The plumber stated that it was not in his job description to re-glue the sink. I stated that I told his company what I wanted and that the sink bracing and re-glue was the top priority and the faucet leak was just an added and quot;while you are here joband quot;.
The plumber attempted to take the faucet apart but just could not get it done. He seemed like he really was not into his job and he decided not to fool with the faucet any more and tried to put it back together so it would at least work while I went out purchased a new faucet to replace the one he just broke/could not put back together. He billed me $240.00 and DID NOT fix anything. In fact he ruined my current, slightly leaking faucet forcing me to buy a brand new one at a plumbing store for $290.00.
Noting that I would get a free recall and not be charged for just the visit I called R.V.Carey's and told the service manager my problem with the tech he sent, told him I had purchased a new faucet, and asked if he could send a DIFFERENT plumber to do the sink bracing and new faucet install.
A new plumber was sent and the job was done satisfactorily. The cost for the revisit was $350.00 which included glueing two small blocks of wood under the sink to hold it up and installing my new faucet. I gritted my teeth and wrote another check.
My cost totaled: $240.00 for nothing and breaking my existing faucet was an added benefit.........not funny.
$290.00 I spent on purchasing a new similar faucet and
$350.00 charge for the second plumber for a total of $880.00
Being 80 years old, experienced in working in the construction trades, this job should have been $200.00 to $300.00 at the most and I would have done it myself when I was younger. I will not use this plumbing company again.
The tech came out looked at the leak told me what needed to be done, gave me an estimated cost per hour and parts , performed work and cleaned up everything like he wasn't even there...he even wore those boot covers...very courtious fellow
