Every year we dread getting our rugs cleaned b/c the experiences with the different companies we've used has been a circus; either calls after pickup to increase the cleaning price or the pickup/delivery guys were ridiculously late and/or seemed like they hated their jobs. This year we used Pooshan b/c they were recommended by a friend of ours. We will use them again for our yearly oriental rug cleaning - this was the best experience I have ever had with a rug cleaning company in the DC metro area. They were comparably priced for cleaning of our 3 orientals to others on Angie's list and their pickup and delivery service was perfect. They picked up and delivered on Saturdays and arrived exactly on time. The 2 gentleman were professional and efficient in picking up and laying out our rugs. They pointed out where they were semi successful in removing an ink stain (again - a dog chewing a pen), which they had told us about on pickup might not come out. The repair to the 1 rug looks great - it is hardly noticeable and it involved reweaving and matching the color for a section that is colored a sun faded brick red. This was the smoothest, most transparent transaction with a rug cleaning that we've ever had.

I would like to vociferously warn the public about the poor quality service and workmanship Pooshan provides. The owner of the company is unprofessional, dishonest and corrupt. He promises a product and associated service that he does not deliver. His installers are horrible. To call them subpar would be charitable. They were supposed to install a large amount of extremely high quality, expensive carpeting in the upper level of my home. The crew rushed through a very extensive job (five large rooms) in less than one work day in order to go on vacation. In their haste, they cut the carpet too short and improperly placed the tac strips so that the carpet would not adhere to the floor. The installation was a joke. They were sloppy and made an utter mess of the whole job. The carpeting all came up from the floor with simple light vacuuming, exposing all the tac strips and tacs sticking up dangerously throughout the rooms. That was Alan (the owner)'s and quot;finished product.and quot; Instead of offering to remedy the situation, Alan avoided my attempts to contact him directly after the supposed and quot;installation.and quot; He did not offer to send a crew to actually INSTALL the carpet, but instead claimed that wall to wall carpeting that can be EFFORTLESSLY lifted up and FOLDED BACK at the corners of the room is the norm. He defended the abysmal job his crew had done and called it complete. Ultimately, dealing with Pooshan's owner and his installers was a frustrating, incredibly costly ordeal, as I had to hire and pay another carpet installation company to repair the damage Pooshan had done and to properly install the carpet. Alongside the financial toll is the cost to me in wasted time, effort and the aggravation at having to do business with such a dishonest and unprofessional individual. In your own best interests, I strongly advise AGAINST having any dealings with Pooshan World of Rugs or its owner, Alan, unless you would prefer to turn your wall to wall carpeting into just what the company's name suggests - a rug.

We had a good experience here. My wife and I received a rug, purchased from this store, as a Christmas gift. We decided we wanted a rug twice as large, and had no problem with them giving us credit for the original rug and selecting a larger rug. (Our friend gave us the purchase receipt.) We feel they were focused on our satisfaction, since they spent a lot of time with us flipping through the rugs for us and being patient while my wife and I discussed whether certain rugs would look good in our living room.
The staff seemed to be knowledgeable about their products, pointing out differences in the material and construction of the rugs that I would not have ever noticed myself. They also have a huge selection of rugs and the prices seemed reasonable and somewhat lower than we had seen at another rug store.
