Cleaned dryer vent that had not been done properly by others in the past. Excellent service. Regular price would be less than $300, but our service included some extras

I'd like to give higher marks for what was a tough assignment, but I was disappointed by the interactions I had with Jeremy and his co-worker.
Several years ago, I had hired Jeremy to install a dryer vent in my bath, and he did a great job, so I didn't hesitate to contact him again.
But when he arrived for this job, he had an angry and unhelpful demeanor that made our interactions tough. I asked him if he would mind taking his shoes off and he said "Yes!" very loudly and stormed off to find some booties. While it's clearly not the first time he's been asked to wear them, he and his colleague seemed very put out about the inconvenience. I have off-white carpeting and ask visitors to take their shoes off to avoid dirt, leaves and other debris getting tracked indoors. No other contractor has ever complained about this request.
When I first called Jeremy about the job, I asked him if he recommended any types of fans. He said it was my choice and gave me no guidance on how to select a model, size, and brand. But when he arrived and took the old fan out, he lectured me at length about how the fan I chose was the wrong type and was too large for the space. I would have appreciated getting this advice before he arrived.
When Jeremy and his colleague arrived the second time, his colleague argued with me about wearing the booties, saying it was such a pain since he had to go in and out to get supplies. He said in a very sullen tone that he guessed he would look and see if he had any booties, and left the house in a glum mood. When they got started, I could hear them complaining loudly and making fun me of me behind my back, mockingly imitating my voice when I asked them if there was anything they needed to do the job (I had provided an extra ladder, some drop cloths, etc). I'm not sure if they realized I could hear everything they were saying. I didn't appreciate their hostility and rudeness, and it seemed very unprofessional to me.
Shortly after the loud complaining, I heard Jeremy shouting at his colleague that he'd drilled the hole in the wrong place. I wondered if they had this miscommunication because they were spending so much time complaining instead of focusing on the job. They managed to create an elbow in the vent, and I hope it will function properly despite the misalignment.
Jeremy charged me $175 and hour, which seems a lot higher than others who posted reviews were charged.
On balance, I will say that they arrived on time at both appointments, brought all the equipment they needed, and generally did a good job installing the vent in a cramped setting -- the vent had to be installed in the mere 7" inches below an AC duct, and Jeremy's colleague had to climb out a window to get in the atrium to which the bath vents. Jeremy's colleague also did a very thorough job cleaning the chimney on the first visit -- not an easy task.
I hesitated about writing a critical review, but thought I'd post this for women readers. If you hire Swift Vents, you might have the man of the house oversee the job. It's just a hunch, but I suspect they might treat a man with more respect.

Jeremy did a very thorough job and his price was fair. He is very knowledgeable and gave me good advice about how to monitor my drying practices to ensure that I know when to call for service next time (in advance of a clog, instead of AFTER). Plus he was able to come on very short notice -- I told him my situation and he was a able to fit me the next day. I highly recommend Swift Vents.

In 2011, they came for the first time after another company had unsuccessfully cleaned the dryer vent. Swift Vent went up in the attic and did work (I don't remember the details) there as well as cleaning out the ductwork leading up to the dryer. That kept the dryer going strong for several years and cost only $150. When the dryer started taking a longer time to dry my towels, that was the clue to have them back (I liked this tip!). They returned in 2014 and cleaned the vent leading to the dryer. It is still working fine over a year later. The $125 for just cleaning the dryer vent didn't seem cheap, but it worked.
I am pleased that they were able to get it so I am not wasting electricity running the dryer forever to get my clothes dry (not to mention, avoiding a fire hazard). I also appreciated that they gave me a tip to know when to call them again - see how long it takes to dry a load of towels right after they come. When it starts taking longer, it's time to call them again.

They come on time and seem to know the details on how to do the job well. I also like that they're local, right where the rental property is.
