I bought a GE Cafe microwave from AJ Madison in July 2024. In January, 2025, the light came on, notifying the owner to change the charcoal filter. True, the instructions in the GE owner's manual were terrible - they were only vaguely correct, and the illustration looked nothing like my microwave - and I can't say much for the design flaw in the vent replacement positioning that caused me to call GE to send a repairman after the microwave subsequently stopped working after I plugged it back in as the manual directed. But imagine my surprise when he noticed that the EXHAUST FAN BEHIND THE FILTER WAS INSTALLED BACKWARD! The exhaust fan should have been installed facing the other way for my microwave oven because it was supposed to operate in RECIRCULATE mode, NOT EXTERNAL EXHAUST mode. Of course, I knew that my apartment had no external exhaust and I TOLD THE APPLIANCE LAND SALES AGENT TO SPECIFY RECIRCULATE MODE. But it really shouldn't have mattered if the sales agent was so stupid they forgot to tell the installers because EVEN A COMPLETE MORON COULD SEE THERE IS NO EXTERNAL EXHAUST VENT IN MY KITCHEN. BUT DID THE INSTALLERS THAT APPLIANCE LAND SENT NOTICE THAT? NO! DID THEY TAKE FIVE MINUTES WITH A SCREWDRIVER TO REVERSE THE FAN TO THE RECIRCULATE POSITION? NO! So, after six months of using it in my kitchen, I found out that my new $1000 microwave oven was operating with the fan installed backward. Not good. I would suggest you folks BUY YOUR MAJOR APPLIANCES SOMEWHERE BESIDE APPLIANCELAND because either their sales staff are stupid and incompetent and/or APPLIANCELAND doesn’t care about whether the people they hire to install the appliances they sell know what they are doing.

I purchased a washing machine from Appliance Land on Rockville Pike in April 2023. We refused new hose lines because we already had steel lines and the sales representative did not disclose that they needed to be replaced every 2-3 years. When they came to install the washer, the installers put in their "notes" that we were told that the lines needed to be replaced and they would give us/install the hose lines they brought for free. According to their "notes" the installers indicated that we refused the offer at that time. The truth is that they NEVER told us they would not charge us to install the free hose lines at the point of delivery (who would refuse free hose lines/installation?!) - we were told that they could come back for a $99 charge to install at a later date. This complaint is not about money, it is about the principle of them not being trust worthy. They were not forthright from the beginning and now have said we refused a free offer of product/installation, which is not true. The person we spoke with about resolving the issue was unhelpful and somewhat rude. I would NOT recommend this business.

Bought KitchenAid refrigerator, microwave & dishwasher from ApplianceLand for apprx $5,700. (2) serious issues that Salesperson Kuert Straubinger, Brooke (Assist. General Mgr.), and Chris Patane (General Mgr.) refuse to remedy. BUYERS BEWARE!! Even when our remedies are simple & realistic, ApplianceLand refuses to correct and has abandoned us after the sale & delivery; see below. We are forced to file complaint with BBB & MC Consumer Protection to get remedied. Issue #1: 12/15/21 - Relocation of our Existing Refrigerator: a. Per agreement & verbal agreement, our fully operational existing side-by-side kitchen refrigerator was relocated by "their" installers to our bsmt, however after they plugged it in, our refrigerator has failed to work. The lights come on, however it doesn't cool & you don't hear compressor running. Installers confirmed refrig. was working prior to their move. b. While moving refrigerator through bsmt door, they ripped off our screen door latch on the door jamb & my husband had to re-drill & re-install. Remedy Requested: We would like this refrig repaired or replaced immediately. Issue #2: 12/15/21 - Newly Delivered Refrigerator: a. Right door consistently squeaks. b. Ice maker occasionally drops ice out of shoot on its own. c. Top inside corners of both doors have dents in them. d. Top left door insulation is exposed around door frame. e. Installers did not fully remove plastic wrap from around door edge & it appears will require special tool to remove. Installer tried to remove some with carpet knife, but was afraid he would scratch door if removed remaining plastic. Remedy Requested: We expect the refrigerator to be replaced with a new one. This appears to be a Lemon & we don't want future issues. We do not want replacement doors as they recommended, since “their” installers informed us that the doors are factory fitted & once you taken off and re-installed, the seal never fits back correctly.

