Contacted Kirby for pricing as well as one other contractor, and compared to other advertised prices.  Standard Kirby price was better than the others sale pricing.  Staff was very friendly and quoted two prices over the phone - had asked for 2 options of install of the fans.
Technician arrived exactly on time, after a brief discussion of the work to be done and look at the rooms he explained how they normally do wiring and junction box install and got right to work.  They installed wiring from the existing light switch on the wall and ran power up to the middle of the ceiling where they drilled a hole and put in support junction boxes for the new ceiling fans.  The light switch originally controlled a wall outlet, they changed it so that the outlet is always powered and the switch will control power to the ceiling fan.
The other great thing about Kirby, is the tech put down drop clothes in all the spaces he was working and cleaned up very well afterward.  Other than our new junction boxes in the ceiling there was no sign they were ever there.  They cleaned up very well, and was very appreciated.
We chose to not have Kirby mount the ceiling fans for us to save a few dollars.  They were very understanding of that decision and did not push us to spend the extra money.
We will definitely hire them in the future.

DO NOT RECOMMEND KIRBY ELECTRIC! Kirby Electric Inc. of Rockville MD; Installed my brand new 12K Standby Generator. This proved to be a precarious and dangerous install. Kirby Inc. installed his own switch box with a modified switch that was not original equipment by the manufacturer. Kirby Inc. installed 200 Amp Service into a 100 Amp switch box. I learned this information after having a licensed qualified electrician check the install after the system’s failure. Kirby Inc. retained the switch box that came with the new Standby Generator. Kirby Inc. provided the altered switch box that failed and caused an electrical fire in my home. I called and spoke with Kirby on two occasions after the damage occurred. Kirby Inc. claimed he would respond to my residence and fix the damaged switch box and wiring at NO CHARGE. We agreed on the following day at 11:00 AM. Kirby FAILED to show. I haven't spoken with him since. I give him an opportunity to make things right. He agreed to it, however, in his actions as noted, refused corrective measures. At the time of installation, he claimed to give me a good deal because a mutual friend recommended his Company. I did not know of Kirby Electric Inc. prior to this. Kirby Inc. charged me $1750.00 which at best is fair. Good deal or not, the installation was incorrectly completed with CODE Violations. Kirby did this work in Frederick MD and is not licensed to do so. I acquired this information after the fact. Now, I have to pay for another install as Kirby Inc. will not stand by his work. This time I went with a true Standby Generator professional. They are licensed and accredited. I also obtained a local permit for the installation. Learn by my experience. First, beware of Kirby Inc. of Rockville. Only hire a licensed, accredited company. I also recommend obtaining a permit to protect you with home owners insurance in the event something dreadful goes wrong as it did with me.

Kirby received the request on May 9 and arrived on May 10. They provided a written estimate that we 50% less than that provided by a competitor. We've used Kirby before; find them highly professional and will use them for future electrical work.

Workers were courteous and on time. Also answered questions unrelated to the work being done. Only quibble was with the way the new line was run thru the laundry room. Rather than go thru the beams with a hole, it was stapled onto the underside of the ceiling beam. Nor only does it look sloppy, but if I decide to finish the room, I would need to have someone come and re run the line so I could get a ceiling in. Also, discouraged me from  rerouting some of the lines from a single breaker. I felt there were too many on one circuit and wanted to split with a new one. Didn't get a good explanation of why not,  just felt he didn't want to get into all that work. Other than that the work was done in a clean and timely manner.

The electrician was very courteous about walking through his process and how I wanted to see the work done. It ended up taking him longer and we had to schedule another time but I felt very confident in his work and care. He was very professional and even encouraged a different tactic to try to save us money.

This is the second time Kirby E has worked for me. It was the same electrician and I was glad to have him back. The work was done with no problems even though I have an eighty year old house that is not necessarily standard in any way.

The only lack of communication was in regard to a position of the outside grounding for the electric panel that the crew selected without consultation with the owner of the house.  An employee chose to place a rod in a place affecting the gardening even though there were some other more fortunate and still compatible with the code places available.  The place of the grounding was not change even though my wife requested such change.

Ludwin was very professional and took extra steps to protect our flooring and the surrounding work areas.  His communication skills are superior in that he listened to my ideas and made suggestions to make the project even better.   He did the job rather quickly and everything came out perfectly.  Additionally, he patched the few areas that he opened in the ceiling.  We were so pleased with his work that we asked for a quote on another electrical project that hope to complete in the near future.

