A positive first impression deteriorated as repeated delays as two week project took 3 months and exasperated both us and the building contractor. Multiple suppliers took inordinate time to deliver ordinary goods as designer applied insufficient pressure. Major errors occurred with respect to toilet - tank was over four inches from wall despite our having pointed out our concerns given the layout of our 80 year old house - the bathtub was in adequately deep despite our saying that depth was crucial - and the cabinet sink is hugely oversized, something we didn't pick up from the architectural drawings but which should have been obvious to the designer. Also, in-floor electric heat is controlled by totally impenetrable thermostat, designer should have much better understanding of the products he recommends and from the sale of which he receives his commission. A real shame; excellent contractors, an apparently knowledgeable designer who never bothered to question our suggestions or come up with better ones himself. and, oh yes, project came in 60 percent over budget. Designer's insistence that two men could easily move a 350 pound tub upstairs and around corners made us question his competence. Initial work was very responsive and detailed layouts impressed us, but follow through and attention to critical details were seriously lacking. Nice guy, honest and exuding confidence, we relied on his judgment far more than we should have. Result: paid too much, didn't get what we wanted, and we're inconvenienced far too long waiting for supplies that were either not timely ordered or ordered from unreliable suppliers. Designer should have known his suppliers much better than he apparently did.
