Top-notch! Custom Works built a large patio, wall, fire pit, and beautiful stairs in our back yard. We were impressed with their professionalism throughout the whole process. Glen walked us through the different materials and building options based on our budget. Nich was professional in all of his emails and responded quickly when we wanted to increase the size of the patio. The building team was 100%! They were efficient and did beautiful work. We absolutely love how everything turned out and would contract Custom Works again without hesitation.

My husband is detailed and particular and he had seven estimates lined up, did a ton of research; one of which was Custom Works. When Nich came out to do the estimate he was professional, very knowledgeable and genuinely interested in what my husband’s wanted to accomplish. He brought an iPad with thousands of pictures of projects they had done and as my husband was giving a run down of what he was looking for, Nich pulled up a project they did that was a perfect depiction of what we wanted. My husband showed him some of the various materials he had been looking at. Nich was knowledgeable about each and was honest with us. Some were higher in price, but Nich explained that there were a couple options of materials which were high quality and top ratings that were less expensive. He then gave several recommendations of the types of materials that would be a good fit and would save us thousands. Can’t say we have ever seen a company do that before where they saved us money. The crew that came out was neat, very talented and super courteous. The owner, Glen Wilson came onsite and inspected the progress and the was very personable and down to earth. We are so pleased with the workmanship and professionalism, we will recommend Custom Works to family and friends.

Glen (owner Custom Works) strung me along and repeatedly deceived me. I decided on CW after reading the reviews. I am a Senior Citizen who saved for some time to replace a falling 2nd story 1st generation (13x44) composite deck with a new 14x36 composite deck built by Custom Works. I endured a lot for the $36,175 job, 1) failed 10/24/2022, 1st footer inspection, 2) Jimmy (James) perpetual antics, late arrivals, no shows with Niche (Glen’s son) always ready with an excuse for him, 3) insufficient work, e.g., 100% of decking boards had shredded ends, 4) dented heat pump that now raddles from James careless demolition (2x4 hit it hard) of my old deck, 3) bent backwards/cracked existing flashing that trapped water under it toward the ledger board, 5) non-repair (wood surrounding) of my outside exhaust fan, exposing it to the elements, 6) men broke my five foot round table that sits six and refuse to fix it. Now, I have a deck I cannot enjoy because I do not have a table. After repeatedly asking Glen to come see the final work with me present, he came and after inspecting the boards, obviously cut with a dull blade, he said I could run a key across all of them to remove the shavings, my reply, not after paying you $36, 175. He stated he would have James and the guys return immediately to fix the issues before I left on a 30-day holiday vacation. I stressed to Glen and James I did not need to be present. Returned home 01/03/2023 and was furious to find nothing (rework) had been done. Another of James lies. Glen told me James advised me they would wait until I returned to do the rework. As for my broken table, his son told me they are not responsible, and I should have moved it. I advised that's not acceptable given they came over twice. The third visit, I signed the contract and at no time did they imply orally or in writing (contract) that I had to move the table. Glen said James told me if they moved the table it would break. Another lie. I told Glen to accompany them back to my house for the rework, which he did so we I could confront James thinking he would not lie to my face especially after how I treated them. He did, looked away as he said “remember, I told you if we moved it, it would break,” at which time I replied, James you’re a liar, you were nowhere around when your guys moved my table. After seeing our interaction during the guy's rework, Glen told me he would talk to his guy and see what he could do to fix my table. I waited two months, sent another email 02/11/2023, and his reply, “my guy said you live too far, and your job is too small for him to come out.” i.e., Glen had no intention of honoring his word and knowing he had nothing to lose as I had already paid him in full; he knew he would never see me again. I know, I am too trusting. I reason I paid in full, delayed the steps by three weeks to get estimates to replace my brick patio. Glen was one but was cost prohibitive. James pleaded with me, the delay in finishing the job, means they will not get paid and can't paid their bills. I fell for it, hook line and sinker, thus given up my right to negotiate, but still under the impression Glen was a man of his word and would do right by me. WRONG! I even feed the men during construction and sent them away with snacks given the long drive. What I cannot endure now is that I was constantly lied too. I was always told if you break something you repair or replace it. Not with Custom Works, not in my case. I truly believe if I were a man, I would not have been treated like this. I am sure Glen will not like the truth and will try to belittle me, but I have proof to corroborate my review, pictures, E-mails, and text messages and will share them with the BBB. UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!
Response from Custom Works
"There is always that one customer! This is mine. Both of her neighbors told me to be careful working for her. The table in question was already broken! At the end of the job she asked me to do more work when I refused she then said she would write a bad review! I'm not going to be held hostage to do free work! I have been doing this for 26 years and never had a complaint with the BBB. With over 2000 jobs completed!"

