FANTASTIC !!! The work was excellent. They gave me a quote that was one third the cost of the estimate I got from my dealer. No fuss, no hassle, they charged exactly what the estimate was. Very professional operation!

Hanigan's discussed with me the cost of new vs. after-market parts to repair the 18-year-old car and left the decision which to use up to me. The repairs were completed quickly. The car looks terrific.

Excellent. The quality of the work done is excellent. The work was finished a day early. They washed the car and vacuumed the inside before returning it to us. We've used another auto body shop in the past but we will definitely return to Hanagan's if we need work (let's hope not).

The repairs look great, even though they apologized for the difficulty of matching our particular auto paint. They forgot to clean up the car when done, so it was a mess in the back, but when we complained they did what they could to make things right, which is all I can ask. No one's perfect, so the key is how mistakes are responded to.

They are honest and will go the extra mile. Superior customer service I would use them again.

The original independent estimate did not include original manufacturer's parts.  
Hanagan's requested a new estimate which my insurance approved.
All new parts and the vehicle looks great.
If Angie's list allowed reviewers to provide photos you would agree.
Communication with Hanagan's was excellent.
They responded to each email and phone call that day.

This is unfortunately the 3rd time I've had to bring a car to Hanagan's for body work but I keep coming back because they do a great job. All three times have been through insurance claims with USAA but my experience dealing with Hanagan's has been great. They are a preferred shop through USAA so I honestly haven't shopped them around and can't comment on their prices. But their customer service and body work are great. The first time I brought a car to them was for a major dent in the side of a leased car. When we picked the car up they mentioned that they fixed a couple other very small dents on the car while they had it there. We were incredibly appreciative as this meant we didn't have to worry about those when turning it in at the end of the lease. They are nice people, quick to get things done, responsive and they will return your car totally cleaned outside and at least spot cleaned inside (front seat).

I found them through Angie's List. I was shocked at how reasonable they were and they were really good. I was really impressed. They were outstanding. I would use them again, and I have recommended them to other people.

When I took my car into get an estimate they were not even going to go outside and look at my car. I explained to them that the insurance company I was working with told me to obtain 2 estimates from 2 different auto body shops. They said they did not do it like that and went on to explain something that made no sense! I had to beg and plead to have someone simply go outside and give an approximate estimate. They kept telling my that there was no way to know what kind of damage was in the inside. I tried to explain that is why it is called an "estimate". They finally went out and came back inside and typed an estimate up. Fortunately this was my 2nd auto body shop. I took that estimate and went back to Sterling Auto and scheduled to bring my car into them. Had the work done and Sterling took care of everything, the paper work, rental, dealt with the insurance company. Also note, Sterling's rating with Angie's list was an "A".

Great. Scheduled time was kept and my car was returned when promised. The repair job was outstanding. My familyhas been a customer of Hanagan's Auto Body for many years; totaling three generations.. We would not trust our automobiles to any other body shop.

Tony Hanagan himself came out to my car. There was a bad windstorm and a shutter put a big scratch along the hood of my brand new car. He had every opportunity to say that we have to repaint everything, but he said: "Let me try something". He himself in the hot sun, washed off, cleaned off and did whatever he had to and got the scratch completely gone and he refused to take any payment for anything. He just said: "It's my pleasure".

I phoned them and took the car to several shops. They were the low bid, were very prompt and professional AND friendly! The car took several days to repair but that was to be expected.

They were very upfront, and honest about the nature of the work required. They were very prompt, and nearby to where I live. It's a family run business that has been in place for over 40 years. The quality of the work was excellent. The price was very reasonable.

Ours was a non-insurance repair of damage and scrapes received over the past couple of years in parking lots and other public locales. Hanagans provided an estimate for the repair, arranged for a rental car at a courtesy rate, and completed the work to our full satisfaction within the time indicated on the estimate, and at a cost that was more than $200 lower than we'd expected. The refinishing job on our car was superb, involving two fenders, the front bumper and major damage to the boot cover. A family owned business in operation for 50+ years, we highly recommend them for major and minor auto body work (including collision repairs) without reservation.

Chose this shop based on Angie's list recommendations after finding that body shop recommended by Geico had awful reviews. The repair was 100% satisfactory. I cannot see any hint of what was fairly major damage, and the paint match is excellent. They completed the work in the time estimated by Geico, and at the price estimated.
As other have noted, this is in a rather inconvenient location in down town Silver Spring, with no off street parking (parking meters only); but given the long track record of this shop, and the generally +ve reviews, its worth the inconvenience, and I'd go there again. My impression was that this was a family owned business and that they cared about what they were doing, as opposed to a run of the mill body shop that insurance companies funnel work to.
My only, minor, issue was that I asked to be notified by email on a daily basis the status of the repair (they offer this as a choice of contact when you complete paper work on sign in), but I never received a single email, and had to call a couple of times to see how things were going, and when car would be ready. Receptionist who handled paperwork seemed 'out to lunch' ...
