MP Energy did a fantastic job for a very tricky retrofit that involved installing new ducts throughout the house. I’m very happy with the work.

The technician spent a few minutes to find out that there were leaves blocking a pipe that took in air for the unit. He told me to buy something (I'm not sure what or where to get it) that would keep the leaves from getting into the outdoor pipe. I don't even know where this thing is outside but it is under my (very low) deck. I cannot physically crawl under my deck. He didn't have the part. He charged me $95 just to come out and left without fixing anything.(Do your job!!!) I guess I was too stupid to insist he do something right then or measure it or write down the name and where to get the part. Good customer service would have been to do all the or even mail me the part (I would gladly pay for it.) Then this week my A/C quit. I thought it might be the same thing. I asked if they had any kind of discount because they had already fixed something similar a few months ago. No they don't. She also said they don't usually carry those parts on the truck. They had to come out and diagnose my A/C (for another hundred bucks?!). She said she could get a technician to call me first thing in the morning at 8:00 am. i said ok. No one called me back. This co. was suggested by my neighbors on our listserv but I would NEVER use them again.

I have been using MP Energy Services since 2012 when they installed a new hot water heater and replaced the coils on my central AC unit. Since then I have been using the company for spring and Fall inspections of my heat and AC units. This year the technician David came to my house to inspect the AC system on April 14, 2017. Upon checking the outside AC unit he said it was not working. He said one of the fuses was burned out and sent me to a nearby Home Depot for a replacement. I got 1 block from the house and he called me on my cell and told me to come back because the compressor was bad. He recommended a replacement of the AC and also the furnace because it was too old (1996). Marlon Pujol, the owner, came to the house the following day and recommended several efficiency options for replacing both the AC unit and the furnace which he said was in good shape for its age. I contacted several heating and AC companies for estimates for the work Marlon had recommended. The first company came by and replaced the fuse that was bad. The AC unit started right up and sounded quiet in its operation. They (owner and technician) asked me if I wanted to have them evaluate the AC unit and I agreed. The unit was cooling fine and the temperature of the cooling line was perfect. They recommended using the system until it no longer works. I have been using the system in 85 degree temps and the house is perfectly comfortable. I returned Marlon's call to see if I decided. I shared what happened and he hypothesized the technician’s meter was defective. It’s possible. Unfortunately, I now have a trust issue.

They are terrific. They put in my two heating and air conditioning systems. They gave me the best price. They did very difficult work, they were the only ones who said that they could do the work. Everyone else said no but they did it and they did it in a timely fashion. They did it beautifully. I was very happy with them. The workers were professional.

Initially the project was off to a great start. We worked well with Marlon and ended up getting a great product for a great price. Problems began though with his crew. Pol, was the head worker that Marlon placed on the project. Over the course of the project he did not show up 5, yes 5, times for appointments when I scheduled around his schedule to be there and discuss the project. I didn't even meet him till 3 days and 2 large problems into the project. Due to this we had a language barrier with the crew and ended up having holes cut in the floor where they did not need to be and a whole in our ceiling that ended up larger than it should have been. Thankfully Marlon took care of the ceiling damage cost. I asked his crew numerous times where he was and why he wasn't coming and no one could even answer. When I spoke with the main office, ie Marlon's wife, she told me he had an emergency each time.... I came home one day unexpectedly and found my new hardwood floors covered in debris down our entire staircase and hallway from where they had cut the large hole in the second floor ceiling for the air return. No drop clothes and they were happily walking on it up and down the stairs covered in plaster pieces and insullation. ie scratches to the new floors. So overall really not happy - lots of wasted time on my end for a bad employee. Better communication and lead management needed on projects.

So this is tough review for me. The crew that showed up did a good job. My problem involved Marlon and the office manager. I signed a very vague contract on April 1, but couldn't get them out here until July. When Marlen first did the estimate. He told me how bad having flex lines was. That no one would want to clean them. So I was really surprised to find they replaced my old flex lines with new ones. The contract was so vague it didn't even specify what they were using. When I questioned the work I was told Marlen would get back to me, but he was out of the country. There was never any sort of follow up or inspection of the work his team did. I will say the work seemed good for what they did. I just question the quality because the customer service was so terrible.

