The mowing is completely disappointing. They come every two weeks or so, and are maybe here for 10 minutes. They barely cut the grass; the next day it looks like it wasn't mowed. The mowing teams also break things and then don't tell you. One team broke a solar lamp and then hid it behind the wood pile. I reported this to the office and they did not respond. The spring clean up was fine; they trim, weed, and lay mulch. The fall clean up was okay too except they left a huge pile of debris in the street right in front of our house -- it was very late in the day so I was really annoyed because I didn't think anyone would pick it up but then the big vacuum truck came and collected the debris. The garden rehab was fine -- I didn't think it was too expensive for the work done and it adds a nice look to our property. HOWEVER -- and isn't there always one? They only seem to perform well on "big" projects like stonework. The mowing is very poorly done and they barely trim the edges. They charge $50 per mowing and like I said, very poor quality. The team is barely there 10 minutes for a good size piece of property. I will say they did a good job on the HUGE clean up we had when we first moved in (the property was empty and not cared for) but again, they only perform well on BIG projects. Regarding customer service, they are terrible. They always act put upon when you call with questions, and they are lousy communicators. They do not send detailed invoices. If you call about why the invoice is what it is, they act offended and act like you are trying to skip out on your payments. They also do not invoice in a timely fashion. For example: The garden rehab project was done in May. I did not get an invoice until TWO MONTHS later, and all it said was that over $4900 was more than 30 days past due. No explanation. So I called about it. Again, they acted like I was trying to skip out when all I wanted was some details. To be honest, you think after two months you have paid. Anyway, I also had sent an initial payment to them of $1350 which was returned to the bank. Why? They use TWO DIFFERENT ADDRESSES on their invoices. Like most people, I used the one on the invoice. Surprise -- it was the wrong address lottery and I won. They don't answer the phone at the office most of the time, and many times when I call the voicemail boxes are full. And if it isn't and you leave a message, the odds are they won't call back. Overall, while the "big" projects were done well and I didn't think they were unfairly priced, this is a rather unprofessional operation that does not understand the need for good customer relations. Their office operations seem in disarray and always seem 2 months behind. They don't do the small things well and that tells you something about a company's attitude and performance.

I have used Four Feet to the Yard for multiple projects, as well as routine mowing. They perform the services requested, on time and on budget, again and again. This is a local family-owned and run business that cares about its employees as well as its customers. Highly recommend giving them a try.

This company is superb. I hired them many years ago after becoming dissatisfied with the local franchise of a chain that kept raising prices and providing lower quality service. This is a local family-owned business that cares about its customers and values and treats its employees like family (many are). They send out a periodic newsletter providing advice about what to trim, what to water, and what to plant in light of the seasons and the weather. I have recommended them to multiple neighbors and friends.

We use them every week. They have been working for us for years, and it's not just one specific job. They make gardening visits too. We have a designer who works with them. They are very competent and do a good job. They are reasonably priced too, but we can get lawn mowing for cheaper. They send a lawn mowing crew and also send expert gardeners for gardening visits. Their price is a little higher than the norm, but it's worth it. Sometimes they are stretched when the weather is bad. We have to take account of that. Sometimes when it's raining a gardening visit is just not possible. They send out what they call annual maintenance projections. They list everything that they do including how many visits they have done in the past. That's one thing I like about them.

Overall, good company. They are not so great on billing. We stopped lawn service in October and were still billed through December/January... making it difficult to track work actually done compared to what was billed. Lawn service was good.

These are experts at keeping your yeard very pretty! But they will tell you up front that "either you control your yard or we do" which means no 'al a carte' was possible, at least when I used them. They got grass to grow where nobody else has. The yard never looked more beautiful. But when I felt I was overspending on yard service on such a small yard, a manager (owner) was not too polite about telling me that they have to decide what is needed, and that I could not. So I didn't use them after that, feeling uncomfortable at that attitude. Still, they were, as far as I can tell, the best, if the most expensive service we've used, giving us a great looking lawn that has never been matched since. So I'd use them again, if I had unlimited cash. (Our yard is a postage stamp front and rear -- see the pricing above -- that was for 6 months of services.)

