Shoe Repair
The end result was very good. Exceeded my expectations.
The new zipper and its installation looks better than new.
Their counter service (intake) went very quickly with good communication.
They use e-mail or phone to notify their customers when the work is ready for pickup.
No trouble parking by the door at their shop.
The seamstress who latter replaced the lining of this jacket remarked favorably on the zipper installation. She asked who did the work so that she could provide referrals for customers interested in this type work that she cannot do.

They are really good for shoes. They're great to repair shoes. When you go in, they explain to you what they're going to do and exactly how much it is. There are no surprises. They take your email and email you when it's ready. They're just professional. They do a good job.

The luggage repair was satisfactory. The wheel replacement was well done and the replaced wheels were better quality than the original ones.

Shoe Repair
I contacted the Shoe Hospital first by phone to find out if they could repair the shoes and they recommended I come in. I did and they were very helpful in assessing the problems with the shoes and the best way to repair them. It turned out that the soles had been glued but not nailed to the body of the shoe (shoddy workmanship on the part of the manufacturer). I was told it would cost $15 and paid a deposit of $5 (they were flexible about timing of payment and about the amount of the deposit). I was told the shoes would be ready in three days.
I returned four days later and the shoes were indeed ready (they were actually ready the previous day but I was unable to pick them up that day). It turned out that more extensive repairs had to be done to properly repair the shoes. The front part of the shoe had also been glued to the body of the shoe (and not stitched) and the folks at the Shoe Hospital went ahead and stitched this part of the shoe to the shoe body. Despite the extra work that they had to put into this project, which would really cost more than the $15 estimate I had been given, they were upfront and told me that since they had told me the repairs would cost $15, this is what they were going to stick to and they were not going to charge me more than this. This was without any objections being raised by me: they volunteered to do this. So, I paid the $10 balance and was done. This is a great example of very honest work and they obviously take great pride in their work. They did the extra work to do a proper repair but did not charge me for it because they had not realized initially the extra work would be needed. Of course, I was very happy with the result: with both the high quality of their workmanship, going the extra mile, and with their integrity. Now the shoes should last many years and are in better condition than when I first bought them!
I would highly recommend ROCKVILLE SHOE HOSPITAL and LUGGAGE REPAIR to anyone who needs to have repair work done to their shoes. I did not have any luggage repaired but would venture to guess they do a great job in this area too. My entire experience and level of satisfaction with this repair and with this business could not be higher.

Overall it went fine. The price was reasonable; the repairs were done on time and the briefcase is in good shape.

Luggage Repair
Rockville Shoe Hospital repaired the purse within a matter of days. Not only did they restitch the handles to the bag but also added additional leather bands to the handles that they stitched on. All the stitching looked strong. I was very satisfied with the work. They aren't super cheap but my experience with this handbag and other handbag repair they did for me several years ago was very positive.

Luggage Repair
They did a great job. I had a very expensive piece hard shell luggage that I had bought overseas. The customs broke the lock when they went through my bag. Rockville managed to repair the lock. It took a week longer than they said it would take. The quality of work was very good.

Shoe Repair
I am newly converted believer in repairing my shoes instead of replacing them. My favorite pair of shoes is no longer being sold in stores and the heels were worn down. I found these guys via a Google search. I dropped the shoes off and they promised a 3 day turn around. I showed up on day 3 and collected my shoes which look like new! I'm feeling quite foolish that I never considered having my shoes repaired in the past. The best part $15 for a pair of shoes that would have been $100 to replace!

Luggage Repair
I was told the single zipper repair would take two weeks and to return two Saturdays later. I returned two Saturdays later as directed only to be told that the bag had been left at the owner's home and I had to come back the next Saturday. Remember, I was driving each time from Bethesda to Rockville only for this purpose! So, I returned the NEXT Saturday and was told AGAIN that the bag wasn't at the shop. However, this time I was told that the owner would drop the bag at my home in the next few days and later that week the owner came by and dropped off the bag with an apology for the delays. However, the whole process took over four weeks and three trips to Rockville. The zipper repair was adequate. A new wooden slat was poorly fixed into the bottom of that bag compartment for reinforcement and now catches clothing when packing.
