Today we called Congressional Aquarium to find out if they had any water hyacinths. We didn't want to travel all the way there if they didn't have any. The gentleman answering our call assured us he did have them so we immediately drove up there. Much to our surprise they didn't have any water hyacinths except for two or three brownish looking ones. Definitely not worth buying especially at close to $8. For that price I can get them at my fancy garden store closer in. What a let down in customer service. And the prices, obviously not worth it.

Their prices are not as low as big-box pet stores, but I am willing to pay more because I get the expertise of the floor staff. They have gone out of their way to be helpful, even asking that I bring in a water sample when I had questions about my tank maintenance, and then testing the water (for free!) to provide suggestions on a solution. They provided referrals for maintenance services when I need to hire someone to take over regular tank cleaning in my home after I started grad school. I am extremely happy with the person who I ended up hiring; he comes once every four weeks and does a full tank cleaning and charges $50, and I change the cartridge and clean the filter housing once between his visits. And my fish are so much happier!
