I called Brothers Sew and Vac before visiting, and they said to bring the machine in on a certain day when the part would be in stock. I showed up on the day, and they had the part in the store. They drilled out the base of the old pins, and installed new ones, and refused to accept payment!
Description of Work: They ordered and replaced broken spool pins.

I called and they were very interested in seeing the old machine. I brought it into their little shop and they gave me an estimate and then chatted about the old machines. A week later they called and the machine was working, cost right on their estimate. My only wish was that I might have re-wired the machine if they had given me the option. I'm a little worried about the old insulation on the old wiring. Maybe I'll take it back for that!
Description of Work: I brought my portable 1940s Singer Machine in to be brought back into working order. They cleaned and oiled it, tightened belts and made it run smoothly again after it had been stored for probably 20 years.

My sewing machine had stopped working, and I needed it fixed in a hurry to help a friend with a time-sensitive project. Brothers Sew n Vac had my machine up and running quickly and professionally! I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: My 20+ year old Bernina sewing machine had stopped working. The bobbin tension wasn't right, and the thread did not feed properly, so nothing could be sewn.

They were very nice and explained for the cost of the repair that I could get a new machine instead. He let me make the decision to just get the repairs.

Came in with a sick dyson vac for service. I didn't love it but wasn't really prepared to purchase another one. However the clear risks and advantages were intelligently explained to me without giving me the hard sell. I asked a ton of questions and actually challenged purchasing a new one. The young man who is a family member was very knowledgeable and did not pressure me to buy anything. He threw in bags and the complete tool set. There were more expensive models but his suggestions for vacs was based on my unique needs. A very good experience.
Description of Work: I took my vac in for service. However, I left with a new simplicity vac. I received excellent advice. All my concerns and questions were answered with great knowledge of the vac I was getting rid of and on the one I was buying. A family owned business local for the last 50+'years.

I took my old Singer machine in for a free estimate (only company I could find in the area to give a free estimate). Without opening up the machine, Bryan was able to give me a educated guess as to the issues and an idea of what the technician would estimate the repair cost to be. Not wanting to put much money into my older machine, I was open to purchasing one of their newer models. In discussing my repair and options with Marty (the father), he told me it would be silly to purchase a new machine as mine was a great model and I'd be wasting money on purchasing a new machine. I so appreciated his honesty. I was blown away with their incredible customer service - this type of service just isn't experienced these days when everyone seems to be looking out for their own bottom dollar. I will continue to travel from Virginia for all my sewing & vacuum needs. I can't say enough of the incredible service I received. A truly great company.
Description of Work: Repaired my 1981 Singer sewing machine.