Buying product was easy, returning not possible. Refused to accept return of item still in box, within days of purchase. Insisted item was special order, which salesman specifically said was not. Unpleasant experience. Shop elsewhere.

Very well. Our second time purchasing an appliance from Applianceland. Both the sales people and delivery/installation people are professional. The sales people are very, very knowledgeable, unlike the knuckleheads at big-box stores! Appliances are all they sell at Applianceland - so they know there stuff really well. Applianceland is also one of the only places around for many miles that sells Speed Queen washing machines and dryers - which are designed to last 25 years and built to commercial laundromat standards.

I worked with Dan at Appliance Land who helped me select new appliances for my kitchen. He definitely knows his products, and cheerfully took the time with me to make sure the appliances I selected worked with my space, budget, and had the features I wanted. There was a lot on the store floor to look at, and he made sure I saw the details of the different products. It was great to work with someone so knowledgeable.
The installation went only OK. Pros: they were on time and professional. The installation of my new range went fine. Cons: The handle on my fridge needed to be switched to the other side of the door, and they unfortunately made scratches on my fridge and the handle was not re-attached well (it jiggled). Fortunately when I called Appliance Land to see how to get it fixed, I spoke with Luke who arranged to have the fridge door replaced with a new one. When the installers came this time (same ones), again they were punctual, pleasant to work with, and this time the handle was switched with no problem.
Finally, the same installers came one last time to hook up my icemaker and level the fridge, and they took time to make sure it was done well. He made sure I had the option to install a filter if I need to in the future, and also took extra time to level the stove as I had gotten a new floor since it was installed and it needed to be leveled again. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.
Luke followed up with me after it was all done, to make sure everything had gone well.
I would definitely use ApplianceLand again. Thanks.

Luke at Applianceland was extremely helpful in answering all my questions. He also recommended the Whirlpool Duet pair that I eventually purchased. Fortunately Applianceland had a floor model at a price I could afford because the Whirlpool is an expensive line. I believe the set is well worth the price. They exhibit a minimum of vibration and noise. And my clothes come out very clean.
The installation was performed on schedule with no problems. I have been using the new washer and dryer for 6 months now and have not encountered any problems with them.
I will likely do a kitchen remodel in a few years and I will certainly look at Applianceland again.

They were mildly helpful in the store, happy to take the order. The delivery guys were decent, but the after purchase experience was horrible.

Terrible experience. Bought range and dishwasher. Price was okay, but delivery and installation costs were to high compared to others, in my judgment. Sales people were knowledgeable. Problem was the installation. They installed the dishwasher so that the door couldn't be opened all the way and it made a loud screeching noise when moved. They left, claiming that the countertop was warped and that was the cause of the problem. They were forced to return when we complained, and instead of trying to fix the problem, they took pictures of the kitchen (without being authorized to do so) presumably in an effort to justify their inability to install the dishwasher properly. I spoke to the manager who basically told me that he was confident in his "position" that the dishwasher could not be properly installed and basically told me it was my problem. We had to hire another installer. Lo and behold, this installer quickly discovered that the problem was not the warped countertop. Instead, he told us that the Applianceland installer had failed to properly balance the range, so that it was leaning on a sideboard under the counter and pushing the sideboard into the space necessary to install the dishwasher properly. This person fixed the problem quickly and the dishwasher is now properly installed. So we had to pay extra to get an installer who knew what they were doing. Needless to say, my view of Applianceland is extremely negative and I would not recommend them. I wrote to the manager explaining everything that had happened, including the details of the poor installation by his employees. Needless, to say, I have not received an offer to reimburse me for having to pay for another installer, or even the courtesy of a response.