From beginning to end, we were very happy with our choice of contractor and Glen's ideas to improve the outcome. We interviewed many contractors and Glen's price was very competitive. With some construction experience myself, I was impressed with the structure and workmanship by Dave and his crew. Glen was supportive of several requests for changes and additions to the contract without gouging us on price, a big plus! I cannot over-emphasize the quality of workmanship I saw from post and beam to ridgepole. The crew was on-time, very professional and friendly, and they worked together very effectively. The only slight disappointment was the time it took to finish but that was due to hitting the company vacation week, the electrician's vacation, the delay in delivery of E-Z Breeze windows (due to a manufacturing delay caused by storm damage to their facility), and final inspector's vacation! But this is expected during the summer and it did not decrease the quality of the end product. We could not be happier with the beautiful screened porch and deck!

I am very happy with the result. Keith arrived as expected to dig the footers. We discussed pouring concrete at low temps and he kept the holes from freezing with insulation. The county inspector was impressed. Next day he provided pre-cast concrete plugs – a good solution. Keith & Craig worked full-time for 3 days on a simple but quality job with attention to detail. The only (minor) negative was in the timing. I contracted with owner Glenn W. on Nov. 8 and he said that he thought it would be completed before Christmas. Later, when he said he couldn’t start until Christmas week, I asked to postpone to January. He said it was due to weather but I don’t know.

Custom works was given detailed designs for a custom composite deck.   Custom works gave design inputs to facilitate construction, offered a selection of materials, and build a proposal for the work.  Construction proceeded on scheduled day and wrapped up in two days time.  While some design elements were complicated, the execution of the design and precision of the construction was outstanding.  A minor flaw in a twisted wooden post was identified and Custom Works quickly rectified the flaw.  The crew was professional, courteous, and very competent.

We have a part of it screened in and a part open, and we just love it. We checked out the prices with 3 to 4 other companies and Custom Works came out with the best prices. They were very professional, responsive, they stayed within the budget we gave them and everything was finished on time. The one unique thing about them that I have never had with any other contractor is that they take no money down until the job is completed. They are very confident about their work. We had a little hiccup once it was complete with one of the permits and they came back and got that taken care off too. They were absolutely wonderful, but their subcontractor, the electrician was not great. They are very good to work with and I would highly recommend them to all.

Glen and his partner were very professional, flexible, and great to work with. Their price, while not a cheap project in general, was a great deal lower than the other companies we spoke to. Glen arranged engineering, plans, and permits as well as construction. Glen spent several hours with us up on the roof analyzing the work and suggesting the best approach and layout. Several contractors we spoke to wouldn't even consider a rooftop deck due to complexity and cost margin; but Custom Works was ready to build. They showed us their portfolio of other similar projects. Once the work started they went as quick as possible to complete the project. There was some delay in starting due to scheduling, the holidays, and pulling the permit took longer than expected. My ONLY complaint would be the crew could have cleaned up better daily; but a great group of workers. Overall, it was an excellent experience dealing with a very good company on a difficult project.
