The salesman, Jon, arrived on time. He was very knowledgeable and gave a brief but comprehensive presentation. He provided a timely quote to replace the roofs of our 20-year old townhouse and garage. The price was right in-line with expectations and significantly less than a competitor that wanted to seek partial reimbursement through our homeowners insurance. It took the roofers two days to complete the job. They were very careful to protect our deck railing. Overall they did a terrific job on the roofing and cleaned up well afterward. I would definitely hire Central Exteriors again.

My estimator Ian answered all my questions and came out a second time to go over everything before I signed the contract. The work was done promptly and the workmen were very polite. By the time I got home the roof was done (1 day) and the yard was spotless. Everything was done professionally and I was completely satisfied with the work. I also am impressed by their long-term warranty.

The work went fine. The problem is that 7.5 or 8 years into a ten-year warranty, the roof started leaking, then it began leaking in two spots, over the stairwell, and in the larger of the two upstairs rooms. Central Roofing sent the roofer who had originally built the roof out several times, and each time said that it was fixed. They did fix the smaller leak over the stairwell (and we had the ceiling repaired a few months ago), but the larger leak, in the upstairs room, continued. Several months before the end of the warranty, in September of 2018, I spoke with Eric Kibler, who said that they would replace that entire section of roof and pay for our ceiling damage. He asked me to send him a reminder email. I did, and sent a follow-up a month later. He never responded, or responded to my (probably two) phone messages. I tried reaching the roofer; he took several months to respond, and said that he'd left the company. The roof is still leaking , and I recently called Eric Kibler again, and said in a message that I think it is reasonable to expect that even though the roof is no longer under warranty, that they do what they promised to do while it was still under warranty. He didn't return my call.

"I'm sorry this member had so many issues trying to get in touch with our team members. We always recommend that homeowners (customers and potential customers) call our main office at 301-881-2424. I have 2 full time admin assistants on staff to answer the phone and make sure the correct people in our office get important messages. We could have had this member's issues resolved much more quickly. At any rate, once we were made aware of this member's ongoing issues, we jumped right to task and replaced the offending section of her roof as it was under warranty."

Although they responded to the inquiry, they were unwilling to do a repair and only wanted to do the job if it were a full replacement. It tooks= several confused phone calls to determine this, but at least they didn't waste my time coming out.

"I'm sorry we were not able to provide services for this Angie's List member. At this time, the only repairs that we do are asphalt shingle repairs on sloped shingle roofs. This member was asking for a soffit and fascia wood repair, which is not something that we are currently staffed for."

On the date of the scheduled work, the workers arrived on time, began their tasks immediately, and labored continuously until the job was completed. Within a day, the contractor provided a method for me to pay the invoice electronically.

Central Exteriors was the third estimate I got for my roof work. The owner, Terry Greenberg returned my call right away and was able to get over for an estimate within a few days. Terry offered several options for replacement and explained in layman's terms the benefits of each. Once I decided to go with Central Exteriors, the work was scheduled within a few weeks. The crew arrived on time and went straight to work. I was most impressed with the clean-up. The crew went through my yard, picked up debris and even used a blower to get old shingle out of my shrubs. No surprises with extra charges and good, quality work. I would definitely recommend Central Exteriors.

I am a real estate appraiser and have seen many roof replacements and know several roofers. Among the three companies I interviewed, Central Roofing was far in a way, the most professional and courteous people I called. Not only was their price the best, the quality of material, including additional options included was notably superior to the other two. There were professional from start to finish, and 6 to 9 months later, the roof looks great and I have absolutely not one little issue with them or the roof. Siding Service
After the siding was damaged on the front side of my house after a storm, I contacted several companies for this repair. Central Siding was one of the few companies that wanted to do such a "small job". I was contacted by Jonathan Harteis who was happy to schedule this work for me. Jonathan was very professional and worked with me in getting the replacement siding to match with the siding that was not damaged in the storm. I am extremely happy with the result and I would definitely recommend them, I will use them in the future for any roofing and siding needs that I may have.

Estimater called and said he'd do the estimate. When i explained it was an historic district and needed specific types of materials, he said "no problem." When i explained that someone needed to be home so he could do accurate estimate for the back yard gutters, and offered to schedule that visit at his convenience, he said he would provide the estimate without such a need. He never showed up as far as i know, and I have never received an estimate. Ridiculous waste of my time.

"This seems like a misunderstanding. Our notes indicate that this member required only a small amount of gutters for the back of his row home in DC. We understand the need for specific materials due to this being in a historic district, however, since it's such a small job, this would have been up against our minimum charge ($400) for gutters no matter what materials were required. We spoke to this member and went over our minimum gutter charges over the phone and he decided not to proceed with us. That's why an official estimate was never sent."

We had estimates from three companies. Luckily we went for Central Roofing, the experience was outstanding. They didn't sell us anything we didn't need. For example, while the flashing was old and kind of dirty looking, they confirmed it was of high quality and didn't need replacement. Scheduling was easy and Jon was very responsive throughout the process. His answers were always prompt and helpful. We would contract them again.

Gutter Repair and Replacement
We wanted to upgrade to larger gutters and downspouts, and we got several bids. All were in a similar range, but the service from Jon at Central Roofing was by far the most conscientious and detailed. He explained various options and their benefits and drawbacks but never was pushy. He was responsive in all of our phone and e-mail communications and kept in touch throughout the estimate, scheduling, and execution process. I especially appreciated that he double checked to make sure our house's fascia boards could accommodate the larger gutters before going ahead with the work. We were out of town when the work was completed and returned to spiffy new (large) gutters that we hope can better accommodate the torrential downpours that seem to occur with greater frequency every year in this region. Fair price, good service, and good work are all I can ask for, and I would be happy to recommend Central or hire them again for our roofing needs.

"I'm really sorry this member has not had a good experience with our company. I'm not sure why they have so much vitriol against my company, but this is now the 3rd review site where this person has left an "F" review. Here's the same response I posted on another site: Raising prices is always a difficult decision and something we try to avoid whenever possible. However, this spring and summer, there have been several material price increases, dump fee price increases, and even labor price increases. I would have been more than happy to do the job for the original estimate in March, when we were first contacted, however it's now July, the customer has still not made up their mind as to which contractor to use and market conditions have changed. I can assure this customer and all of my future customers, that our margins are still some of the lowest in the area and most of my competitors are charging even more money for the same services. He says my prices are the highest, but he's not comparing me to another legitimate company. He's comparing my price to some one person company that works out of his house and hires day laborers. That's not exactly an apples to apples comparison."

The estimating process and the work performance was very good. However, the scheduling and communication in between was not good. I had to keep calling to get updates on when the job would be done. Finally I was given a date for delivery of the material (a Monday) and a date for the work to be done (Wednesday of the same week). When I called to verify the material delivery I was told that the installation date had slipped to Thursday or Friday of that same week and not Wednesday. However, Wednesday morning came and the installation crew showed up in my driveway at 7:30 am with no notice. The installation was performed that day and the work crew was very professional and the work was well done. I gave them an overall "Good" rating because of the quality of work. The communication with the salesman and the scheduling department was quite unprofessional.
