I was nervous, though, because I had read a bad review, but I figured there was no harm in getting an estimate.
The bad review had, by the way, already elicited a reply from the body shop's management, indicating that the customer had taken his car home, dismantled the interior of the door assembly, made a total hash of it, then came back complaining. Sometimes managers can be a bit self-serving, but that's not reasonable behavior from a customer. In the end, I decided to ignore that complaint and trust what I saw. I'm glad I did.
"He brought his 1995 BMW 318ti in on 06/24/08 to have us repair the left Interior Trim Panel and replace the Right Window Motor. The vehicle was picked up on 06/27/08. On 07/25/08 he brought the car back complaining that we did not put the door back together properly and that it was falling off. We brought the car in the shop and asset the problem with the technician. We could not figure out how the top of the panel was pulling away because of the way that we know it attaches. When Tiffany Duncan "The Shop Manager" went up and questioned him about what could have happened, he reluctantly admitted that he had pulled at the top of the panel to see if we had actually replace the Window Motor. She responded that we would do our best to reattached the panels for free but that they should be replaced. We did the best we could with the panels and he was happy with that. On 12/8/08 he returned again and now asked for the owner. When I went up to the office to meet him he told me that we had worked on the car in the past and that the door panel was coming apart. He failed to tell me the history of the repairs. I brought the car in to see what I could do with the panel and Tiffany came and asked me what I was doing to the car. I told her about his complaint as the technician walked up and they both told me the history of the prior issue with him. They both also told me that we would need a new panel and that they had already addressed this with him. I went back up to the office to talk to him. I informed him that I was willing to try something but that I was just informed of the history of the prior issue and that Elite was not responsible but I would try and help. He told me that I was wrong and that My Manager Tiffany Duncan was lying. At that point I tried to get him to understand that I would help him if he was willing to admit to the prior issue. He strongly informed me that Tiffany was lying and I should not trust her. At that point I told him I could not help him and that I would bring his car out to him and he could leave. Not being present for the other repair, I have to believe what my Manager says because I know as well as all of my technicians that the door panel does not come off the car the way that it has been stressed. The way the panel looks resembles the story of him trying to pull it back to check out our work. I have been in business for 30 years and have done thousands of BMW's since 1985 when we took over all of the work for Tischer BMW till 2002 when Mile One bought out Petra Tischer.I have been in business for 30 years and have built it from nothing to ONE OF THE BEST SHOPS in the area because of are attention to detail and our Customer Service. My manager Tiffany Duncan is also Very Respected in the Industry by her customers and the Many Insurance Companies she deals with every day. J.R. Mills-President Elite Autohaus Inc."
