I have renovated 5 homes and this was by far the worst experience. When he didn't understand what the architect had drawn he did what he thought would look good - which didn't and when asked to fix it & change it to adhere to the original architect plan he refused. We had specs for a special wood floor out of Canada - he was told to use their distributer- he refused & used someone he knew & liked, as a result the wrong floor was ordered and laid - it was made of birch instead of maple and is too soft a wood so shows every mark. He never covered the floor after it was laid, even when i asked him to repeatedly. He painted the walls without cleaning first and as a result he painted the dirt into the walls. The A/C contractor he used didn't put the ducts in correctly so we did not get any A/C or heat in the 2nd bedroom We had him put in radient heat under one of our floors - it never worked The lighting fixture he put up in our hallway fell down and put gouges in the floor His painters broke an antique light fixture that could not be fixed I have nothing positive to say about this contractor

We hired Goshen for our remodle in February 2013. We interviewed several contractors but settled upon Goshen due to the positive recommendations we received from friends and neighbors. Their bid was not the lowest but was very complete and we didn't end up with any "surprises" or "extras" after the fact that are so common in projects of this size. Paul was great to work with in the planning stages and happy to offer valuable suggestions and solutions. He and his team came when they said they would. They did what they said they would do and they also were professional enough to come to me when they thought something looked funny instead of just blindly following the blueprints. This quality was one that I especially valued and greatly improved the outcome of our project. They were also able to accomodate some significant changes we made after the project had started with a minimum impact upon the scheduled completion date. The workers were plesant, quiet, professional and tidy which was a bonus since I am at home most of the day. Finally, I have found Paul to be someone who absolutley stands behind his work and has been available to me to tweak the small things that needed fixing after the project had been completed such as grout that had pulled away or small areas that the painters had missed. We love our new upstairs, the quality is second to none and we would absolutely hire them again for another project.
Description of Work: A complete remodle of our entire second floor.

I can't rate their work but I will rate their promotion for a "free" estimate. Someone in our neighborhood used them for a garage addition and it looks nice so we thought we'd see what they could do for us. Their website says you can get a "free" estimate so I wrote and asked for one. I simply explained we wanted an attached garage and mudroom. After two days I got an email back that said someone had driven by and looked at our lot and estimated that that the cost would be between 50k to 100k based on a magazine article that they helpfully included in the email. They did not ask any questions about our project. They never spoke with us or asked to meet with us. This is not an estimate and I won't be using them. Four other contractors met with us and discussed our project. All gave fairly detailed estimates. We narrowed it down to 2 contractors before making our selection and we are paying significantly below what this "magazine" article says is the going price for a garage. If they didn't want our business they could have just said, we don't have time right now to take on another job. Instead, they just left a bad taste in my mouth.
Description of Work: "Free" Estimate for my addition. I use "estimate" in the loosest possible terms since they didn't actually estimate anything. They didn't talk to us to gain any specs. They emailed us a magazine article about costs of different types of additions.
