Oscar Corado supposedly owns a company called "Osalco," but I doubt that it is registered in DC or MD. We needed an HVAC specialist for our 6 unit apartment building, and he came highly recommended by my realtor. He is arrogant, but he always returned my calls and showed up to the job site on time. I used him because he would come at all hours of the day, and this made my tenants happy. He installed two new HVAC units for the apartment. You would think that since the HVAC is new, it should not have issues for at least a few years - I was wrong. There were problems starting just a few months after installation and I continued to have problems until I hired a REAL HVAC specialst. The new and real HVAC specialist said that Oscar did a shoddy job installing the HVAC units. The drain pipes were not glued, line caps were missing and the unit was not draining properly. There were freon leaks on the outside unit. He also installed thermostats for two units which was a BIG nightmare. For one unit, he had to come back every spring and every fall because the AC/Heat wasn't working. He would snip wires and reconnect the wires, saying that the HVAC unit is to blame because it is so old. According to the new HVAC tech, Oscar installed the WRONG thermostat, so he would come over in the spring to connect the AC wire to the thermostat. In the fall, he would connect the heating wires to the thermostat. What a waste of money! The biggest waste of money was in another unit where the tenant's electrical bill was super high (about $400-$500 per month for an apartment unit). I called him repeatedly, but his answer was always "it's the tenants' fault. He's cranking up the heat too high." After a few months of high heating bills, the tenant finally moved out. The same thing happened to the next tenant, and I lost her too. Our new HVAC tech found out what was wrong. When Oscar installed the new thermostat, he inserted both the heating wire and AC wire in the same slot, so the heating and cooling were going on at the same time. To make things worse, he installed the wires in the emergency heat slot in the thermostat, hence the high electrical bill. After a few of these mishaps, we fired him.