I had been waiting for the refrigerator to come off the production line from the manufacturer for quite some time. This was the replacement upgraded model that Consumer Reports considered a best buy in one of its 2010 magazines. When I was finally ready, it just turned out to be around Thanksgiving and the sales price had been reduced on Black Friday. They took the oder over the phone and committed to delivery within 2 weeks. Sure enough, they called and told me it was in and we arranged delivery for a week later. They called the morning of delivery and told me a two hour window that they would be delivering the refrigerator. As agreed, they took away the old refrigerator, brought in the new one and within the hour, all was working and operable. I was very pleased with their service and recommend them highly.

Purchase: Liz gave helpful advice, and was not bothered by our preference for "basic" models. Delivery was on time. (Actually, a little early.) Installation was quick, neat, pleasant people to deal with. Everything was carried out exactly as we were told to expect.

I purchased the GE dishwasher from Applianceland. They installed the dishwasher 3 days later on October 19th 2007. They installed the dishwasher and turned it on but did not wait until the cycle had finished. The dishwasher would start the first cycle and then this dark oily brown gunk came out everywhere. The door does not close properly and the dishwasher shimmies back and forth when it runs in that first cycle. I contacted Applianceland and they just told me to contact GE for repair. I spoke with GE and they were unable to fix the dishwasher. I feel that Applianceland does not back up their products and did not take the time to make sure 100% that my new dishwasher worked properly after installation. Updated as of 2/11/08: They finally gained approval from the area rep of GE to install a new dishwasher. The new one came directly from GE not the store.

It was very easy. I drove to Rockville, interacted with the sales person and I bought the dish washer that I wanted. They took all my information for the best time to come and deliver and install it at my home. They called before they came and even took my old dish washer away. I didn't shop around but I think the price was competitive.

I saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a washing machine/dryer combo for a good price. I was able to order them over the phone, and Applianceland had them delivered and installed within three business days.

Our sales rep, Liz, worked with us to choose appliances that fit our lifestyle and budget. When we had questions about how an appliance would fit with our new kitchen design, she phoned our designer herself to sort things out. She also let us know about rebates we were eligible for, and helped us fill out those forms. The appliances arrived on time (with the exception of the dishwasher, which came damaged and needed to be re-shipped) and the delivery workers helped us find the serial numbers needed for the rebates. Liz was very responsive about the damaged dishwasher, and made sure that we recieved the new dishwasher before it needed to be installed. (We didn't do any comparison shopping, so I can't grade them on the price, but I'm very glad we used them).

While the dishwasher was the best price of all the places I went to look, the service was a bit mediocre at best. I was told a date and time for installation. It was changed 3 times because the item came in damaged, it didn't come in the day it was supposed to etc. Having to accomodate 3 changes was annoying. Also, when I was given a 4th date, I asked that the installer come at a specific time. Instead he was 1 1/2 hours late. I had to leave. He was angry because of the ''traffic'' and was rather nasty to me. I'd recommend using another company if service and reliability is important to you.

A kitchen designer referred us to Liz Straubinger at the Rockville Pike store because she really knew appliances. She was terrific and really knew her stuff. The store does not look very professional and I was apprehensive but Liz and the staff more than made up for the facility. She made great recommendations and is truly a professional. The prices were better than others we had seen. She gave us a bunch of installation options. The appliances were delivered on time and exactly as described. We have had terrible experiences with Lowes but companies like Applianceland and Liz restore your faith in great company service.

The service was impeccable. I had a problem one day with delivery due to the contractor remodeling the kitchen, and the people at appliance land made sure that the delivery of the appliances worked out so that installation went well. They have a good selection and did not try to talk me into a more expensive product, even though I did not buy top of the line. Still, I am pleased with what I chose.
