Although I had been in constant contact with this company, I was still surprised when I arrived at closing with "Well, I guess you know you are not closing today." No, we didn't know and we certainly expected to be closing after travelling 180 miles for the appointment. A week later, we were issued a check for overpayment of recording fees. Then--11 days later and with no communication from the company--they stopped payment on the check. $445 was suddenly withdrawn from our bank account and we were assessed penalties. When I finally got a response from the company all they could say is they made a mistake and would not even cover the bank fees. They had no explanation for why they couldn't call, text or email us when they discovered their error.