I liked their service very much but I wish they didn’t cost quite as much. They did very high quality work. I didn’t have any complaints about their quality of work. It took a while for them to come out but I realized that they had to wait until they got a certain number of jobs in the area to make it efficient for them to come out. I wasn’t sure about their location. All the providers whom we contacted had the same issue since they wanted to wait for at least 4 days until they had enough work so that it would be inexpensive enough to hire guys for the job. I think it’s pretty common especially for yard and lawn work. They have got a fair number of routine clients in the neighborhood. So I think they didn’t have to wait for too long to find enough customers to send out a crew on the same day. They want to wait until they have enough work. They came out and did the work. They didn’t tell me that they were coming. They did a complete job. They took a look and knew exactly what needed to be done. They did the work for the price they told that they were going to do. I was in contact with one of their departments to resolve some billing questions and they responded promptly as well as accurately. I would probably not use their services in the future and it’s only because of their price. The price was what it should have been even though I didn’t want it to be so high. However, they were able to come out and do the work. They did a great job.

Carter was very responsive when I asked for an estimate and came promptly. They provide a detailed "menu" of services -- you choose only what you need. This is a good approach that allows you to pay only for what you want/need. The crew came when promised and did a nice job. They forgot to edge one bed but when I emailed Carter he sent someone back promptly. The weekly mowers have come consistently so far... yard looking much better than ever before.

"Kind words, thanks very much. I'm glad things have worked out thus far, I really appreciate the note. Carter has gotten really good at estimating (accurately and promptly) and we're very lucky to have the same crew returning every year. I will pass along your words to the crew who did the cleanup work (and the mowing crew), they LOVE hearing when their customers are pleased with what they've done (and they'll usually get a bonus). Thank you very much, Mr. Padilla."

"Our folks really enjoy working for this member. We are pleased that they've been pleased thus far. It's our goal to have long term relationships with our customers based on communication and good workmanship. We've only worked here one full season, it's out hope that will be many more good years."

My yard was the best looking yard in the neighborhood. I'd love to use them again next year but I don't know if I want to pay that much money for it.
Response from FOUR FEET TO THE YARD
"THE MEMBER IS WONDERFUL. WE FEEL LUCKY TO WORK FOR HER. SHE CALLED US TO ASK US TO DO THE SAME WORK IN THE SPRING AGAIN. THE PRICE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SAME, BUT BECAUSE WE WERE ABLE TO DO THE WORK MORE QUICKLY WE DISCOUNTED THE WORK BY $400. IT WAS NICE TO CALL HER TO GIVE HER THE GOOD NEWS."

The estimate was given at the initial evaluation with no pressure to accept the offer. Carter Stallard is an easy going and knowledgeable landscaper and he was pleasant to deal with. On the scheduled day the landscape team was punctual and we discussed everything that was to be done before they began work. There was open communication all around. They did a tremendous comprehensive job and finished under the time they had initially allowed. They gave attention to detail even installing wire along the fence to accommodate a vine plant. The yard is lovely and a delight to be in. I am a gardener but the yard work had become much more than I could handle. Now I can do the small things with respect to gardening that I enjoy. I thought they were reasonable for the amount of work done. The contract was for one cleanup, etc. because they don't service my area for regular yard maintenance (mowing). I will contract with them for landscaping needs throughout the year.

THESE GUYS ARE COMPLETELY FULL SERVICE, THEY CUT THE LAWN, FERTILIZE AND WILL EVEN DO SHRUB REMOVAL IF YOU NEED THEM TO. THEY COME OUT EVERY TWO WEEKS AND DON'T MESS AROUND WHEN THEY GET HERE. IT ALL LOOKS PERFECT WHEN THEY GET FINISHED.
