Hippo Cleaning Services

Had basement area with yellow mold on carpet.  About 100 sq ft total with perhaps 10% of the area covered with visible yellow mold spots.  Called on Friday and was told cost would be $69 for cleaning and $20 to $80 for mold treatment.  When technicion came on Monday, he was driving truck labeled "USA CleanMaster". He said carpet needed "deep cleaning" and cost was $200 plus tax.  When I mentioned what I had been told over the phone, he said something like "they always underestimate".  I didn't want to waste another day geting someone else so I had him do the cleaning.  The mold "Treatment" was putting some type of enzyme into the hot water used to clean the carpet.  It was not a separate treatment except to wait a few minutes after spraying it on.
When the cleaning was done, the carpet was clean but I felt I was subject to a "bait and switch" and was charged about twice as much as I should have been.  
I called Rockville Carpet Cleaning MD and was basically told they were sorry but their quote of $69 for cleaning one room plus $20 to $80 more for mold treatment was an estimate.  They said another $50 over their quoted upper cost value was no big deal.
