They didn't have to. I thought we had a garage door issue, and they came out. It had fixed itself. The gentlemen explained what often happens about something coming unconnected. All you do is run the garage door a couple times, to hook the cable back together. We didn't do it enough before he came out here. He didn't charge me anything. Nope. He was only here for five minutes. He said what was the problem, I told him this door here won't open look. I pressed the button, and it opened. They came at a convenient time. They called when they said they were on their way. They were very punctual. I felt like a complete fool, not figuring it worked for the week, before the appointment. That was nice of him to not charge us anything. There wasn't any service done, but the explanation was good.

Technician named Roman stopped by and identified the problem was an offset sensor, easily fixed, but stayed and did a general tuneup for us. We'll be having ABC back to replace the rollers.

Roman came out within the given time window, was courteous, did a quick evaluation and gave me the pricing to replace the spring and pulleys. This is the 2nd time I have used ABC Garage Repair myself and have referred them to at least 3-4 clients (I am a residential realtor) and all have been pleased.

My family recently purchased a home that is 10 years old and during the inspection, an issue came up with the safety mechanism that keeps the garage door from closing down on an obstruction (like your car, kid, or pet). I called ABC Garage and the customer service was very thorough in explaining that older models to not have that feature, so she walked me through the various models and pricing in case we wanted to replace the unit. We have young kids, so I knew we'd probably want to go with the upgrade. The day of the service call, the technician arrived promptly and verified that the current system was old enough that it didn't have this safety feature. We discussed the options again (he had all three models in his van) and he installed it promptly. When that was completed, he also showed how the garage door itself could use to be adjusted so it made less noise when opened. I was happy to pay the additional fee to get that resolved. All told, it was a very positive experience - professional, thorough, friendly, and timely. There is a 5-year warranty on the unit and 1-year labor warranty, but I expect this product to last much longer in the future.

This service turned out bad. They had to come back twice. The first time they replaced the springs and the remote and then they came to replace the motor.

"Hello, my name is Jesse and I have reviewed your comments. We do the very best that we can in our experience to diagnose all issues on the initial visit. We came out to replace your springs (they were obviously broken). If upon completion everything seems to be in good working order we do NOT find it necessary to charge you for and repair items that are not yet broken or showing signs of breaking soon. So yes your opener did end up breaking at a later time, and we are happy that you called us back, however it was working well after the springs were replaced. Your system is older and yes things start to break overtime. It is NOT right for us to come and tell you that you need an entire system when only one item presents itself as broken or in need of repair at the time. That then puts us in the place where customers say that we charge for unnecessary items or repairs which we do NOT do. So I do apologize for your experience not being as optimal as we hope for but I assure you that you were not charged for unnecessary repairs, or replacements and that we will honor our warranty regardless of how you feel about our company."

"Hello my name is Jesse and I would like to take this opportunity to perhaps explain some things that the tech did not. To start yes springs are based on the weight of your door, as you said you have an old, wood, heavy door. Additionally you received the heavy duty galvanized springs that have an expected life of at least 25,000 cycle; a standard spring that breaks every 3-5 years depending on use only has 7,000-10,0000 cycles roughly. So out your options of mediocre, standard and best springs you did receive the absolute longest lasting springs that can go on your door. As a homeowner myself I do completely understand that $600 is never fun to pay (especially when it is unexpected) but I promise a spring will not be breaking for a very long time. Again I apologize if your experience was not optimal, but I really hope that you reconsider letting us serve you in the future."

I had a time window of 8 am - 12 pm and my only real complaint is that the technician didn't arrive until almost 12 pm. I was given a call 30 minutes ahead of time however, so not too big of a deal. The technician performed a tune-up on my garage door and replaced the rollers. He mentioned that my gearbox is pretty old and may fail within the next year. He didn't try to sell me anything though and told me about replacement options and pricing when I inquired. He said everything was functioning well for now and was polite and professional. If the pricing was right, I would use this company again for garage door opener repair/replacement.

It was easy making an appointment. The office staff was helpful and I had a choice of days and times. Appointments are set for a 2-hour window and the technician called one-half hour before arriving.
Part of the work was covered by a local online coupon and part was a repair. The technician, David, was excellent. He was knowledgeable and competent at the job and was a pleasure to work with. I didn't know how he would solve the problem of the bracket, which was installed by another company. The replacement looks like it will last as longer than my house lol. The price charged was reasonable, and the work was done quickly and clean-up was perfect.
Needless to say, I will use ABC for any garage door work in the future.
