Do NOT use this agent! As a first-time home buyer, this was a horrible experience. Though Ms. Okelo claimed to know a lot about the DC Real Estate market, she in fact made a HUGE mistake for me and my boyfriend in the end. We were both told that we qualified for a certain tax abatement program, based on where we were buying our condos and our 2007 incomes. The abatement was in the amount of tens of thousands of dollars between the two of us which we were told we did not have to pay. Ms. Okelo NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN WRITING from the DC government confirming our exemption. Over a month after we each closed on our condos, she and the title company, Aspen Title (which I would also HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST USING), said that we in fact did not qualify for the tax exemption and had to cough up the money. She never once took responsibility for her unprofessional negligence nor did she offer any of her commission to help cover this unexpected fee. In addition, our deeds still have not been recorded, which means we technically do not own our homes! We intend to file a complaint with the DC Board of Real Estate.
