TomKat Construction

To give a little history....Shortly after we moved into our home about 2
years ago, we realized we had a water problem in the basement.  A small
amount of water, but water nonetheless, was making its way in around
the sliding glass door.  Our first plan of attack was to replace the
sliders since we still had the originals from 1984 (yikes!).  This
didn't resolve the leak so we were given Kosta's information and called
him for help.  After a series of trial and error tests we finally
figured out where the water was coming from and had scheduled Kosta and
his team to come out and get the issue resolved.  Flashing on the
exterior of the home was installed around the sliding glass door,
interior drywall patches and painting were completed and ceramic tile at
the entry way was laid to cover the concrete slab that had previously
been covered by linoleum until we discovered the water.
A few
days after this work was done, we had a massive rain storm and we found
water still coming into the basement.  I, of course, called Kosta
immediately and within a day he was at the house trying to figure out
where the water was coming in.  Come to find out, we did not have just
ONE source of water we had TWO!  The water was no longer coming in the
original source but we found that it was also coming in from the main
level deck.  When the deck had been installed, it wasn't installed flush
with the house, it was installed over the siding which allowed the
water to creep in behind the siding and down to our basement....lovely. 
So the ledger board to the deck needed to be replaced and installed
flush to the house (without the siding in between it) and encased in
flashing to keep the water out.
One of our projects for this
summer was to replace the railings and floor boards so this project
wasn't entirely a surprise for us...we just needed to add the ledger
board replacement in the mix.  Kosta gave us a quote within a day or so of identifying the source of the water
and he got his team started within 2 weeks after that.  Kosta took care of getting the county permit and emailed me a copy to hang in the window.  They started on Wednesday
and were done by Friday.  We had our county inspection a few days later
and we were good to go! 
The quality of the work completed is fantastic and as we expected.  We are really looking forward to enjoying the deck this year!  This is not the first project that we've hired TomKat Construction for and it will certainly not be our last.  We would definitely recommend TomKat Construction to our family and friends.
