This was an awful experience and we would not like this to happen to anyone! It is one of the worst nightmares, in the context of moving one can experience. And for that reason, we are writing this review. Moving is hard for everybody but when it comes to paying for services you order and have options of choosing between bad and good movers, my bet is that you will choose more professional movers than we did. A lesson learned!

I have moved over the years approximately 10 times and never, ever have I had an experience to compare with Twins Moving and Storage. After a day of horror, there is no doubt in my mind that they are thieves and make their living cheating the unsuspecting public. Starting from when they picked up my household furnishings back in November, showing up 3 hours late and at midnight still packing, threatened that they couldn't finish and would be back in the morning....and charging me for another day. I refused and they continued packing till they were through. My furniture placed  in storage, till the day until 8 months later when the door of the truck opened and a box marked Fragile came tumbling out and shattered all of my long stem glassware. No apology, nothing. As I stood and watched as the boxes were unloaded, other Fragile marked boxes were concave and half opened.  And the day went from bad to worse. Two antique tables with legs snapped off in the middle of the leg, gouges in sideboards, mold stain on top of dining room table. A small antique slipper chair destroyed.
I was "threatened" that they could make restitution of $100.00 dollars immediately, or deal with their lawyers for the next 6-year, Wait it gets better. The manager/owner, not sure who he was but the only one that spoke English, only comment was...its just a few glasses, and  glue will fix those table legs. The other destruction all but ignored. I was told by him that until I decided what I was going to 'accept' all work would desist. And 1 hour into the unloading moving came to a halt. It was extortion at its finest. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. From the moment he walked in the door on delivery day and told me, "Oh, I didn't realize you were in a 3 story townhouse. I will have to charge you for that, to "And don't forget to tip the boys well" I, emotionally, had a gun to my back.  I intend to get in touch with the Better Business Bureau about these thieves in the hopes that others do not have to go through this nightmare of an experience of moving.

I had a terrible experience with them.  They’re complete crooks. They showed up 2 hours late. They over-charged me for all the extra work they did. I had a lot of issues with their services.

This is a horrible company.  When they first estimated the move, it was 80 dollars per hour and 3 hours job.  When they came to move everything out back in November, they charged me 7 hours labor when they were only there for about 3 hours.  their reason was they were from Rockville and I lived in Columbia, with traffic, it took them approximately 4 hours commuting.  Then another $300 for packing material, then an additional $80 for fuel and mileage. They also charged me a month of storage rent upfront. So, 7 x $80 + $300 + $80 + $250 = $1110.  But that is not it.  I had my belongings in their storage for 6 months.  On the original contract, it said the last month would be complimentary and the monthly charge was $250.  Because I was overseas and it was difficult to communicate with the company, I gave them authority to to charge my credit card monthly, trusting they would do what is honorable.  However, I came home to find not only did I not receive the last month of storage for free, but I in fact paid for 7 months instead of 6.  So, what was supposed to be $250 x 5 became $250 x 7.  To top everything off, the company had the audacity to quote me $900 for simply moving all my things back for me.  When the movers came, I spoke with "the driver", who really is Isaac the man that originally quoted me all the prices.  i asked him how can he possibly charge me $900 for simply moving things back?  He answered that because the original move was $1100, therefore the "estimate" was $900 for this round of things.  I had to take out the original receipt (which he probably thought I no longer have) and pointed to him all the break downs.  He then said I'll just charge you $560.  I didn't feel like arguing about the 7 hours any more, so I just paid.  (The movers were at my apartment by 0835 and left by 0930).  After they left, I realized they didn't bring back my paper shredder and broke three of my Japanese porcelain teacups.  I don't care about the missing paper shredder, but the broken teacups really upset me.  I love the set and now it is incomplete.  Hope I can find a decent porcelain repair/restoration shop. All in all,  DON'T EVER USE TWIN VAN LINES!!!  IT IS THE WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER.

The workers were on time, they worked hard, BUT:  Although we had everything packed they charged us for tape, boxes, cellophane and the use of the moving blankets.  Once they had all of our stuff loaded on the truck they informed us that the actual costs were more than double what I had a quote for.  As the workers barely spoke any English, it was very hard to try and argue the point with them.  At this point we were stuck and had no choice but to pay.  Once at our destination, the workers were again efficient. We have taken our complaint to both corporate and the better business bureau with no resolution and it has now been 2 years.

A tale of two companies, but worth using again. The sales rep was pleasant and sent a contract to read and sign. The price was reasonable and much better than having your friends help. I had packed and boxed everything for Move One. I only had a few pieces of furniture. The three person crew was in and out in about an hour. The same great service was in the unloading. They were so great, when I needed them to pick up furniture from a friends house, I immediately thought of these people. Move Two was longer and with more furniture, but less boxes. I asked for the same crew and I got a different crew. Like every experience with a business, the employees make the impression. Same great service, but I had an issue with the bill. Pleasantly, I was able to resolve the matter with the sales rep during the next week. Tip - Read your contract and know that boxes and wrapping material cost extra. Move One was to the penny that I expected including boxes, wrapping, etc. They got a very nice tip. Move Two had an employee that tried to tap dance the cost. Not a nice tip. My issue was resolved later with the sales rep. I would use them again.

The move went fairly well and the team was courteous and respectful. My problem wasnt with the team of movers, but with the estimate and final cost. They nickel and dime you with hidden costs and we werent told up front about certain costs. They also sent a 4 person team instead a 3 person team which is more expensive and it took them just as long as the initial time estimate I was provided. I was told it would take 3 guys 7-8 hours and instead it took 4 guys 7-8 hours. Also they charge a 1 hour "drive" fee even though they were less than 20 minutes from both locations from where I moved from and to, plus they rounded up in their favor regarding time. Ive never been able to charge my clients for my travel time to and from home to their office. They also charge $5 per roll of tape and they tape everything and over tape. If you use them by your own box of packaging tape and save yourself $50.