The Good: I reached out to MP Energy on the recommendation of a friend. I very quickly received a call-back from the owner (Marlon) and scheduled a free estimate at the house. He clearly knows his stuff and made some helpful recommendations. His price came in $700 lower than another quote I received. The Bad: You get the sense that the right and left hands don't have any idea what the other is doing. - MP Energy suggested an install date with a standard install window. I took the day off of work to be home. Half way through the delivery window I received a call from MP Energy stating that the equipment had not been received from the manufacturer and that they wouldn't be coming. Seems like they should have realized this at some point before install day. Sigh. Annoying but sometimes these things happen. I was still optimistic. - MP Energy then rescheduled for 3 days later and they said that they would call to confirm installation the day before the (re)scheduled installation. The day before arrived and by 5 PM, no call. I called them, left a message, and quickly received a call-back confirming that they would be there the next day before 10AM and that they had all the equipment for installation. Five minutes later they called back and said that they wouldn't be coming at all. Still no equipment. Another day of vacation wasted. My optimism was fading. - They suggested a third install date. Again, no confirmation call. When I reached out to them to confirm, they became argumentative about the install window. They stated that I was changing the install time. It wasn't until I forwarded their own emails back to them that they agreed to the original install window. It didn't much matter -- they didn't arrive during the appointed time. In total, I wasted two days of vacation time because of their disorganization. Throughout this process, I asked to speak to Marlon four times to express my concern and frustration about the fractured and disorganized communication. He never called back. I think that speaks volumes.

We have this horrible mold problem in our basement it’s due to improper insulation before the AC work happened and we have been in contact with them in the past couple of years. The owner repeatedly ignoring calls. And then he did come and then he somehow managed to convince my husband – I wasn’t there – that, well, the reason why we had the molds is we didn’t have the proper insulation and he can’t be responsible for that. It’s just been a real nightmare. We invited last summer two other AC contractors to evaluate the work and they said, I don’t know why they would put it in this way, it’s ridiculous. The quality of the AC unit is good. The air conditioning is good on two of our floors.
Response from MP Energy Services Inc
"The A/C system is installed in a finished basement and generally duct work in basements is un-insulated because we inside the envelope of the house. Two additions were finished on the back of the house and on the right side. They have crawl spaces. All of our duct work in crawl spaces is insulated and performs as expected. Neither of the crawl spaces were vented properly. A crawl space can be insulated and brought inside the envelope or it needs to be vented. Neither was done and all the joist cavities to the side addition are open across. I was going to try to help by getting someone to close the cavities, but there are too many. The humid air will find a path. A professional insulation company needs to be engaged to handle venting or insulating. We even tried to wrap some of the duct and even the insulation was sweating because the crawl space has no ventilation. I can work with the customer and get them the proper professionals to solve their problem. The upstairs is properly ventilated and has no issues--same ducts, same procedure."

It is an all around fantastic experience to work with Marlon to address your HVAC problems. His number one quality attribute is honesty. After getting close to 15 quotes from different HVAC companies, Marlon was the only one to address the old system's overall deficiencies, provide a comprehensive game plan to address the problems, and present a quote for services that was very reasonable. I asked 15 companies for a quote on the SAME EXACT system and I received quotes anywhere from $8k-$42k for the same job, same equipment model, and same scope of work. Many of those other companies did not bother examining anything in the house; they just walked in and quoted me a price and then tried to upsell many unneeded services.
Marlon cuts out all that pushy and dishonest s*$t. He tells you exactly how it is and exactly what it will cost. This honesty is followed by great pricing, vast knowledge of mechanical engineering, and a crew that is superb. The crew was meticulously clean, quiet, professional, on time, and respectful of us and our home.
I've since asked Marlon to come back to inspect and correct other subcontractor's work and have been nothing but pleased with MP Energy Services.

