was new to me.  They provided a very professional proposal, then significantly re-worked it in reaction to my feedback and came back with something that met exactly what I was looking for - incorporating all native species and things like that.  They also added a lot of features to the design which I probably would never have been smart enough to think about.  Ultimately, they helped me get my arms around coordinating several different backyard projects (building a porch, landscaping, fencing) with different contractors that all needed to be sequenced, and they provided useful advice in areas where I didn't even know I needed advice.
It wasn't cheap, but the price was completely reasonable and competitive for very high-quality work with great attention to detail.  As one example - they were more than halfway done with the patio before noticing that they had overlooked a minor design feature in the drawings.  Rather than not worry about it, or try to cover up the issue, they re-did the whole thing to ensure they were providing exactly what they had promised.
Bottom line is that the project got done right and it looks fantastic, better than I ever really expected, a great long-term investment.  Couldn't be happier about my decision to use them.

It was very good. I think the guy has like a masters or a PhD in landscape artifact and design. So, he was the only one that when we were having all these water problems in our house, draining into our garage, he was the only person who we actually had a solution. I think when they did the work, they were really professional and they did all the permitting and figured out everything without much involvement on our end, so it was very nice.
