As a family owned business which originated in Italy, our core team of highly skilled tile artisans continues the traditions of Bernardo Vallefuoco, who learned the tile trade in his native Italian homeland. Our team is versed in the classic methods of European craftsmanship and in the most current TCNA methods. Our level of workmanship and commitment to the tile industry is why we are a rare NTCA 5 STAR ACCREDITED tile contractor, and are CTI certified by CTEF with expertise in all types of tile, including natural stone, glass, porcelain, cement, ceramic, and custom mosaic tile. We are highly committed to supporting and improving our industry. We are humbled and grateful to have won the NTCA 5 Star Contractor Residential Project Of The Year Award for 2022 at Coverings. Our client base extends to many of the Washington, DC area’s most discerning custom builders, designers, architects and homeowners. Vallefuoco Contractors did an excellent job installing tile on my fireplace and powder room. I would definitely re-hire them. They are not cheap - but definitely worth every penny. For my fireplace, I purchased custom metallic glass mosaic tile. Of course, as luck would have it, the person who sold me the tile underestimated the amount I would need, so we had to stop the job, and I had to order more. In the powder room, I initially wanted them to replace some antique glass tile that my original contractor did a horrible job at installing. Instead of replacing the powder room tile, Bernardo (the site manager) suggested that I install pencil tile to frame the antique tile. The powder room looks SOOOOO much better. Both Bernardo and Jose (the installer) were extremely professional and responsive.

They were on time and friendly. Made sure to protect my house from damage and finished in one day. Wonderful! When we found a small issue they were very responsive and corrected the problem promptly!

They are responsive and professional and a joy to work with. We had to deal with unforeseen problems when the floor was demolished and they responded in a professional and efficient manner. The job got done quickly despite the delay. The tile we used was handmade and a bit quirky. The tile job is beautiful and does justice to the tile itself (which is not always the case as I have learned using other tilers). I would highly recommend for any tile installation needs.

I had previously had a great experience with Vallefuoco at my previous house where they installed a new kitchen floor. At my new house, I wanted to get a kitchen backsplash installed, so naturally I called up Vallefuoco again. They did not disappoint. Bernardo, the owner, came by for an estimate within a couple of days of my initial call. He took measurements and told me how much tile I needed to purchase, and left us with a very reasonable estimate. I sent in a deposit to secure our place on their schedule, and they had me booked for installation within 3 weeks. They actually called me up twice before their promised start date and said they could start earlier because their other jobs had finished early. I was out of town, so I couldn't pull in the schedule from my end. The planned start date came and we ended up having to move it forward a couple of days, but they did arrive more or less as promised. The job took 2 days and turned out beautifully. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the installation. I will definitely use Vallefuoco again, and would recommend their work wholeheartedly.
The only area for improvement I would call out is that sometimes it took a day or two to hear back from the office manager when I sent emails. My interactions were very cordial and professional, but a little more responsiveness would make the experience even smoother.

We called Vallefuoco to fix our shower in early December on short notice before our families arrived for the holidays. They said that they would make sure that they got it done and they did. They were quick, professional, and did a great job!

Everything went great! The estimate was accurate. The scheduling was timely and the installers showed up on time. The installers were very neat and tidy. Even though total installation area was only about 150 sq ft , it was a hard job since 2 layers of vinyl tile had to be removed.

Their work was excellent. The first job I had them take care of was a shower stall that needed tiled. They were very honest and got the work done in much less time than I thought it would take. The second job that I hired them for was for a more extensive tile job. In my other bathroom, the toilet had leaked, so all the tile on the floor and all needed ripped out and redone.

They installed a delicate glass tile backsplash in my kitchen. They told me how much tile to order (though I had quite a bit left over) and what other materials to provide. Gianna, in the office, worked with me after I delayed the project quite a few times. I wasn't there when the work was done, but it was done perfectly.

