My family and I have used The Carpet Man for years. I just had the 2nd floor carpet replaced and once again Mr. Rasheed was very fair and honest. The installation crew did an outstanding job. I highly recommend The Carpet Man for all of your flooring needs.

We had carpet that was noticeably wrinkled and bunched up in several rooms.  The carpet was installed about 8 or 9 years ago.  There was also a small area that our dog had torn up.  Called The Carpet Man in Rockville and got an estimate the next day by one of the principals of the company, Imad Rasheed.  Very friendly and straightforward fellow.  I thought the estimate was reasonable and agreed to the work.  It was scheduled a couple of days later.  The two technicians were pleasant and professional.  One of them spoke English well enough that communication was no problem.  They did very good work, did it expeditiously, and cleaned up after.  No problems at all.  Very well satisfied.

I most recently used Carpet Man for installation of carpet in my basement. When I went into the store, I told the owner that i was replacing carpet that he installed 17 years ago in that same room. He gave me several options for carpet and padding grade, fully understanding how we use the room. The installers were on the late side of the 10 AM appt but it only took them 3 hours to install the carpet so that made up for the late arrival. The installation was professionally done with all remnants of the existing carpet and padding disposed of.
I have used Carpet Man for hardwood flooring and stairs as well as for carpet in many other rooms in my home. I have been impressed by the selection of carpet and hardwood flooring but moreso by the professionalism of the owner. He listened to my needs and made recommendations based those, rather than trying to sell me a higher priced carpet. For that reason I will always go back to Carpet Man when I need carpet or flooring and have no hesitation about referring them to my friends.

The Carpet Man was extremely helpful and accommodaing throughout our hardwood and carpet purchase and installation process. We had decided to replace the laminate flooring with hardwood floors, but after talking with him we realized we were not going to be able to use standard hardwood flooring. Because of the way the floor joists ran we would need to supplement the subfloor, which along with the thickness of the hardwood flooring would make the finished floor too high for the existing baseboards, front door, closet doors etc... He told us about engineered flooring, which is still a hardwood material, and worked perfect for us. When picking out the carpet, he was very patient and provided great input while we tried to find the perfect combination of quality and cost. We had to delay the installation of the carpet past our inital estimate and he was very accomodating. The only minor compaints I have are with regards to the installation process. After the hardwood installation I noticed a low spot in the corner of a half bath. I called and he sent the installer back out the next day to discuss it with me. We decided that it wasn't worth tearing up the floor, and we weren't sure what could be done to fix it anyway, but the installer agreed that he should have contacted me before they put in the flooring because if there was something that could have been done, that would have been the time. As for the carpet installation, they were a little rough on our newly painted baseboards and walls. They explained that the tools used to stretch the carpet make it hard not to ding or scuff the occasional wall here and there. After they were done I spent about half a day doing some minor patching and painting of baseboards and walls. Once the installations were complete and we were ready to put the townhouse on the market we needed a couple of small and quot;dingsand quot; fixed in the hardwood and an carpet transition bar installed where we replaced a closet door. Both were easy to schedule and the and quot;dingsand quot; were covered up free of charge, and although he offered to give me the carpet bar to install myself I chose to have one of his installers come do it for a very reasonable price. When all was said and done the hardwood floors and carpet looked wonderful, and we sold the townhouse in two days.

Mr. Rasheed is a great guy. There was a problem with the manufacturer while installing the carpeting on the stairs and the landings. We were patient. Then they came in and installed it again. They had a great price. They had a lot of things to choose from. We are not real great at making quick decisions. So, they were with us. When we decided what we wanted to do, they were ready to go ahead and do it. Their installers did a good job. I can't say anything bad about them. They showed up on time and it was even better. The price was more than $5000 since we had a lot of work done. We did shop a lot. There were three fairly close competitors, but we chose The Carpet Man. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Work was done poorly. There were gaps in the carpet at the last step where you could put your hand in and pull it off. Edges of the carpet were not bound as requested so you could just pull off pieces of the carpet. Work was not done as agreed and paid. After numerous unreturned calls, visits to the store and finally negative comments posted on a website concerning their professionalism, someone came to see what had been done. They attempted to explain to me that it would be acceptable to them in their home.

It was again explained to them that we asked for a bound carpet fully attached to stairs with no gaps. They advised that they couldn't do that now since the carpet had been cut to size. It was explained to them that they needed to resolve the issue to our satisfaction or further action would be taken. After many weeks, they resolved the issue to an acceptable level but not per our request/payment. I would not use this company again since we kept getting the run around and the installers did not speak english. While I was not home when they installed the carpet, the company knew fully knew what was expected. We were advised that the bounding would be done on site. It never occured.

This dealing with the company was a surprize since past experience had been satisfactory. Will not use them again and would never recommend them.
Response from The Carpet Man
"The contract states that the job was for Wall to Wall carpet on the steps. Wall to wall carpet installation does not consist of nor does it need any binding. We installed the carpet in a waterfall style which is what is most commonly done. After receiving a complaint we went to the home and met with Member's daughter who told me she did not have a problem with the job at all but her mother was not happy. A later phone conversation with Member revealed that she wanted the step installed using the tailor method instead of the waterfall method. She had not stated this prior to this phone conversation. We arranged for the installers to go back out one morning to fix the issue. Unfortunetly, the installers were running late that day because of bad weather and Member's daughter could not wait for them as she had to leave for class. We set up another date for installation and took care of Member's complaint. I do not understand the low rating as we did the job as it was written up in the contract and then sent the installers back out and took care of the issues in a timely manner."

We have been using the Carpet Man (Rasheed Bassam) for many years, for capeting as well as hardwood and tile floors. Mr. Rasheed is an expert on carpets and flooring and can tell you the pros and cons of using different materials, as well as grades of materials. In the rare occasions where a problem comes up with an installation or batch of materials, Mr. Rasheed will make it good in a very prompt manner. Would definately recommend his services.

Imad is very professional and responsive. He and his installation crew were always prompt, which was key since I do not live at the property and had to meet them there. When he came by to give me an estimate, he described my options for repairing or replacing the damaged carpet, keeping in mind that it's a rental property. The work was very well done and did not exceed the estimated cost.

I was generally pleased with the professional manner and overall job that The Carpet Man did. There were a couple minor problems with the stairs where they were not fitted properly and in one of the houses they were short some carpet and had to come back to complete the job. They also did a little damage to some walls that will need to be repainted. However, they did respond to my concerns and were able to work with me to make the corrections. Each job took about one day at a cost of $3500 each.

The salesman was knowledgeable and did not try to oversell for our needs. Installers arrived promptly. They worked efficiently to remove old carpeting, lay padding, and install new carpeting. They were clean, courteous, and did an excellent job.