They came in on one day and removed and replaced the old gas-fired water heater. There was a problem the next day (one of the original valves was malfunctioning), and they came that afternoon and stayed until it was fixed. My house is toasty for the first time in years. Cleaned up after themselves, nice to deal with, very effortless, pleasant transaction.

The service was very friendly and personable. The receptionist was personable , she got us a quote and followed up with us the next day to finalize details. She was pleasant to speak to. We got a phone call 1 hour before the service man arrived. He arrived in the designated time slot and almost exactly 1 hour after calling. He got to work quickly and finished in less than 3 hours! Overall they took great care of us!

Fantastic overall experience with MP Energy Services. We obtained 5 total estimates from various HVAC contractors to install a new central heat/AC system to replace a poorly performing boiler/radiant heat system in a 90 year old home. MP's estimate was substantially lower cost than all others with higher-end (higher SEER rating) equipment spec'd. MP was also the only contractor that suggested separate systems for upper and lower levels for both performance reasons and to avoid the need to run large ducts from the basement to the attic. This ended up costing less than competitors bids and required almost no carpentry/repair work as all equipment and ductwork was installed in either the attic or basement. The owner, Marlon, is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain the various options and why the proposed system would work best. The installation techs - Miguel and Pol were extremely professional and polite and provided high quality workmanship. The system works better than expected. MP's office staff (specifically Jennifer) were helpful in scheduling the work and dealing with billing - a minor billing issue was quickly corrected.
Overall I would highly recommend MP for an HVAC installation or upgrade.

They did OK. They told use there was a problem with one of our parts and quoted us a price that was somewhat high. Doing some research on that now.

Terrific. Marlon Pujol and his team could not have been easier to work with. Marlon provided a variety of options for replacement gas heating and AC units, all at extremely competitive prices. Extracting the old system was a difficult job that was performed perfectly. A $1,000 manufacturer's rebate that required extensive documentation was handled by MP Energy for me and Marlon followed up with a visit to fully explain the operation of the new equipment.

MP's quote was $500 less than other company. MP Energy also pointed out that the current evaporator was not the efficient for my system and for an additional $100 installed a more efficint evporator coil.
Work was done when promised and on cost.
I dinged MP a little because it took a while for them to get back to me, they were very busy at the time.
The construction that they did to install the larger evaporator coil loosened a lot of dirt. Several months later I discovered that the dirt had clogged my air filters. Anyone who has work that bangs the air ducts on an older house should check the air filters after the work is done.

Excellent work by dedicated professionals. Two high quality Carrier Infinity systems installed - one in attic and one in basement, so no ductwork had to run between floors. The team did a great job, Marlon filled out rebate paperwork personally, and the guys came back on several occasions to troubleshoot an electrical issue that was not related to the a/c installation. I have since called the office once or twice with other questions, and they are extremely responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to highly recommend MP.

Marlon mapped out a complete overhaul of our ancient A/C and duct system. While I was initially skeptical that his crew would be able to pull off all that Marlon promised (he is not humble when it comes to what he and his company can do) for our older brick home, they clearly knew what they were doing and were able to solve problems as they arose during the job. The crew was also conscientious and unbelievably tidy, including leaving little drywall patching for me to do afterwards. The effect on the climate control in our home has been marked and quite satisfying. Easily among the best experiences that I have had with a contractor.

Everything went exactly as advertised -- no surprises, no problems. Furnace was hard to access, but M.P. workers moved mountains of boxes to do the work. Marlon Pujol is the person you will work with on the front end. Marlon is extremely knowledgeable and will explain at any level of detail requested the advantages and disadvantages of the many options that are available. His pricing is very competitive--much lower than other estimates I received--and his firm has an excellent reputation for doing quality work. I would also recommend Dynatemp for HVAC work. Although I did not use them for this particular job--their pricing was at least 10 percent higher for equipment that was of a slightly lower-grade than what I purchased--I know they employ very good service technicians.
