This company has replaced/installed flooring for us several times in the past.  We were always satisfied with their work.  Since ownership there apparently changed the company is no longer the same reliable organization that served us well in the past.
Floormax refinished the hardwood flooring on one floor.  Within months the very costly upgraded polyurethane finish started to come off the floor.  Floormax told us that was caused by dogs sleeping on the floor.  Bona, manufacturer of the coating, said that the finish ostensibly applied by Floormax was suited for heavy duty commercial use.  Dogs should not damage it.
Floormax also replaced the carpet on another floor with commercial style carpet tile.  While installing they damaged network cabling.  Damaged cables could not be repaired and were replaced.  Television cabling, previously hidden under existing carpet was left on top of the carpet, unsightly and creating a trip hazard.  Television cable hidden under carpet at doorway was left exposed, where it did prove to be a trip hazard.  Metal joiner used to connect carpet in adjoining rooms is brass.  All other hardware in those rooms is nickel.
When we asked Floormax to remedy these issues they declined.  We will not use them again and suggest others avoid Floormax.

The work was performed as agreed, in considerably less time, and with considerably less disruption, than I anticipated. They will carpet the remaining floor of the house when we decide on the material to use.
This company replaced the floor in our kitchen and an adjacent bath some years ago. When some of the tile failed they were prompt in resolving the issue. They completely credited the tile floor and replaced it with another material, in those two rooms and in an new addition as well. Our positive experience with them at that time insures we go to them for all of our flooring needs.

After installation we determined that the manufacturer gave them the wrong shade of Oak. Even though it was not their fault, they came in, sanded it down and re coated it at no extra charge. Great Service.

Went to the store to look at flooring. The sales staff was responsive in allowing me to look and answered all my questions. It was when I narrowed my choices down (hardwood vs ceramic vs vinyl tile, etc) to one particular brand and style that things became difficult! I asked to take samples of the chosen one (different colors) and was told store policy was limited to 2 choices. I asked about getting a cost quote and when someone could look at the site conditions (existing flooring was over 25 years old and had issues). I was informed they give and quot;estimatesand quot; based on approximate square footage and to actually visit the home and look at it would be $75.00, which would be deducted from the cost if I proceeded to use them. In all my years I have NEVER paid for an estimate. In fact, I held a long term job in which that is what I did (in a related construction trade). New construction projects you can give a bid off of drawings or square footage, but a house 25 years old you need to look at the conditions. I have had windows, doors, HVAC replaced and always they came and measured ,looked at it ,and gave a quote. I proceeded to leave, drove to another dealer and what a world of difference. They answered all the same questions, gave me all the samples I asked for, and then some. Even gave hardwood flooring samples and offered to look at the project the next day. When I asked how much was the cost to come look, the owner got this puzzled look on his face and said and quot;no cost, no commitmentand quot;. Needless to say, this dealer did everything he said he would and it ended up his pricing was in my budget. I chose to go with him. Sorry Floormax!

We visited their showroom twice, brought measurements the second time and made our purchase within days. They helped us greatly by offering to store the merchandise in their warehouse for several weeks, until our contractor began the renovation. We greatly appreciated that.

Overall, the process was fine. although the carpet i selected initially was not available in the quantity needed, the sales person was able to give an upgrade at a better price. The carpet installers were quick and efficient, removing the old carpet and installing the new carpet in under 3 hours. The tile installers returned on a saturday to finish the job, rather than leave it uncompleted over the weekend.

It was very frustrating about the ordering. We had talked to them for a while and then decided not to do a huge remodel. This was just for a smaller job. Ray was the person who did not follow through with this work.

The management has called me about this situation but they couldn't help me at that point. They had called me within a few days.