Without our knowing it, the ceramic tile floor in our kitchen had been installed improperly when we bought our house about 10 years ago. We had the tiles reset on three occasions, but the grout continued to disintegrate. We contacted several contractors about the problem. The analyses we received varied substantially -- one contractor saying that the entire sub flooring would have to be removed and replaced. We contacted Vallefuoco on the recommendation of Architectural Ceramics. They removed and replaced the tiles in less than three days at a price that was less than half of some of the bids we received. Both the office and the installers were thoroughly professional and a pleasure to work with. And they did a beautiful job. We recommend them without reservation.

I hired Vallefuoco to install glass subway tile on a large backsplash. Their estimate wasn't the cheapest, nor the most expensive - and I found it very reasonable, given the positive reviews. I had many questions about the installation, service, and the kind of tile I was having installed, and they were both very responsive and patient with my inquiries. Mario (the installer) arrived on time (allowing me to get to work as needed), and completed the job in 1 day - and it looks amazing. Would definitely hire them again!

We wanted to replace some old laminate flooring in our kitchen and bathrooms with new ceramic tiles. We heard about Vallefuoco through a reliable neighborhood mailing list, and after getting a few quotes from other contractors, decided to go with Vallefuoco. Hollie, the office manager, was very responsive and returned our phone calls and emails very quickly. She scheduled the initial estimate/consultation visit with Bernardo, the owner of the company. The first time he was scheduled to arrive, there was a snowstorm developing, so we had to reschedule. The second time, he arrived and met with my wife while I was at work, so I didn't get a chance to meet him. The start of the work was scheduled for 3 weeks later, which was fine with us, because our special-order tile wouldn't even have arrived for 2 weeks anyway. The tiles we wanted to install in the kitchen were not uniform in size, and we wanted a non-standard pattern, so I was a little worried that it wan't going to come out quite right. However, the installers did a fantastic job, especially given that the subfloor on our 100-year-old house was not in the best shape. The work took 4 days, and the end result was terrific. The installers even threw in a free hardwood transition piece when our old one couldn't be salvaged. I wanted to wait a few months before reporting on the experience to make sure the installation was sound. I was particularly worried about tiles and/or grout cracking in the kitchen, because the subfloor in that room was in particularly poor condition. But the cement boards they installed seemed to have done the job of providing substantial reinforcement. My overall experience with Vallefuoco Tile Contractors was overwhelmingly positive. It's clear that this is a family-owned business where the owners are genuinely passionate about their line of work. Of course, no home improvement project is ever 100% perfect. In our case, the only minor nitpick I had was that the installers had reinstalled the dishwasher toekick plate upside down when they couldn't get it to fit properly (due to the increased height of the new kitchen floor). In doing so, they had to punch new screw holes into the cover plate, which caused the paint to chip and left some jagged edges. Furthermore, the way they reinstalled the coverplate prevented the door of the dishwasher from opening. I ultimately had to take the cover off and take it to a metal machine shop to have 1/2" shaved off the bottom to make it fit. I would rather they had left it off and told me about it rather than try to jam it back in by rough punching holes through the plate. It now requires a coat of paint to hide the chipped paint and jagged edges of the holes punched in the metal.

Vallefuoco contractors were the second contractor we contacted to give us an estimate on the work. Their bid came in about $200 less the previous contractor. The back splash involved adding some small accent tiles in the field tiles. We were unsure how many we should use and where they should be placed. Gianna, the owner's wife spoke to us on the phone and after we sent pictures of the accent tiles and the area being covered she was very helpful, including a simple drawing of what she recommended. The only glitch was the measurements taken by the owner were a bit off so we did not have enough tile ordered. After the additional tiles were received they were quick to reschedule another one of their installers to complete the work. Overall they did a fine job.

I found this company as a referral by another company where I bought the back splash tile. They promptly came out for an estimate which I also received quickly. The tile was installed with no problem in a subway pattern. It looks fabulous. So fabulous that I don't want to put anything on the countertop! I'm very pleased. Two workman completed the task. They came back on another day to seal the tile. Now I don't have to worry about grease spots on the painted back splash. It's easy to clean. They also installed matching switch plates that were painted by another company. I highly recommend this company to you.
