RD Nanz Contracting is a family owned and operated business run by Bob and his son Ian, and I would recommend these guys over anyone. We began our journey by fielding estimates from various contractors around the area. Prices ranged by the hundred thousands. We actually committed to another architect before we were referred to Bob and Ian to clean up the mess the previous guy had made. Once work began, the crew operated with the up most of professionalism. They treated the project as though they were working on their own house, no minor detail was left undone. Bob worked with us on each step of the way, offering tips to save money in some places, that allowed us to spend more in others. We can not be happier with the way everything turned out. It is my Mother-in-laws dream home. Skip ahead to earlier this year, we had an unfortunate accident with a unattended candle tipping over on her deck, causing the siding to catch on fire. Both Bob and Ian were over the next morning to make sure everyone was OK, and to make sure the house was sound both structurally and electrically. It was not an easy task, but Bob and Ian were able to restore and erase any trace of the damage that was caused. We will be using Bob and Ian's services for any future work we need to have on our home. With an industry that fraught with home improvement and contractor horror stories, R. D. Nanz Contracting Inc will give you the peace of mind that your in good hands. I

It went great. We live in a North Potomac home which is now 45 years old. Needless to say it has needed a lot of updating over the years. We have used R.D. Nanz (Bob and his son Ian and their crew) since 1998 on more projects than I can remember. (Please see our detailed prior review of their company in this list: it's the one dated 5/6/2013; the high quality of their work and behavior has not changed). On this latest project they were especially helpful because, as it turned out, we made major changes by taking the walls down to the studs and raising the ceiling from the original seven feet to the standard eight feet -- which makes it look and feel larger. They also updated all the electrical and plumbing, installed a new tub with shower surround, tile floor, and helped make decorating decisions. An all purpose team! When we need advice, great service, and quality work at a reasonable cost we always call Bob.

Here's why my wife likes Bob. He's personable, has a good sense of humor, but most importantly, by being creative, practical and economical, he has made several of her dreams come true. For example, last October Ian and his crew did a remodel of our master bathroom. He suggested that we upgrade to a Toto toilet and sink, just great choices. Way back in 1999, when we were signing our first contract with him to do siding and windows, my wife brought up the subject of creating a screened porch off our living room. Bob surprised me by proposing a price that I couldn't afford to pass up. It has turned out to be the best purchase that we have ever made. Over the years, our porch has given us, two devoted porch sitters, countless hours of fresh air and comfortable pleasure: it's our living room from late spring thru fall.
And finally, at the end of the roofing project we added recessed lighting for our kitchen and a cedar ceiling on our aforementioned porch. Whenever we have a project in mind, Bob is the first person we call.

It went really well, he did it quickly, everything was cleaned up and put back afterwards. It looked great. He is also a very nice guy and inspires confidence.

We had postponed remodeling our sunroom because we had been unable to find a contractor that could evaluate the work effort and write a contract that actually described the work that had to be performed. Mr. Nanz wrote a contract that was specific, detailed, and accurate. The work he did was very high quality, and we are very pleased with the results. One of the things that we liked about working with Mr. Nanz was that he listened to what we wanted, and offered helpful suggestions to improve the outcome. He identified some structural issues and gave us recommendtions. It was clear to us that he wanted the work to turn out as well as we did.
We were espeically happy with the daily clean-up on the job site. We usually worry about our dogs getting hurt on nails and other debris that contractors often leave behind, but Mr. Nanz was careful to leave the site with everything picked up and put away every day.

The work went well. We are very happy with it.

Overall he was dependable, reliable, showed up on time, keep stickily to his schedule. His contact was very neat and well organized and easy for me to follow. When they left and cleaned up so well I did not find one nail floating around at all.