They are good; I use them all the time. They have done 3 or 4 things for us and they have always been very prompt and provided good service. They are not expensive. They give me pricing in advance and charge reasonable prices. The respond quickly and come out when they say they are going to. Their quality of work is good; everything is still working.

They have done extensive upgrades, repairs, replacements, emergency work and rebuilds of antique fixtures.  They saved me from a major catastrophe, answered my emergency call, told me what to do to be safe, came as quickly as they could, did a temporary and then a final fix and saw to it that I was satisfied.  Always reliable and professional.  I put a B on price only because I did receive two slightly lower estimates on the rental house next door, but in the end, and having been burned on low estimates, I went with reliable and quality service I know.  The rental heavy up was more complicated than we had anticipated and when I evaluated the estimates, there were items listed that said "not covered" which led me to believe that the job would have cost as much or more than Kirby charged.  I have been burned by special deals and attempts to add on services once the job is begun.  That never happens with Kirby.  I also appreciate that they have the same crew working year after year.  It means they don't have workers who are looking for a better place to work, because they have a solid employer to begin with.   I would recommend Kirby to anyone.

Mr. Kirby was very professional and talked us through the process. When the electrician actually came out to do the work, he was very friendly and went out of his way to help describe what our electric company had to do next to finish the job. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I would definitely call them again.

We have worked with Cliff Kirby for over 10 years and are always very pleased with price and performance. Cliff and his employees are prompt, courteous and very good at their work. I have always found them to be honest and never felt like they tried to talk me into extra work to up the price. On this most recent job, they worked with us to figure out the best placement for lighting fixtures and outlets to meet our needs. The crew was efficient, friendly, and cleaned up at the end of the job.

After my first meeting with Cliff Kirby,  I felt comfortable hiring his company.  He was easy going, and priced the job on the spot. He also informed me of additional costs we may incur for items we may choose to add at the time the work is performed.  His price was reasonable, and realistic compared to the high estimate/cost given to me by 2 other competing companies.  One of Mr. Kirby's electrician's, Corey, performed the work.  He arrived on time, with a helper.  Corey was friendly, and communicative.  He understood exactly what we wanted, and performed the work to our specifications.  We  ended up adding 2 additional outlets which priced out according to Mr. Kirby's original proposal.   Additionally, they took  the time and effort to make sure everything was clean and in place before they left.  At no extra charge, they also repaired and patched areas where they had to make holes. The other companies did not include patchwork.

I called Kirby Electric after finding their name on Angie's List and was told of the cost of the visit and the time frame in which the serviceperson would arrive. If anything he came early! He assessed the problem, took the fixture ( a light post with 4 small bulbs in top) apart. I did not watch the whole time, but he did spend some time taking it apart carefully. After diagnosing the problem and putting it back together, he came to the door and explained what he had found. He also said that he tried his best to straighten the pole (I couldn't even see that it was leaning!) but said that it was as straight as it would get because the cement base was uneven (which it is, but that had nothing to do with his work).  He just wanted us to know. Overall, I was thoroughly pleased.

They are the only electrical repair company I've ever hired who showed up when they said they would. They gave a time window, but they usually arrive right at the early part of the window. They are professional and they clean up after themselves. I have not had any problems with any of the work they've done for me. When they installed the ceiling lights, they were careful to remove and replace the drywall that they took out and repaired it well. All we had to do was paint it when they were done! It was perfect.

They were very personable and came right away. We have been very happy with their work. Cory did most of the work and I would recommend them. I thought what they charged was reasonable, but I don't have much to compare it to. I thought the quality was very good and the experience overall was very good.

They did a great job. This is the 2nd time I have used Kirby. The first time I was with the electrician most of the day - I watched her - she was extremely conscientious of doing a clean job , even in our shed. She even fixed some wires that weren't in her scope as she "just thought it needed to be done to prevent problems". They were very honest about figuring out methods to try to do some jobs cheaper (buy a wireless fan controller instead of them re-wiring the switch - save $100), which resulted in less money for them but a much happier customer. Their prices are fair - not basement bargain but certainly a good value. I will continue to use them and recommend them.
