$500
The selling took place in two days (which was not necessary as I didn't have a great deal of things to sell).  I was told that I would be charged $300 as a down payment to do the estate sale.  Instead, I was charged $500, which I ended up paying because I wanted to move forward after losing my partner.  Caring Transitions brought other items into the home that had nothing to do with my estate sell.  I agreed to let them do that.  The estate sale of my personal belongings made approximately $800, which I received $500 back.  My $500 down payment was not considered among my fees.  They charged me 35% fees for the sale (which I thought was too high, 20% is reasonable).  When I first agreed to sell my home, they contacted me to do the estate sale.  I didn't want to do it because of the 35% fee (which was too high).  However, because my home agent was affiliated with Caring Transitions and I was on a timeframe limit, I decided to go with them.  I would suggest if you have family and friends who can help you do a garage sell, I would go that route.  I would only use an agent like Caring Transition if I had no one to assist me (which I didn't).  Otherwise, you can do the estate sale on your own.  Services like this is not a necessity unless you have no one to help you out.
