There were a some issues because some of the original plans and some changes that were made were not communicated to the men who were going to do the work. For example, the workers did not know that the original plan called for old carpeting to be removed from the stairs that led into the living room. All of these type of issues were corrected, but we did have to spend a lot of time making sure that all of our wishes were in the finished project.
The final product is beautiful.
They showed up when they were supposed to cleaned up each day and Charles was the lowest of three bids we received.
They were also patient with me because the flooring company sent the wrong floor and it took some time to get the correct stuff.
I always felt my questions were answered in a timely manner and answered well.
- Completely demolished the existing bath and rebuild it slightly larger
- Added a whole new second bathroom, including the necessary water and wastewater hookups
- Added a new kitchen
- Re-designed three existing rooms into a larger living / dining room space and a nice sized bedroom with build in closets
- Replaced existing carpet and vinyl with new wood and tile floors
- Replaced existing drop-down ceilings with drywall
- Added two egress windows in the bedrooms
- Repainted throughout.
Charles and his crew performed all of this work very diligently and thoroughly and our basement looks beautiful now. He made sure to point out all potential pitfalls regarding permits (e.g. installing the egress windows in the bedrooms) and generally gave us helpful advice on how to improve our lay-out.
There were a few times where I wish communication would have been a little quicker and it lead to a couple of small misunderstandings, but overall he was better than other contractors I had used in the past and we as customers were not stuck with any of the resulting problems. He also made sure small issues that came up after the completion of the work were taken care off quickly and at no additional charge to us.
Overall I would highly recommend using Charles and Home Run Remodelers for your contractor needs.
I would highly recommend him. We plan on having our master bathroom re-done with him in the next couple of weeks.
I had an existing deck updated and reinforced. the cost was not the cheapest but the work was very good. design was substantial, build out was to code and new supports proved to create a hardy structure for the deck. My biggest concern was to match another deck that was built in 2009. Charles was able to make the rails, treads and balusters perfect match. except his teams handiwork was far superior to the original installers. We are quite pleased with the results. Yard disruption was minimal and the work site was left in near perfect condition.
His workers were professional and did a great job. We would definitely hire them again and would certainly consider them for larger jobs. Our job was particularly small for them, but unlike other top rated Angie's List contractors, he fit us in between their jobs rather than not responding or turning us down. All this was clear to us and fit our schedule perfectly. Other contractors need to understand this. I don't need your full schedule, but any level of transparency is a plus for the consumer.
Keep up the good work guys.
I ended up not buying the property because I was outbid, BUT I WILL USE MR LEE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE.
He made sure our entire project ran smoothly, even when unexpected problems like pinhole leaks turned up. He actually started to repair the problem himself since he was on site at the time! Also, Charles stuck to the budget in our proposal. We knew there would be several options for carpeting in our basement and that our proposal had included an estimate for a middle of the road carpet. When Charles gave us samples to choose from, I was concerned that the one we picked would be out of our budget. Charles assured us that all of the samples he had given us were within the budget of the original proposal. He said it was important to him to make a budget and stick to it. I really appreciated this attitude and his honesty.
What is more, we had several estimates for the work, and Charles' estimate was the lowest by several thousand dollars. We were a little worried that perhaps the quality of the work wouldn't be as good since his price was the cheapest, but boy were we wrong! I cannot stress enough how pleased we are with the work his company did. Not only is Charles a perfectionist, but also all of his crew members are. Our basement and family room look beautiful.
I believe that we paid a fair price for what we got. It was not cheap, but the work ethic of Home Run Remodelers and the quality of the job that they performed warranted the price we paid. Charles made sure that we were happy with everything before taking our final payment, having his workers come back to our home to perform a few last tweaks that we noticed needed tweaking.
We are definitely pleased with the results and would happily have Charles and his crew come back to do more work for us.
We received a written proposal promptly via email and accepted. Mr. Lee set-up a second appointment to walk through the specifications and make sure we understood, before accepting our 25% deposit. (A deposit was necessary because the project included high cost, special order, materials. The windows were ordered promptly and when they arrived we scheduled installation. Work took about three days as scheduled even though it was over 100 degrees each day and most of the work was out of doors!
What a joy to come home and see the work finished. The workmanship was very good. We think that Mr. Lee's understanding of our needs and his suggestions enhance the results. The double hung windows make our living area inviting and the look system on the basement door makes the basement exit easy to use.
We would recommend that in the future the owner, Mark, have some type of communication directly with the client, during the work, especially since those performing the work may not be able to communicate as well as he.
"We did NOT get this project. We did give her an estimate but she went with someone cheaper. We do NOT have any Mark working for our company."
