Edgar and his crew re-did the entire kitchen from start to finish. They demo'd the whole kitchen, down to the studs in the floor (The previous tile had cracked, indicating trouble with our subflooring. All new subflooring and insulation was installed, at Edgar's recommendation. Edgar was great about giving us suggestions of small (not expensive) additions that would add to the long term value of the renovation (e.g., under cabinet lighting). Edgar and his crew completed all of the appliance installations, electrical work, tiling work, cabinetry assembly and installation, and painting. He was easy to get in contact with, very easy to work with, and I generally had a good experience. I would recommend him.

They did a lot of work for me. There were a couple of communication hiccups but they were no big deal.

Edgar and his guys are fantastic! Initially, it was hard to get in touch with Edgar until we learned that text messages are best way to reach him. Edgar offered a reasonable quote, completed the job on time and on budget, and did a great job. In fact, he went above and beyond and installed our washer and dryer after the appliances were delivered. And he did the installation during Superstorm Sandy! We highly recommend Edgar and will probably be working with him again.

It went great! Edgar helped me get drawings, permits and offered many suggestions that really improved the design and layout. He was always professional, pleasant, and helpful. Unlike some other contractors, Edgar really seems to care that the work is done properly and that his client is satisfied. And his plumber and electricians were the same. Edgar commands a fair price, but didn't nickle and dime me with every tiny alteration in the plans. He understood my budget and made recommendations that made sense with that budget. While Edgar himself did not do most of the work, he closely supervised his crew, guys that he seems to know quite well. Yes, there were hiccups along the way - some unanticipated challenges, but that's how construction goes. With every challenge, Edgar made a variety of suggestions and we kept moving forward. The project did take longer than anticipated but that was due to some challenges on my end and also Edgar's other commitments. But with a smaller contractor, that is bound to happen. I would absolutely hire Edgar and his team again and would recommend him to my friends and colleagues. Construction takes time and there will always been unanticipated challenges, but Tikal Construction will get it done right and for a very fair price.
