It was a great experience! Charles first got to know the colors/style that we liked. For almost every place that there was a decision, Charles would offer 2 options. There were a few times when we didn't like either and we would explain what we didn't like and he always found another option. It made it so easy to not get bogged down in a million choices and to know that the fixtures/accessories would look good together. Charles was not afraid to say that he didn't recommend something, but still left decisions to us. Charles is easy to work with and has a great manner. For the construction, we got quotes from a contractor Charles has worked with before and with another. We went with Charles' contractor (FNK Construction) and had a good experience with them, as well. The cost below is the fees we paid to Charles. The Construction and fixtures/furniture were additional.

He is on time, flexible and creative. He is fun, open, professional and responsive. We pay him an hourly rate.

We know what we know - and what we don't know. We have no background in interior design and architecture. We were faced with the prospect of re-constructing a small home and were at a loss. We knew we needed help. After reviewing potential candidates on Angie's List and making initial contact with a few - we selected Charles. Once we met Charles, we knew we had made the right decision. He is exceptionally talented, highly intelligent, a warm and joyful human being, and really knows how to listen. He reviewed the building plans, made suggestions for improvements, specified lighting, fixtures, colors, wall placement, living levels, flooring, tiles, kitchen and bathroom layout and design, etc. His recommendations were on target and his collaborative spirit made working with him a real pleasure. We know we will be coming back to Charles again and again - and we look forward to it.

Mr. Almonte had been recommended by the general contractor, and we ended up liking Mr. Almonte more than the contractor. Mr. Almonte was knowledgeable and responsive from start to finish. He was the only person who seemed to care about staying within our budget. He toured the house and sketched some ideas for the floor plan of the master suite we were creating out of our attic. We accepted his design right away and only had minor modifications (e.g., changed sink size). He had a lot of ideas for how to fit everything into a small space (the house is only 950 square feet without renovation).
Mr. Almonte became our main point of contact after the general contractor stopped caring about our project. Mr. Almonte kept us up to date on the status of the permit application and the contractor's whereabouts. Because of the contractor, we were unable to do this renovation, so I can't comment on the finished project, but I highly recommend Mr. Almonte. He is easy to work with and pays attention to details as well as the overall goal.

He's a great guy.  He gave us great advice and we would definitely use his services again.  His speciality is contemporary design.  He is professional and punctual.  His prices are not inexpensive but they are fair.

We liked him so much that we also asked him to advise on other projects that were not included in the scope of his living room design work (e.g., advice for our kitchen tiles, color scheme throughout the house).  We have, and will continue to call on Charles for his keen eye and sense of style.

This Master Bedroom renovation has been a pleasant experience in comparison with the experience I had in renovating the kitchen. (NOTE: another contractor was used).  Mr. Almonte has an uncanny ability in listening to the client (me) and producing ideas into something tangible.  The design of the master bedroom is one that is inclusive of my desires as well as exhibiting a blend of traditional elegance with contemporary styling.  The project is not complete as of yet; but I am so happy with the results thus far.  The room has certainly been transformed into an inviting and magnificent habitat. (NOTE:  Some family members and friends have viewed the work in progress and share my excitement and pleasure.  Currently, we are in the process of having the custom headboard panels made.  The project is expected to be completed within a couple of months due to the master bathroom renovation occurring simultaneously.
In finalizing my remarks, Mr. Almonte's professionalism is near perfection. He works with your interests at heart. He is truly talented and passionate about his profession.

Charles, was amazing. He took a 50 year old kitchen and transformed it into a beautiful modern, colorful space that catering to fit in the house.

He is very responsive and knows what the customer wants.  He is very detailed and I will use him again in the future.

Charles Almonte was the architect/designer whom we hired to redesign our master suite (bedroom, dressing area/closets, bathroom). Charles is very attentive to client needs and responds quickly to all e-mail and telephone messages. He is very generous with his time and did not charge us for our endless e-mails and phone messages (unless we specifically requested a telephone conference). He was 100% reliable, always doing what he promised to do. He made himself available for site visits to examine products and finishes, and was conscientious about pointing out advantages and disadvantages of each product. He suggested practical alternatives in those cases in which we had some concerns about the original suggestion.   It was Charles who introduced us to our general contractor (we also checked Angie’s List, which confirmed that this was the right choice). In retrospect, it was a felicitous association between Charles, the general contractor, and us. Once the project was underway, Charles made site visits to ensure that workers adhered to the construction drawings.   We remain grateful to Charles Almonte for his skillful and thoughtful guidance throughout the course of designing and carrying out our project. We heartily recommend his services to you for your consideration.  

We needed a complete tear-out and rebuild of our master bathroom. Charles did everything from the conceptual drawings and architectural drawings, to helping us select a general contractor, to purchasing some of the materials, to helping us hang a couple of pictures on the wall to finally finish the project. We were impressed by his discussion with us to determine our style. We happily accepted the first set of drawings he presented us. He helped us choose the colors, tiles, and all the fixtures. We had a couple of accent pieces that we wanted to keep and he included them beautifully. Also, he suggested changing the depth of our linen closet, which allowed us to add a nook (for a towel bar, soap, shampoo bottles, etc.) to the shower stall. He gave the general contractors complete architectural drawings for the project. The communication throughout the project was great. He promptly answered phone calls and e-mails, and patiently talked us through any questions or concerns. He visited and kept in touch throughout the work of the general contractor. He visited after the project was finished and made a follow-up phone call a couple of weeks later to make sure all was well. We look forward to working with Charles again in the future.

Over the past two months I have been working with Charles Almonte to spruce up our new home. I was reluctant to hire a designer because I pride myself on being able to do these things myself, but I have three small children (including an infant) and we had just moved to a new home with an odd layout. I didn't want to spend the next few years shopping for furniture and trying to figure out the best arrangement for the house. Another interior designer that I had contacted recommended Charles and once I saw his sketches I was really impressed. In addition he is a really nice guy, very approachable, and has great taste. One of my favorite things about Charles is that he really listened to me and hit the mark with my style. He used some of my existing furniture and incorporated a lot of things I wanted into the final design, but he also talked me out of some things I thought I wanted and talked me into things that I didn't think I wanted. We couldn't be happier with the final results. Our friends and family all comment on how great the house looks and my husband--a skeptic of "all of this" in the beginning--has been walking around with a smile on his face. He even said that he likes our new dining room chandelier almost as much as our new flat screen tv. I also love that our home is very unique looking. It doesn't look like a page out of a catalog. It's a mix of styles, periods, new furniture, and vintage. It feels lived in and works for my hectic life and growing family. Not only is Charles a licensed interior designer, but he is also a licensed architect, so he brings a very well trained eye to any project large or small. He redesigns kitchens and bathrooms from scratch as well as other design services.