Both the stair banister and entryway hardwood floor had 15 years of wear and badly needed to be refinished. In addition, we had a carpeted stairway that we wanted to convert to a hardwood staircase. During the sales process with Floormax, the representative provided a comprehensive walk-thru, giving details of the work to be performed. I was quite impressed with his demonstration of knowledge and thoroughness. The expectation that he had set was that we would have a “like new” finished product on all three aspects of the project (hardwood floor refinish, banister refinish, and new staircase). Unfortunately, I feel that they failed to meet the level of quality that we had hoped. When the crew arrived on the first day I attempted to discuss the details of the project with the person in charge. While I’m not convinced that the individual with whom I spoke was actually in charge, it appeared that he spoke the most English and was the designated spokesperson. Unfortunately, his English was only slightly better than my Spanish (I don’t speak any Spanish). So, effective communication with the crew was an extreme strain and pointless. But because the job was pretty straight forward, I felt hopeful. The first phase involved the refinishing of the stair banister. The end result looked great, but to the touch of the hand it felt very rough in texture, so much so that my wife I were concerned about the threat of splinters when running a hand both up and down the stairs. When I initially contacted the sales representative about it, he seemed somewhat skeptical that it was an issue and indicated that he would check-up on it with the crew. I did not hear from the sales representative for follow-up. Much later, I consulted with an alternative hardwood floor specialist for advice on fixing this issue – he suggested using a medium abrasive scouring pad from the kitchen to smoothen the roughness, which worked like a charm. With respect to the floor refinish and installation of the hardwood staircase, the finished product was somewhat disappointing. Similar to the banister, the surface of the stairs were surprisingly rough and what I felt to be unpolished. When going through the sales process, it was indicated that the bathroom fixtures were going to be removed (toilet and sink pedestal) for sanding and refinish. This did not happen, so there is now a noticeable difference in the color on the floor where sanding was unable to reach up under these fixtures (does not seem as professional as I hoped). The worst was in the entryway closet where the floor had not been touched with sanding, so when they applied the new finish, it was not absorbed in the wood and left behind a gooey mess that was awful. I called the main service department and scheduled to have the crew revisit to repair the closet mess at the very least. I was concerned about addressing any details of the quality issue, because I knew that translating to the workers was going to be a struggle. When the crew arrived to repair the closet issue, simply pointing at the flaws was sufficient. They clearly saw my disappointment with the results in the closet, the stairs, and banister. I was pleasantly surprised that they revisited both the stairs and entryway floor with an additional application of both sanding and refinish. So in the end the quality of the second attempt was better than the first. After they had completed their work, I spent an additional four to six hours of work putting the final touches to complete the job. I am pleased with the end result of both the stairs and entryway floor, but I would not recommend Floormax for this type of work – in my opinion, carpets are their stronger focus, not hardwood.

They advised against putting down hardwood in the basement. They put down Armstrong tile in wood strips. You would swear it's an actual hardwood floor. They came back, ripped out the carpet in the living room, and sanded and refinished the hardwood floors.

This is the second time we have worked with Masoud at Floormax Carpet 'N Things. He really cares about his customers and makes sure they get everything right. On more than one occassion he dropped off samples at our house and just seems to go above and beyond what would be required to make the sale. He does not follow the usual sleezy tactics and sales pitches that seem standard at most carpet/flooring stores. I would easily recommend both Masoud and Floormax.

They are very professional and they are a little more expensive than other companies, but I will always call them because of the first experience I had with them. They installed carpeting in a townhouse I was living in about 20 years and there was a line across the living room. It wasn’t very noticeable but they tried to steam it out and roll it out and finally they said they would replace the carpet; I didn’t even ask them to, they just did it. They do excellent work.

They worked around our contractors. I was impressed with how accommodating they were with their schedule. They do excellent work. They do very good quality work. They subcontract their work, but everything is managed through Carpet 'N Things. They have always been professional to work with.

Their price was considerably less than other places. I shopped at 3 places for the same piece of carpeting. They would have delivered it, but we chose to save a little money and we picked it up. They did what they were supposed to do.

The two Installers arrived 15 minutes early and worked from 8.45 AM to about 7.00 PM. They were very professional, friendly and polite. We left the house in the morning and returned about 3.00 PM. They put back the large pieces of furniture and left the small pieces to us as we requested. They cleaned up nicely and got rid of the old carpet and flooring. Near the end of the day, my wife noticed a small piece of molding had been omitted because they judged it unnecessary, being under the dish washer. However, they readily agreed to install the molding at our request. We are very happy with the end result.

It went very well. They were very knowledgeable, clean, and always on time. They did the work in the amount of time they said they would, and I was very pleased with the work they had done. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the floor, and have told many people who did it.
