The technician did not arrive as planned. Did not provide any documentation related to the work performed. Required a follow up call from us to get feedback.

SUM PUMP INSPECTION

The person inspected the furnace room where the sum pump is located. She opened the lid of the pump and said:" OMG, where is your floating device? Where did it go? This is not a good sign! I have to call my manager." The manager was not reachable. She made some pictures with her I-Phone to show them to her boss later. Then she went around the house with a flashlight and inspected the foundation of the house. 10 min later she called me:" I have to show you something. Do you see all these cracks here in your wall?" I saw a tiny little crack. She:" This is a bad sign. Your house has water under this wall that is pressuring and can not escape and will harm your wall very much in that way, that the wall might fall apart." Walking again inside the furnace room, she explained to me that her company has to dig a deep gap along the inside wall of the furnace room, holes have to be drilled along etc.etc. I was shocked, scared and asked, whether this is really urgently necessary. She assured this and mentioned a price around 3500 $ and it could be even higher. Her company would send me an estimate.

I have never heard from her resp. her company again.

The sales representative who came to do the inspection did not seem to be very knowledgeable.  She told us that the cracks in our walls needed attention and then described the service that their company would perform and gave us a quote for that.  Before she left I asked her about the sump pump and she had forgotten to even look at that, even though that was part of the deal we purchased.  She couldn't get the sump pump to turn on, but asked if we've heard it turn on in the past before.  I said we had and she said that it must be working.  A week later we had another inspector come out and he made it clear to us that the sump pump is badly in need of repair.  He said that the walls most likely do not need anything done to them, which was the direct opposite message we heard from this provider.

Update: Someone else from RJY Construction came out and inspected our sump pump after we called them.  I appreciate them coming out to perform this inspection and this person seemed much more knowledgeable than the first person who came for the inspection.

Rick arrived at my home and inspected my sump pump.  He was very knowledgeable and professional.  If I decide to go forward with any additional work, I would certainly use RJY.

I noticed after several rain storms that the carpet in my finished basement was soaked.  I called RJY for an appointment, and Rick surveyed the space after coming to the house -- He made a quick recommendation as to how the problem should be resolved.   A drain system was installed below the level of the foundation, along the rear wall, so that water will no longer be able to enter the basement from underground. The crew completed the work on schedule, and cleaned up the job site each day and upon completion of the project.   The crew was also great about moving items around in the basement while work was underway.  Wet carpet and padding were removed and disposed of, and a HEPA air filtration machine was set up to filter mold from the air.  All in all, it was a very good experience.  I had them back to install ceramic tile also, since I wasn't enthusiastic about installing more carpet in the basement.  Forgot to mention that a lifetime warranty for the waterproofing was included with the job.
