Norman, the Academy tech, showed up at the beginning of the expected time slot. He was very polite and got right to work on the issue. It was a quick fix (clogged line) and he performed the annual maintenance check at the same time for a very reasonable price. I really appreciated the honest and straightforward diagnostic and quick work. He tested the system multiple times to ensure that there were no other issues, and he provided a detailed explanation on the ticket he left with me. I have always found Academy to be straightforward and go the extra mile which is why we always go back to them. Norman's work was no exception - he is a great representative for the brand!

I have been a homeowner for over 35 years and I have never seen a more efficient professional company than Academy Heating and Air Conditioning. Came out found there was a leak and no freon left in the system and recommended replacement of the air conditioner but not the furnace as it was still in very good condition saving me thousands. I set up the appointment and a crew of three arrived promptly before our 9 a.m. appointment. They installed a Lennox a/c unit that was highly recommended and with a seer rating of 15 was double that of my old York unit of 8 seer. The crew explained everything and even gave us a lesson on how the programmable thermostat worked. I have replaced several units in my time but Academy is the diamond in the rough. I found that almost all of the technicians who work for this company have been with the company for years. That says a lot about the ownership of the company treating their people good and it's who you want working on your air conditioner. Experienced techs. Bottom line run don't walk in hiring this company for all your ac and heating needs.

The technician came three times. The first time, he diagnosed the problem (charged 1/2 hour of labor). The second time, he noticed he had not ordered the correct part. The third time, he fixed the issue (charged one hour of labor). We were without hot water for 5 days.

I was hesitant at first because I had seen some negative reviews on Angie's list. However, had had good experiences with them in years past, and they had the low bid so I decide to go with them. We received substantial rebates on the $9500 initial cost. | |They did a good job. They were prompt, efficient and responsive. There were a couple of small things they had to come back to tweak, but they did so promptly.

I have been using them for many years. They have installed a heating system for me. Recently I had problems with my air conditioning and they solved the problem quickly. They maintain my unit yearly. They solve my problems and they put me at ease. They are a very economical company. Academy Heating and Air Conditioning consistently provides professional and excellent service. I highly recommend them.

The service manager Bob Nibert came the same day we called for an estimate. A few days later, the technician Richard came punctually, was very organized and experienced, solved even difficult problems, stayed at the job till it was finished.
As the job has been done very recently, we do not yet know how the long term quality is. I had misgivings about the compatibility of the old AH (using Freon 22) and the new condenser, using Freon 410. I may have the numbers wrong, but the compatibility was worth thinking about. So far, no problems, and $4000 at least saved.

The Trane HVAC was operating (fan, blower, compressor, etc.), but it was not cooling adequately on the first hot day of the season. I was overseas when my wife noticed the problem, so I had her check our furnace room for the sticker and phone number of an HVAC company anticipating a coolant recharge. Unfortunately, she saw an old sticker from Academy - a company with whom we had no personal experience. The technician arrived as scheduled and began to service the unit.
His diagnosis was that it had a bad capacitor, a broken breaker, and a failing compressor. His recommendation: and quot;Time to replace the systems.and quot; He closed up the system, putting the bad capacitor back so he and quot;wouldn't have to charge us for it,and quot; and opening the breaker so it could not start accidentally. In closing the system, he left off 12 of the panel screws holding the unit together (I know exactly how many because I had to buy replacements) and left electrical connections open from where he had removed electrical lugs. In the course of his service call, he did recharge the coolant.
Given the condition of the system prior to his call (being a combination gas furnace and AC unit, it had just provided heat throughout the winter and it had been cooling, just not well) I didn't trust the diagnosis and sought a second opinion.
Another company came out and reviewed the system, noting the bad capacitor and the adequate refrigerant charge. They replaced the capacitor... and the system worked perfectly.
So, bottom line is the technician (identified by Academy as and quot;one of our bestand quot; in a subsequent telephone call) found a partially working unit in need of a coolant recharge and new capacitor, actually repaired the unit - and then undid the repair and left the unit completely disabled and partially dissassembled with a recommendation that it had to be replaced. AND they charged me to do so.

The heat pump replacement was done as expected. When all work was completed and the technicians were gone, so was a bottle of prescription cough syrup that was foolishly left on a table in the room where the work was being done. A very cool t-shirt that was hanging next to my attic stairs was also gone. I will never have this company in my home again!!!! Maybe they should drug test their employees...
