Mr. Oakey and his team were very responsive.  I gave vague descriptions of what I wanted and I was provided samples to choose from.  The work performed was very professional and the workers were polite and kept the workplace extremely clean.  The work was completed on time.

Although the price was slightly higher than the other bids, I feel strongly that I got my money's worth.  No other contractor was able to offer a completely roll In shower.

Additionally, I asked for a price quote to swap out the barely used toilet from the remodel for with one in the other bathroom.  He provided a price quote that was too high and I said I would do it myself.  He surprised me by swapping it out at no charge.

I did not feel rushed to pay final bill.  I was given a generous amount of time to make sure that I was happy with the work.

I was very impressed with the work performed and satisfied with the price in the end.  I will be considering this company for a future project.

The project required several weeks from the initial call to describe service required, selection of the oven, schedualing the carpenter to do the modification and then schedualing the electrician to connect new oven. Things never seem to move as quickly as one would like, but over all the modification and installation was done in a professional manner, with Larry Oakey , geneeral contractor, his carpenter, and outside electrician whom he contracted. We would use this company again.

Price includes our selection of fixtures, which obviously varies with choices made by the consumer. We are having Oakey Corporation continue renovations in our master bath and master bedroom, doing major structural adjustments to accommodate the construction of a walk-in closet, which currently doesn't exist.

Overall we were extremely pleased with the work that OakeyCorp performed. Larry took our project after two other vendors never returned our follow up inquiries. He was very responsive to our requests and kept us informed of all delays associated with BGand E and Baltimore City. The workmanship was high quality and we believe OakeyCorp,s final product was a big reason we were able to sell our house in a week. The project took a little longer than anticipated and was a more pricey than what we were expecting, but overall we got what we paid for. Larry is very honest and I would recommend him...just be prepared for cost.

As a result of their work, we have a kitchen that looks like a million dollars. Oakey has done substantial work for us in the past. They gutted our master bedroom, suite, and bath. They replaced the walls too. The substantially changed our family room too. They expanded the square footage and added a new ceiling and roof structure. There work was always on time and of high quality. It was done with a minimal mess. Oakey is seldom the cheapest but always competitive. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend them.

Oakey Corp of Severna Park completed this latest remodel of our all purpose room/gardening/bathroom and kitchen area, and garage remodel. We have had Oakey Corp remodel and upgrade multiple rental properties over the past few years and have been extremely pleased with the quality of the work, timeliness of the projects and professionalism of the Oakey Corp team. In fact, in each instance, Mr. Oakey (owner) did the original visit, measurements and estimates personally. All work was completed in the projected timeframe and exceeded our expectations for our rental property jobs in the past, and this job in our personal home was no exception. Mr. Oakey designed and crafted a small space for maximum utility. The area housed a mud sink and washer/dryer. The room was transformed to showcase ceiling to floor Kitchenmaid cabinetry, exquisite tile flooring, beautiful counter space and a large, deep stainless steel sink area to allow for maximum storage and utility. The former utility room is now a pleasant extra room with exquisite detail! The room now has a lavatory with a pedestal sink and designer tile and fixtures. This room opens into the gourmet kitchen and also into the garage. Previously an eyesore, the room now provides sa segway from the newly remodeled garage, complete with oak cabinetry and epoxy floor. Perfect for our car enthusiast spirit! We welcome the opportunity to write a review for Oakey Corp. We have had numerous experiences with Oakey Corp for home upgrades, to include kitchen, bathroom and concrete repair. We will continue to contact Lawrence Oakey and his talented team for any and all of our future remodeling or construction needs.

Larry with Oakey Corp was onsite to give us the pricing for the kitchen. Our partial deconstruction revealed plumbing problems that we knew would need correction and gutting the kitchen for remodeling would solve these and other issues. Our priority was for work done correctly and not merely cosmetically. He drew up the plans and we agreed. The old cabinet and appliances were removed and work began. Larry appeared onsite off and on throughout the process. Conversations with us were non-substantive. Cabinets were installed, plumbing and gas lines were moved for appliance changes. We didn't realize the work being done was not quality. During the work, the original plumbing leak appeared to have been repaired and then started again. This leak it seems was never repaired in that we discovered it continues when removing wallboard in the adjacent room. We understand now, when Larry says "no problem", it means it is no problem for him to do a cosmetic repair and box it in knowing it would take a long time before the mold comes through the drywall to the tile. Within a week of the completion of the job the kitchen sink started to leak. Larry refused to come out and fix the leak. The plumber who fixed the leak discovered the work had been installed improperly resulting in the intermittent leak. A month after Larry left, the cabinet doors rubbed. This plus scratching of the range, chipping of the Silestone and a rapid dash to the store for insulation he omitted, made for a disappointing kitchen remodel. Larry specifically said that the electrician would talk with us about the electrical features prior to installation, yet this never occurred. The electrician selected and installed products which did not match our decor plan nor environmental considerations and exceeded the pricing allowance. Larry's contract came with a large price which we understood was the cost of quality work. We had a priority for quality. The contract stipulated a 30% charge for costs above the contracted "allowances". When it came time to select items we learned his built in allowances were grossly underestimated. The ONLY area in which we were not billed this 30% charge was for tile. The tile we purchased independently and brought to the job site. The items that his electrician selected were in excess of the electrical allowance. The plumbing exceeded the allowance though we supplied the sink and faucet ourselves. The underpricing of his quotes belies the fact that he's been in the business many years and knows the current pricing plus unexpected features with any construction site.
Response from Oakey Corporation
"Let me first address the leak in the kitchen; during the demolition of the kitchen to include a common wall between the kitchen and first floor bathroom, a water pipe and vent pipe going to the second floor and roof showed evidence of a leak at one of the pipe joints. During the process of changing the plumbing in the bulkhead for the kitchen remodel that piece of pipe was replaced. The wall remained open while the electrical and plumbing work was completed, approximately one week, after inspection by Anne Arundel County the wall was closed. The member did call our office to mention the garbage disposer appeared to be leaking; I explained that this is a common for them to vibrate loose and may weep at the drain and if it persisted to contact the office and we would send a licensed plumber to make any repair necessary. There was no further contact made by the member on the issue. Many times we use allowances in our contract when items are not defined at the time of contract signing. The contract is throughly explained to our clients at the time of signing and there is a detailed explanation of how the allowances work. The allowances are guidelines only, the allowances are adjusted based on materials selected by the homeowner or changes made to the original project. Our electrician typically installs fixtures selected by the homeowner unless it is a standard recessed light that may be specified or a standard outlet or switch per code. Environmental considerations? This project was inspected by Anne Arundel County for the electrical work completed. Oakey Corporation is a local business and relies on word of mouth referrals and repeat clients, it would not benefit us in any manner to under price a job. Oakey Corporation strives to provide a quality project for a fair price, we look forward to working with our clients again in the future."
