I went in with a funny sound on my Mini Cooper and wondered if it was the exhaust system. I wasn't sure if they could work on a Mini. But they said, no problem, and soon discovered it was that my oil level was very low and my car light wasn't indicating that. They also found other items that I already knew needed to be replaced, such as an air cabin system filter, which I had previously not gotten done at the dealer because of cost. I was happy when Bill told me he could easily replace them and at a fraction of the cost of the dealer. They also gave me a ride to my work and had the job done that day. Overall, I was very happy with the service and will be bringing my Mini back to bill in the future.

We have an auto mechanic that we are crazy about. It’s Total Automotive. We’ve been using them for probably about 25 years. It was kind of sticky because it was my husband’s car and he uses synthetic oil, which cost more. Someone who worked at a car dealer told us about them. Everything I would definitely say about them is, being a female, I am used to mechanics and people in the car business talking down to me. They explain and everything. They answer all of my questions regardless how stupid they are. They don’t treat me like I am stupid. They treat me just like they will treat a man. They have a great office staff. When I drop my car off, they take me to work.

The work was done properly. However when I was called and told my vehicle was ready for pickup, I arrived to find there were some electrical issues. They were very nice and fixed the problems while I waited. I'm not sure why the vehicle was not checked out before contacting me. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I thought their pricing was a bit high.

"Thank you for your feedback. We strive for quality customer service and we can only improve when we are aware of where we fall short. When we put a new battery in a vehicle, as we did with yours, we use a battery memory saver to prevent issues with the radio, power windows, power locks and other components that can arise when these lose power during the switch from the old battery to the new. Once in a while, a vehicle does not respond well to this battery memory saver. Because of this we check the most common trouble areas after we replace the battery: the radio and the power windows. We should have checked your key fob (for power lock function) as well. It was our mistake and you are right to correct us on this. We apologize for not having checked everything before your arrival to pick up your car. We work hard to provide a high level of customer service and that includes using only high quality parts which do tend to cost a bit more up front. We believe, though, that we provide our customers with a good value. We hope that you reconsider and give us the opportunity to provide you with better service on your next visit."

Total Automotive has been great to us. Its easy to reach them. They return calls. They make it easy to drop off and pick up. The car needed work after not passing inspection. Barbara was in touch with details and options along the way. She checked in even to tell me nothing new- but parts were on the way. Everyone at the shop was super nice. There are a few things I will be watching on the car, but instead of suggesting I spend more money and fix them- instead they said we can keep an eye on them and see what happens and take it from there. For instance, I thought I might need new tires. Instead they said they are okay for now and just pay attention to them. On my way out I chatted with Bill and he was friendly and said anything we need come back- and I know he meant it. I will be happy to use them again.

The repair shop is okay, but I think they're a little pricey, so I never went back to them. They gave me some quotes on replacing two tires and two rims, and that quote seemed way too high.

They've been doing work for us for about 20 years, so it's worked out quite well. I'm a female and I take the cars to the mechanic the majority of the time, and the mechanics never talk down to me and take the time to explain everything to me, which I really appreciate. They're also knowledgeable, take care of the work when they say they will, and we've had no problems whatsoever. We wouldn't take our car anywhere else!
