Customer Beware! A gas hot water heater previously installed by Mindte sprung a leak after 3 years, so we called the company to make a warranty claim. Upon inspection, the company agreed to replace the unit, but then charged us $1,200 for 1.5hrs of labor to install the new unit and haul away the old one. Calls to several competitors revealed that it would cost between $1,600 - $1,900 to install a new unit, INCLUDING the cost of the unit itself. Upon learning this news, my wife called Anna at Mindte to express her concern about what appeared to be a substantial overcharge for the work performed. Anna promised my wife she would talk to the technician, and in the meantime, would hold the check and NOT cash it. Instead, we subsequently learned that Mindte immediately cashed the check and stopped responding to our calls. We’ve never again heard from them. Through calls to WSSC, we also learned that Mindte had not pulled a permit for the original installation in 2017 or the replacement in 2020, despite a county licensing requirement that all gas installations be permitted and inspected. During the course of our discussions with WSSC, we were also informed that ONLY Mr. Mindte is licensed to perform installation of gas hot water heaters … and he was not present for the work performed on our property. As a sidenote, we had previously asked Mindte for an estimate to replace our main HVAC unit and were quoted a price of $7,500. We just had the work done by a reputable company in the DC area for $4,000. We had previously used Mindte for many years, but we no longer believe them to be a reputable company.

They installed the system in May 1989. They have been doing the maintenance every since. They give you a window of time when they were going to come and show up during that time. The cost was fair for the service.

They were fairly quick. They were not inexpensive. They were sort of a little above average. The reason we went with them is that they put in the heating system initially. They were okay. I would consider using them again. I would shop around probably.

I'm pretty happy with them. They have had the same people for many years so they're very stable technicians and as a result they know the difference and they know me and I know them and that counts a lot because when the guy comes, I know he's the same guy I've talked to before. They're not always here when they say but that's probably same with all air conditioning.

Technician arrived promptly after call. Technician was courteous and professional. He identified problem after thorough examination of our furnace. He had to obtain the proper blower. He came back the next business day which we were at home and installed it in about an hour.

The work was done in about 5 hours with no problems and exceptionally well. This included removing the furnace from my friends home and bringing it to our home. Not a hitch. Punctual, neat, courteous, and efficient. In fact, the guys even answered all my pestering questions with a smile.

You would think with two heat pumps that only one would quit working at one time, leaving the other operationa. Well, not so. Called Mindte and Martha scheduled me for the first available opening. Also at that time she suggested I check the fuses and capacitors. Well, I had already checked the fuses even though the blower was working on both of them...just no cold air. I wasn't about to deal with the capacitors even though I know what they are. Of course the first thing the repairman checked was the capacitors and one was obvious (bulging). The other capacitor was more subtle, just a small bulge. Replaced both and got them blowing cold air. Noticed one of the units wasn't cooling as well as it should so checked the freon and added more. Then cleaned the grill around both units. Happy to say they both work now and my house has stabilized at a comfortable temperature.

They did a good job. The price was substantial, but it was in line as compared to the other companies. I chose them because of their price. Also, they had responded very quickly. They were very professional. I would use them again in the future.
