David and Bryan are very knowledgeable about how convectors work. And explained what my issues with my unit were.

I was quoted $85 for dryer vent cleaning for up to 10'. When the guy came he told me that I needed 30+ feet for the dryer only and that would be $540. As I refused, the price kept going down to even $180 for the the dryer and the entire house. By then, I knew I could not trust this person but I agreed to have him clear the dryer vent on the outside for the original price. He must have been there for 5 minutes max and he left and when I went to check I found that he had ripped the protective vent cover and trashed the vent outlet. I am disgusted with this company and I am sure when inspected I will find that he did next to nothing. They may claim that the vent was like that but I had looked at it 2 days before and it was not broken.

"This was not our company. You are looking for Quality Air Services in Silver Spring. We do not perform dryer vent cleanings."

Terrible. It took me two-plus years to resolve the problems with the inadequacy of Quality Air Services' work (including their subcontractor). (August 11, 2014 to March 3, 2017) For the first year after installation I could not heat the living room/dinning room area. In the end, I SETTLED for duct tape and added insulation, rather than go to the County Consumer Affairs Office and paying again to have my FCUs correctly installed. QAS subcontracted a painting company to do the framing in addition to the drywall work. Instead of using sheet metal to craft the required extension sleeves, they vertically stacked metal studs with holes in them. When the gap between the unit and the wall was wider than the number of studs used, a gap occurred, sometimes several inches wide. Fortunately my gaps were less egregious than those of other owners. The ultimate solution was to duct taped every possible opening around my units--hardly a professional job. Most of the other owners in the building are unaware that this could and should be done. In addition, QAS mounted the thermostat in such a way that heated air from the unit blew directly onto the back of the thermostat -- contrary to the manufacturer's instruction to avoid installing the thermostat near heat generating appliances. The unit in the living room/dinning rooms only cycled on for 20 to 60 seconds, hardly enough time to heat the living room on cold days even though I set the temperature at the maximum setting (88 degrees). The HVAC company (highest rating on Angie's List) I consulted measured the wall temperature at the thermostat at 100 degrees when the room temperature was in the mid-60s. QAS plugged the hole in the FCU where the thermostat wires enter the unit by placed insulation in and around the gap between the thermostat and the unit. This meant the thermostat could function as it should, albeit with my still setting the thermostat temperature in the low 80s in the winter to achieve a room temperature of 72 degrees. A remote thermostat was not an option given the model of FCU installed. QAS clearly does not understand the science of air flow and heating and cooling, and was unequipped to handle complicated installations of stackable fan coin units in a condominium. It took them a year-plus to identify the problem with the thermostat in the living room/dining room. Before that, QAS just replaced the thermostat four or five times. I uncovered the source of the problem around the same time by consulting an online engineering advice group. The other HVAC company I eventually engaged identified the thermostat problems before even opening up the thermostat. I don't know any of the 81 Owners who contracted with QAS that were pleased with there experience. Most just settled for the inferior work and the erratically functioning fan coil units. I hung in for two-plus years and settled for patching the poor installation problems, enduring continuous correspondence along the way. I do want to compliment Oleg Shvyrev who was tasked with working on my fan coin units. He is very professional and skilled in the work he was trained on. He was always very pleasant to work with, unlike many of individuals at Quality Air Services.

THE WORST. Hire anyone else. I've hired Quality Air a few times, because I had to. I live in a large high rise and Quality Air knows our building and systems best. I first hired them a few years ago to replace two convector units. The units functioned well until the usually hot summer of 2016 hit and one unit developed a condensation problem so I quickly called Quality Air for help. I had to wait 2.5 weeks for them to come out to provide a price, then waited another 2 weeks for them to fix the issue which happened to be items they shoulda-woulda-coulda addressed when these units were initially installed years prior (things like adding insulation, properly sealing drip pans, etc). Hire anyone else, they are terrible to work with. I was most disappointment by their lack of urgency. Our building has over 300 Units so given the large amount of business directed to Quality Air from this building I expected to receive service within a week or two. Waiting over a month for a service request I found to be completely unreasonable.

It went fine.  It took multiple visits, since some of the units needed to be adjusted after initial installation.  The installers were professional, on time, and conscientious.  The office (Vicki and Olga) was very helpful re scheduling, billing, answering questions, etc.

The crew was punctual and worked consistently to completion. The office staff at Quality Air were very responsive. Oleg, a project manager, met with the drywall company team promptly in the morning to ensure the work was coordinated with the needs of the new system. Oleg came back in the afternoon and the following morning t o check progress on the work. This made ensured a satisfactory result for all involved.

Like I said, I expected the bill to be $89.00, but I don't consider the actual price of $95.00 to be significantly greater. In short, it went splendidly. They required no instruction, as soon as they recognized the unit, they came straight in, knew exactly what I had described and did the very thing I would have done had I had my own equipment. They cleared the small piece of drain line between my lobby floor condo unit and the drain pipe in the garage with a specially-designed pressure pump device, confirmed that it was cleared, tested it with enough water to be sure, reassembled the cooling unit and courteously dismissed themselves, indicating that the company would send a bill. Where other contractors had seemed surprisingly confused about what I was asking and requested peculiar activities in advance of the visit, or even cancelled without doing any work, these guys were top notch. I was stunned that a great many more companies wouldn't beg to make a reasonable wage on such an easy job, but it was difficult to find someone to whom it was a trivial matter. It was no challenge for these technicians, who marched in cleared the line and verified it inside of what must have been no more than twenty minutes.

I have been searching for a while for anyone in the DC/MD/VA area who works or replaces these convector units. Long story short this is the ONLY company who has the correct licensing/insurance to do the job. The price is what it is. I thought it was high until I found one company who was $1000.00 higher just because they do not replace them that much.

They were very prompt in giving an estimate, contract, and scheduling. They are very busy, and you can tell by the ladies who answer the phone.

The techs were great, they were efficient, on time, clean, polite, and very professional. I would use them again. they seem to known what they are doing.

If you live in DC/MD/VA and you have a convector - chances are you will have to use them. They do good work, you will be happy with the outcome.
